| Physical Description | Isla stands at roughly five foot five inches. Her blonde platinum hair is very light. Although an unusual colour it is natural, it is thought this is due to a slight albino gene being in her DNA makeup. She has a fairly light build but it quick on her feet and usually keeps her hair long, but tied up. |

| General Overview | Isla is a no-nonsense type of girl. She has worked hard for where she is and is proud of her achievements. She is kind and caring towards others and will put them first. She is known to run a relaxed department if everything is going ok and you're in her good books. If not then she is known to be rather strict and by the book. It should be noted that if Isla gets angry, the broader her scottish accent becomes and the more flustered she gets. |

| Personal History | Born in Ayr, a small coastal town in Scotland Isla has always been the girl that 'came from a small town'. She never liked crowds from big cities and much prefered the fields and meadows of the Scottish coastline over the big cities. She grew up as a normal child, although she had a slight form of albinism in her DNA structure as her hair was very light. However it seemed only present in her hair and skin tone. It is thought it was a genetic fault when she was concieved, however her family have never really explored it as she was fine the way she was. Isla was a smart and bright child, and excelled well in her early years at school. In Secondary School she took a particular interest in Design and Technology, especially home economics and engineering classes. She found she was very good at following manuals, diagrams and charts. She was also good at following recepies and she enjoyed cooking as well as fixing and repairing machinery. At age sixteen when Isla left Secondary School, her grades were good and she had excelled in Technology, Mathematics, Science and Computing courses. She wasn't quite sure what to do, so she attended a careers fair in the town. There she came across a stall for Starfleet manned by two ensigns. They inspired her to join into Starfleet when she was Eighteen and she could apply to be an officer. With her sight now set upon Starfleet as an ultimate goal, she decided to enroll into a local college on a two year engineering course. Luckily Ayr college was a good place for her to get in the basics and she learnt a lot about engineering. At age eighteen, Isla took a trip to San Francisco to take the entrance exam for Starfleet Academy. She passed and was accepted into the Academy. A Few months later she packed her bags, said her goodbyes and started her new life at the Academy. The first year for Isla was basic officer training and familiarisation with Starfleet technology, procedures, policies and techniques. In her second year she chose to specialise in Engineering and then took the Starfleet Engineering Course. The nex three years were filled with hitting the books, and in her final year she completed her cadet cruise aboard the USS Paladin along with the rest of her class year. At age 22, in 2365, Isla graduated the Academy and was assigned aboard the USS Harrison as a Junior Engineering Officer. The Harrison being an Excelsior Class was a good challenge for Isla and she enjoyed her time aboard. She particular enjoyed the face that the ship was old and needed a lot of work, there was always plenty of jobs to be done. In 2368, she was put in for the annual officer transfers and found herself being transferred to the USS Ticonderoga, an Akira Class Vessel. However she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade after completing her mandatory two years at Ensign. Isla enjoyed the complexity of the Ticonderoga and enjoyed working with the other engineers. She achieved the confidence of not only the chief engineer of the ship, but also the captain. She was known to be 'the little engineer who could' as she would often work hard and push herself to get the job done. In 2368, the Isla saw combat along the Tholian Border during a skirmish with a Tholian vessel. The ship was ambushed causing significant damage to the vessel's systems and killing a fair amount of the crew in the process. The Ticonderoga put up a good fight, however the ship was too badly damaged to stand upto the assaulting Tholians. The order was given to abandon ship. Isla and some of the other engineers managed to get to the escape pods shortly before the ship exploded. The ship went down with most of her senior staff on board. The Escape Pods were picked up three weeks later by the USS Centaur. Isla felt angry for the loss of her ship and friends. She vowed to work hard to protect those she cared about and requested an immediate assignment back out on the front lines. Luckily they were short of good engineers and she found herself back on a starship within a short amount of time. She was assigned to the USS Akatsuki. This time she was given the position of Assistant Chief Engineer with the same rank. The Akatsuki being a steamrunner class destroyer was fast, quick and well armed. She was also able to get up and personal with the enemy and do a lot of damage in the process. Isla enjoyed the smaller ship over the larger ones, she got to know the crew better and she could use her knowledge of the engineers on board to better delegate tasks. The Akatsuki was a good ship for Isla. It saw some combat during the Klingon/Federation war in 2372, however in late 2372 the Akatsuki was ambushed and heavily damaged. Three Klingon vessels attacked the Akatsuki whilst on a border patrol and caught them by surprise. The Akatsuki managed to get away after destroying two of the attacking ships and then hiding in a nearby nebula before the Klingons gave up on them. The Akatsuki was repaired after the battle, and Isla stayed aboard. She was promoted to full Lieutenant shortly after the war for her gallantry and actions when the ship was engaged in the Battle with the Klingons. She doesn't often talk about it, but she managed to prevent the ship from being destroyed mid battle by channeling an overload of the core through the nacelle coils. She did this without permission and she did it quickly, the resulting plasma burst also destroyed the one of the Klingon ships during retreat, so it was a win-win. Eventually after two years, her captain and chief began to hint that she should be the Chief one day. She had the skill, knowledge and experience. A position aboard the USS Resolutiln came up, a Galaxy Class Starship. Isla was told she should apply for it, to see if they would accept her. After days of thinking what she should do, she decided to finally go for it and put in for the open position of Chief Engineer on the Resolution. |
