A Shimmering Arrival
Posted on Sat Feb 6th, 2021 @ 6:09pm by Warrant Officer Eitan Tuscadero & Lieutenant Jacen Rendar
Mission:
Welcome Aboard
Location: USS Resolution
Having packed his things from the New York, Jacen had spent the last 8 hours onboard the USS Temple, as it made its way towards the last known position of the Resolution. With his transfer coming in fast, Jacen was glad that he had already packed up once the Nebula Class starship had docked at McKinley.
What he couldn't shake was the way that the atmosphere at McKinley seemed almost different to normal. It didn't feel like a normal starbase dock that was working on the latest starship to need either a refit or repairs, there seemed to be more urgency about getting the New York back into service again, but there was also more urgency in getting the new crew assignments and replacements to the Resolution.
Its wasn't often that Jacen was onboard an Apollo Class Starship, but he was glad that they were fast and that the Temple had made good time in getting himself and the other few crew assignments to the Resolution. During the journey, Jacen still felt that tension on board and wondered if the Odyssey Incident in the Gamma Quadrant was the cause behind it all.
He'd been one of the officers to assist in getting the survivors home and when word that a Galaxy CLass starship had been bested in battle by a new race in the Gamma Quadrant started to filter down, there was a sudden fear that starships weren't the taken for granted safe place that most officers and family knew. In fact, if anything, having been at both Setlik Three and managing to survive the battle of Wolf 359, Jacen was very clear that even being aboard the Resolution meant that he'd been able to get to a new assignment and hoped that this would be one of the quieter ones.
Once the Temple was in range, Jacen was ushered to the Transporter Room where he prepared to get ready for his new role as Assistant Chief Operations Officer of the Resolution. "Energise," he said to the Chief on duty.
Standing behind the transporter controls at his post in transporter room one, Tully Tuscadero was busily tapping away at the controls as worked at completing the transport of a Lieutenant Jacen Rendar, Assistant Chief Operations Officer. This made Tully smirk a little as he was bringing aboard the man who would be his immediate superior. The transporter pad illuminated and slowly yet surely the shimmering light began to take a humanoid shape.
Features began to become more evident as the shimmering effect started to fade. "Lieutenant Rendar?" said Tully as he stepped away from the console and proceeded towards the transporter pad extending his hand toward the man with a warm smile. "Eitan Tuscadero, Transporters at your service, but please call me Tully."
Jacen stepped down off the Transporter Pad. "Thank you...Tully, it's a pleasure to meet you and be aboard this fine vessel," he said, stowing his bag to one side. "So, your one of my fellow officers or Chiefs in Operations?" he asked. Jacen was hoping to get up to speed fast whilst the Resolution was on its current mission.
"Yes, Sir, by warrant. WO-1" replied Tully. "With the position of Chief Transporter Operator. So, I'll be overseeing the transporter operators and reporting to you," added Tully. "Some have just been addressing me as 'Chief,' but Mister Tuscadero is just fine with me."
"Very good, Mister Tuscadero, it's a pleasure to meet you and also meet one of my Operations team as soon as I get on board," Jacen added. "Its also good to see that you are maintaining a high standard as Chief Transporter Operator on board, I look to seeing more of your fine work as I get used to serving aboard a galaxy class starship for the first time."
Looking around the room, Jacen took note of the layout and saw how it wasn't much different from the Nebula Class USS New York he'd not long transferred from.
"So, how easy is it to locate my quarters from here?" he asked.
Tully reached for a PADD at his console and tapped away. "Here you go, Sir," he said to the man handing it over to Rendar. "Your quarters and how to get there. If you get turned around, just ask the computer. She will get you there, illuminating the way along the panels."
"Ah excellent, thank you very much," Jacen said as he took the PADD. "Very Chief, carry on your good work, I'm sure that we'll catchup again soon." With that, Jacen picked up his bag of belongings and made his way out of the Transporter room and towards his quarters.
Tully nodded. "Thank you, Sir." The young man smiled and parted ways with his superior.
