The day had been something of a long one. With phaser certification out of the way Sky decided to drop by the holodeck for some relaxation.
Soran walked into the holodeck, "Computer Wagnor 12"
The black and yellow grid turned into an obstacle course. He picked up a phaser rifle from the table in front of him and moved toward the first obstacle. "Go"
Phaser beams began to fire in his direction as he took cover, he popped his head up to fire at the first prob hitting it square in the center. The normal target programs were good, but sometimes he needed to shoot at things that were shooting back.
Arriving at the holodeck Sky didn’t look to see if the holodeck was in use, instead she simply stepped through the doors before realising there was someone inside. She could see the program that was running, so she simply kept out of the way.
Soran got distracted by hearing the door opening and the next shot hit him square in the chest. He cried out in pain and shouted curses in his native tongue.
"Computer end program," he turned to Sky. "What the hell, this program is dangerous especially to someone in your condition!"
Sky offered an apologetic gaze. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to distract you...I didn’t think to look if the holodeck was in use! I’ll get out of your way.”
"Computer Wagnor 15" Soran said. A large park on M class world appeared and he turned and began walking towards the path. "What's on your mind counselor?"
Sky offered a more relaxed smile. “Plenty, that’s why I was coming here to relax.” She followed Soran as he walked ahead of her. “When I was taking my phaser certification I saw...” she paused. “I can only describe it as flashes of a battle, but I’ve never been in a battle.”
"I will answer your questions but we need to set some boundaries," He looked around the eye. "You had to have seen the combat training warning before you entered the hollow deck. I know you have a duty to care, but you can't interpret my combat program. Someone could have been hurt."
“I never saw it, I wasn’t paying attention.” Sky sighed. “I guess I’m more distracted than I thought, I wouldn’t purposely endanger myself, or anyone else.”
"In that case I'm sure you'll be more mindful in the future" Soran nodded. "This program was made for me as part of my therapy. It's a safe place, I used bring my mind here when things were bad."
Sky nodded. “After what you’ve been through I’m not surprised, as your Counsellor I’m glad to see that the program is used, and is working for you.” She paused. “Ren...how much of what’s in your mind do I now possess? Having flashes of your memory isn’t necessarily a good thing.”
"I don't know," He said. "The last time something like this happened the telepath said the memories faded after a few days."
Sky nodded. “Hopefully they will, but what if they don’t? I got deeper into your mind than I’ve ever been with anyone. I guess I don’t entirely understand how it even happened. I shouldn’t have been drawn into your mind just because I touched you.”
"I wouldn't know," Soran shook his head.
Sky offered a smile. “It’s an unknown for both of us. So...where is this place?”
"It's a public park in the capital city on Angosia III, the Defense Academy is over that hill. Thatha, Gel, Roen and I would come here sometimes." Soran said nostalgically.
“It’s pretty” Sky smiled as she looked around. “Remind me to show you the parks on Earth and Betazed.”
"Sounds pleasant," Soran said. "Where did you shoot like that?"
Sky looked towards Soran curiously. “Like what? I’ve only ever learned on the firing range at the Academy. Not that I use a phaser much.”
"Your stance wasn't what they teach at the Academy." Soran gave her a searching look. "It was an Angosian Sentinel stance."
“Angosian...” Sky stood silent for a moment. “I don’t understand why I’d be using that kind of stance. None of this makes any sense!”
"It seems you got more than memories from my head." The Angosian said.
Sky nodded. “It would seem so, I don’t recall anything though apart from odd flashes. It seems it needs a trigger to set it off. It must just be odd thoughts, those that trigger the highest emotions. I need to talk to Rutherford, see what he has to say about it.”
"That's probably a good idea," Soran nodded.
“Will you come?” Sky looked at Soran curiously. “Rutherford may need your input if he has any questions. I won’t be going into detail about what I saw in your mind, that’s confidential.”
He paused, "I can do that."
“Thank you” Sky offered a smile. “Sorry again for walking in on your program, I’ll pay more attention to whether the holodeck is in use next time.”
"That's all I ask thank you," Soran said.
Sky nodded and smiled. “I’ll let you get back to your program Ren, thank you for taking the time out to talk with me, I appreciate it.”
