Mission:
Traitor amongst us?
Location: Various
Robert stood at the shuttle bay arms behind his back waiting for the shuttle carrying the next batch of additions to the crew to arrive. He was feeling antsy but kept his cool he was almost like a kid who was waiting for the next new cool toy to come out.
Kiera was sitting excitedly aboard the shuttle that was transferring her to her new ship and her husband. For the last 3 years, they’d had to stay in touch over subspace and meet up during Shoreleave, which hadn’t made it easy on their fledgling marriage. Kiera had requested reassignment to be with her husband several times, but up until now, she’d heard nothing. Now they would finally be together.
As the shuttle came in for its final approach and touchdown in the shuttle bay she couldn’t wait to exit. Grabbing her bag she stepped out of the shuttle, seeing Robert she ran towards him dropping her bag and flinging her arms around him as she kissed him.
Robert gave her a big hug and lifted her off her feet and spun around a few times before returning her kiss. "Oh my goodness it's good to see you!" He said with a grin. "I missed you."
Finally letting go of her husband Kiera stood grinning from ear to ear. “I missed you too! It’s been a long 3 years without you there with me, but at least we’re back together now!” She picked up her bag. “I take it you’ve found our quarters?”
Robert nodded. "It's big like we asked for and got a nice size sonic shower for two." He replied.
“Wonderful” Kiera grinned. “I could use a shower! How about you show me there?”
Robert perked up at the offer. "Absolutely!" He started before clearing his throat. "I mean, of course...I’d be happy to."
Kiera smiled warmly. “Wonderful. I won’t make you late for your duties, will I? The last thing I want is to make you late for your shift.”
Robert shook his head. "No, I still have to check in with the counselor." He turned his head to look at Kiera. "Did you know there is a fairy on this ship in sickbay?"
Kiera gave Robert a look that said it all. “A fairy!? You’re having me on right? Fairies don’t exist.”
"Dead serious gotta go see it for yourself you know you see a lot of strange things in Starfleet." Robert shook his head. "Kinda makes it easier to just wish I was back home with my horse and the cattle."
Kiera nodded. “I’ll do that, but first things first I aim to spend what brief time we have for now, with you.” She held onto his hand. “I might even tempt you into that shower.” She grinned a wry grin.
Robert laughed before ruffling her hair. "Same old, Kiera, I missed you being so kinky." He kissed her on the cheek. "Good to have you here with me."
“Hey! You know I hate it when you ruffle my hair like I’m a kid.” Kiera sighed but couldn’t help but smile. “I thought maybe you’d missed me sharing your bed at night.” She gave him a worried look, 3 years was a long time apart what if Robert didn’t feel the same about her anymore?
"Honestly, I hated not just having you in bed not having you around, period, was bad. Should have seen the guys I had to roommate with." Robert shuddered a little. "Was like the Academy all over again and you know the guys I had for friends. Benny had that huge crush on you remember?"
“How can I forget!” Kiera grinned as they walked. “He used to follow me around like a puppy! He was a nice guy though, but I certainly got the best guy of them all.”
"So how was your trip? No problems I hope."
“None at all” Kiera shook her head. “It was boring! All I had to read was the latest diplomatic brief on the possible war we’re all facing. With the threat hanging over our heads, the Diplomatic department is starting to become more important.”
Robert sighed at the idea of war. "I joined Starfleet to Explore not be a soldier...almost want to go back to the ranch and back to raising cattle."
“You’d only end up being drafted for the war effort if you did” Kiera shrugged her shoulders. “Right now it’s just a maybe, cross your fingers it won’t be. Anyway... just where are these quarters you’re taking me to?”
"Deck 7," Robert replied leading her to the turbo-lift. "Well, I am certain you will do everything you can to avoid a conflict."
“It’s not just me, it’s a mass effort. Starfleet is getting as many diplomatic people to spread out as they can. We can only hope that diplomacy will go some way to avoiding all-out conflict.” Kiera smiled as she stepped into the turbo-lift. “I can’t believe we’re finally together! I’ve waited for this day for what’s felt a whole lot longer than the last 3 years.”
Robert had to agree with her last statement felt like ages since they were together. "I couldn't agree more felt like an eternity plus I read your roommate didn't make things easy due to her extra activities."
“No... she didn’t” Kiera shook her head. “Listening to her with the guys she used to bring home, while I was so far from you, it wasn’t easy.” As the lift came to a halt she stepped out waiting for Robert to show her where their quarters were.
