Mission:
Starship Side Quest
Location: Bridge
Timeline: back post -
Xavier sat in the centre chair... even though it was not necessary, it was out of habit. Sky was on her way off with Commander Soran, Tal was doing her own thing... she loved planets, so of course she was the first one off.
The Orion counselor had finally made her way up to the bridge. After making several of the crew uneasy, as to be expected- part of the job- she wasn't exactly excited to meet the rest of the ranking staff. "Doctor Tale Gilohesh, reporting in sir."
Xavier glanced up to the new officer. An orion, thats interesting, he thought to himself as he gestured to the XO seat. "Dr. Your transfer went without issues I hope."
Tale raised an eyebrow. "Transfer? Sir, I'm here to perform an assessment of your crew. StarFleet Command is concerned about the goings on the Resolution and hired me as an investigator."
"Ah right, a temporary assignment I hear I apologize. So hows your assignment going"
"Interesting ship you have here Captain. I've half a mind to make you all run regulation exercises to do team building, but seeing as how not a single person is concerned that StarFleet sent an assessor in," Tale said simply. "I suppose I'll just roll with it."
"Given we are constantly switching XO's it wouldn't hurt to figure out the issues."
"How often are you cycling XOs, sir?" It's not like it would count against them to have information. "Do you have any concerns yourself that you'd like addressed on the qt?"
"The ships had three, I have had two XO's, one I just returned to light duty after removing her."
"I have tried to have sessions with her, she's obstinate to assessment," Tale replied. "Which doesn't bother me much, but it does lend for concern since you removed her from active duty. I digress, sir. Is there anything I should be aware of?"
"We have a history her and I... she was previously my counsellor, and is responsible for me to remain in the fleet. There is also the idea that at one point I did have... feelings for her which was never reciprocated. I moved on, took a deep space assignment, and currently have two wives, a kid in the academy, with two on the way."
"That's quite a lot to balance along with the ship's work load, then the frequent change of second in command, to have your personal matters in your ranked officers must be difficult," Tale chose her words carefully.
"That was years ago Lt. After killing my father, to save the enemy... I was a mess... she helped me out, and I might have latched onto her as a way to hold onto someone... apparently its common..." He sighed, "Now she’s my right hand on this ship and my wife has made her feel uncomfortable. Her culture has a way with... openness to the extreme."
"I see. Your trauma impacted your ability to effectivity to see appropriate boundaries," Tale stated. "It is fairly normal considering. As long as you can acknowledge it and work through it. Most people are able to function with it. I can see how it would bother the matrimony though, on either side. It would be, uncomfortable."
"It was moreso my wife's disdain for clothes... and boundaries... her culture sees monogamy in any sense restrictive, and unnatural..."
"I'm sure she remains dressed on duty?" Tale asked plainly, but internally pleaded.
"When we found her on my previous assignment, in stasis... she decided to remain onboard. It was hard for her to understand that our ways were different than hers."
"I'll make note to check her dossiers? I received very little information about her." Tale said quietly starting to pace. "Captain, if I may, the Admiralty is concerned about the interpersonal connections in the ranking officers and quite frankly, I am too."
"Permission to speak candidly Lt."
It's been pretty candid already, Tale thought. "But of course," she replied.
"I am not in the habit of telling my officers who they can and cannot date in their personal life. When I met my... first wife... we were lost in space... we lost more than half the crew... she wasn't even fleet. Starfleet had given us up as MIA... presumed lost. We came here, and the Lt... well it just happened... the Commander and Chief security, had a past previously... kind of similar... I know its frowned upon, but I have yet to encounter issues with it operating the ship."
"You'd say there's strict working boundaries on the ship then?"
"For the most part, the boundaries have been met... everyones professional, and we all know what we signed up for when we applied to the academy. If I feel that boundaries are being crossed. I will say something. Which I fully expect one to do so if they feel I have."
"Good. Well, I'll get back to my work, you get back to yours," Tale replied. "And Captain, congratulations on your wedding."
"Appreciate it Lt. Welcome to the Res... temporary or not. Its good to have you aboard."
"Thank you, sir. I'll try not to rock the boat more than it was when I found it." Tale took her leave with a turn of her foot. Then she thought giggled to herself, More than it already is, heyoooooo.
