| General Overview | Diane has a very upbeat, optimistic personality. She smiles often, even when things look bleak. She enjoys working with her hands as much as working with her brains. She may not be the best at hand-to-hand combat, but she always has a trick or two up her sleeve... usually more. On duty she's tough as nails, gets the job done with minimal nonsense, and doesn't play around. Off duty she's soft as a pillow, especially with her son and close associates. | Personal History | Diane had pretty much a normal childhood growing up until she entered school. Halfway through her first year it was discovered she had an extraordinarily high IQ. Once that was found out her parents entered her into accelerated education programs. She finished high school by the time she was twelve years old. She graduated from MIT with dual degrees in science and engineering by the time she was sixteen. After graduating at the top of her class, Diane did some work in several think tanks before deciding that was boring and mind numbing, she opted for action rather than sitting around letting her brains do all the work. The next logical place was to Starfleet Academy. At the Academy she played to her strengths and majored in engineering and science. Because of her high IQ and grade point average, she was contacted by Starfleet Intelligence to do research work for them. She was assigned to an Intelligence lab on Jupiter Station. While on Jupiter Station, Diane collected, collated, and classified data. She used algorithms to make predictions, and extrapolate what happen given the data she had. Once in a while was assigned to an away mission where she gained a yearning for action that wasn't found in a lab. She was assigned one particular and classified mission with her boyfriend, Rick, and four other intelligence agents. The mission went awry and her lover was killed in action. She mourned him privately as no one they worked with knew they were even dating. Rick's parents blamed her for their son's death and kept her son away from her for many years fearing something may happen to their grandson. Eventually, Diane reconciled with Rick's parents and Toby, her son, was allowed to stay with her again. Since joined the Resolution's crew, Diane has realized she doesn't have the experience needed to be as effective as she thinks she should. She's currently working on rectifying that deficiency. |
