Mission:
Shoreleave
Location: USS Resolution Bridge
With the Resolution docked at Pegasus the bridge was mostly empty cept a skeleton crew and the engineers doing the refit. All the engineering stations was powered down and being worked on while Robert was doing one himself wielding away.
Xavier walked onto the bridge with Tal, going to the centre seat was something that was still a habit, whether the ship was docked, or not. Noticing the few workers, he nodded to them, and walked over, "Hows the refit going?"
Robert pulled his welding goggles up on his head. "It's coming along steadily I'm hoping the Commander will come through on additional help." He turned to the Captain. "Come see the new upgrades?"
"Affirmative." Xavier replied as he turned to Tal, who went to the tactical station.
Robert was shocked by Tal's appearance getting to his feet he walked over to her his eyes really wide. "Wow, where you from?" He asked slowly walking around he wasn't trying to be rude he just never seen anything like Tal before.
Looking down. "Na'Vi... about 100,000 years ago Lt. The Captains former ship found what was my homeworld with a stasis pod. I am what is left."
Robert raised an eyebrow then shrugged he wasn't a scientist so he wasn't going to push the matter. "Well, sorry to hear that must be hard on you."
"Its a long story Lt." Xavier replied as he looked to the console.
Robert went back to the console he was working on taking a seat before getting to work on the exposed circuitry. "Everything, alright?"
"Everything is fine... although I have heard through the grapevine at the messhall... there seems to be concern regarding my... relationship status..." He replied casually. It wasn't something he hadn't heard before, matter of fact when he walked into the mess, it was often silencing.
Robert continued his work. "I know what you are going to say, skip, it's none of my business and you are right. It's just I never encountered anyone in such a peculiar relationship before I come from a background where I was raised to be with one other person, not many."
"I apologize if it upset you or the others in your life, Sir, I am seeing a therapist to help me ease into the situation."
Xavier couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "I have no issue it, neither does anyone else." He gave a reassuring smile. "Its common... the reaction."
"Wait, so you had encounters with others that feel the way as I have?" Robert was now all ears setting his tools down.
Nodding, "There are some that are not as open to ideas such as ours, other races like the denobulans for example has something more extensive, much more extensive. But some... most are still one for one mentality..."
"Well if it makes you feel any better I suppose you could say my relationship is quite a peculiar one as well."
"If you require answers, my wife... well the lt here, will be glad to answer any questions."
"That's your wife?!" Robert exclaimed surprised obviously before he rested his face in his hand. "Sorry...."
"I would have assumed you knew."
"No, not really but I don't really keep up with the who's who. Just focus on my job fixing shit or making things better." Robert replied.
Smiling. "Sometimes socializing can be a good thing." Tal replied as she looked over to the lt.
"Well, yes that's true, but when you're starting off on refitting a few things," Robert tapped the flight station with a joystick and throttles. "Socializing is on the back of the mind."
"True enough." Xavier replied with a smile.
Sitting in the seat of the helm station Robert brought it online checking readings and making adjustments. "Once everything is settled guess I will visit the lounge more often."
"Its not an order Lt."
Robert turned in the chair to face the Captain. "I never implied that it was one just you make a very good point I still have yet to meet the rest of the senior staff. Plus my wife has always been asking me to get out more and not go to the holodeck so much to ride my horse back home."
"Very well. I do know some people don't like socializing. I didnt want to come across as pushy."
Robert shrugged his shoulders. "Eh, I was expecting it to come up sooner or later just thought it come from my other half not you, Captain." He picked up his hydro spanner off the floor. "So it's okay if I felt you were crossing the line I would say so."
"Very well. Come to think of it, you do have a point." Xavier admitted.
Robert put his tools back in the box. "Should I show you what I did to the helm console, Sir?* He asked.
"Show me what you got."
