Robert came down to the Archaeology lab with a basket in hand. "Figured I would find you here." He said walking by Kiera and setting the basket down nearby. "Long day I was too tired to cook so ordered us something."

Kiera smiled as she walked over and gave Robert a kiss. “That’s very thoughtful of you Imzadi. I’m sorry I’m running late, I started off plowing through what’s here, sorting out some uncatalogued things and now I’ve got to tidy it all up again! This is my secondary job so I can’t just leave the place a mess incase I’m needed on my primary duties.”

"I was working late too so no worries." Robert took a seat. "Met the new science officer today a real doozy that one is."

“Really? Do tell” Kiera smiled as she moved to pick up some bits and pieces to put them back in their storage boxes.

"Oh, it started off bad at first but thanks to her dog it got better." Robert was about to go into more details when he saw Kiera's medical report dated today. "You went to sickbay?"

Kiera looked towards the report. “Ohh I err...” she nodded. “I dropped in quick while I was in the area.” She paused what she was doing. “Don’t get your hopes up, they checked and it’s negative. I’m not pregnant.”

There was a clatter on the desk as Robert dropped the report. Suddenly he was not feeling as cheerful as he sat up to find somewhere secluded clearly the man was upset.

“You’re not the only one whose upset about this you know” Kiera picked up the report and put it away in her drawer. “They said there’s nothing wrong, it’s just a case of keep trying. If we have any problems then there are...medical ways to conceive.”

"I know but it still hurts you know I mean I still think we be good parents." Robert said calmly.

Kiera nodded. “I know we will Imzadi, it’s just going to take some time for us to conceive I guess. Who knows it might just happen one of these days.”

Robert grinned slightly as he wanted to focus on better thoughts. "Oh, admit it you just like the baby making process, Kiera." He teased.

Kiera smiled as she picked up a box and moved towards the lab shelves to put it away. “Of course I do, what woman wouldn’t enjoy it?”

Robert handed Kiera another box helping her clean up. "Sorry I wasn't there with you in sickbay today. I would of been at your side in a heartbeat." He said.

“I know” Kiera nodded. “I just... needed some time to clear my head, that’s why I came here.” She sighed. “I’m disappointed, I was hoping that this time would be different.”

Not saying a word Robert gave Kiera a hug he knew she was hurting deep down. He was hurting too he wanted to be a dad but he didn't let the pain show. "It's okay to cry, Kiera." He said in a soft gentle tone.

Kiera nodded as she hugged Robert tightly. As much as she needed to cry she hadn’t been able to, at least not until now. It wasn’t long before she was sobbing on his shoulder.

Robert hated to see her like this but he too felt the pain they both wanted to be parents. Kiera would make a great mom that much he knew it was a natural gift she had. Stroking his wife's hair Robert found a chair and sat down before helping Kiera sit on his lap.

Gently taking her face with both hands he lightly wiped her tears with his thumbs. "Listen to me, I know it hurts I too am hurting but we keep trying there's nothing wrong with us." Robert kissed Kiera's forehead. "I am even willing to adopt you know that."

Kiera nodded. “I know, it’s just...as much as I’d love that child like it was our own, he or she wouldn’t be our own. I want to be able to give you a child that’s ours.”

Robert understood what she was saying and he felt the same way. "Well, I guess I will have to show that uterus of yours who's boss." He joked.

Kiera grinned as she wiped away her tears. “I guess so! And if that doesn’t work...then we’ll see about adoption.”

Robert smiled rubbing Kiera's back. "Exactly, but I will keep trying if you will." He kissed her cheek God he loved Kiera so much.

Kiera nodded. “Of course I will, I’m not giving up on us having a baby.”

Robert was happy to see Kiera feeling better it was one of many things he loved being her husband seeing himself make her feel better. She was amazing and Kiera had a very special place in his heart. Robert never thought of himself as a romantic guy but according to Kiera he was quite a bit which surprised him even.

“We should eat” Kiera nodded to the food Robert brought with him. “I don’t want the food spoilt.”

Robert let Kiera get to her feet before he followed her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "You going to be okay, Kiera?" He asked gently kissing her neck.

Kiera nodded. “I will be.”

Robert helped her set up the food and took a seat next to Kiera. "I got you your favorite." He said with a smile.

Kiera smiled. “You always do know what I love.” She picked up a spoon and tasted a little of the dessert. “Mmmm uttaberry! How on Earth did you get this here?”

"Chef, hooked me up." Robert replied as he took a bite of his food.

“I should have known you’d be making friends with the chef already” Kiera smiled as she tucked into dinner. “Mmm delicious!”

Robert set his fork down frowning slightly. "I feel I should apologize for leaving you at the lounge like I did, it was nice to meet the Commander. But I know you was upset me bailing on you like I did." He sighed. "I wasn't exactly ready to meet the Captain like you were."

Kiera nodded. “It’s okay, I was angry at the time but I understand why you did it.”

"Yes, I know but still I didn't mean to anger you. Now I know we had our disagreements but you are precious to me." Robert took her hand and kissed it.

Kiera smiled warmly. “You know I feel the same, life wouldn’t be life for me without you.”

Robert leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I am a very lucky man to have you in my life." He said with a smile.

“So how’s about we finish eating and head home? I’ve wasted enough time feeling sorry for myself here.” Kiera smiled warmly.

Robert nodded in agreement. "Sounds good to me."

Smiling Kiera tucked into the rest of her food, it didn’t take long to finish. “Mmm just wonderful, as always.”

Robert finished his plate as well. "Glad you enjoyed it." He gave her a smile. "I love you, Kiera."

“I love you too, you know I do.” Kiera smiled as she picked up their plates. “Let’s go home.”

"Kiera, uh,... when are you ovulating? " Robert asked out of the blue suddenly he felt stupid asking.

Kiera gazed at Robert in surprise. “Now that’s a question I wasn’t expecting you to ask.” She smiled. “To be honest I haven’t checked, I’ve just gone with our wants and needs.”

Robert offered Kiera his arm for her to take. "I am sorry for asking such a question but my therapist suggested we try during your uh...you know." He was a bit embarrassed to mention it again.

Kiera nodded. “I know, I do try to time it right but that hasn’t worked for us yet either.” She sighed.

"We will keep trying besides that baby making part is always fun with you." Robert grinned.

Kiera grinned too. “You’re right it is. We can enjoy ourselves whilst we try to get lucky.”

"Do you think there's a chance we can avoid a conflict with The Dominion?"

Kiera shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know Imzadi, I hope so! Going to war isn’t something I want to think about.”

"You're right I'm sorry for bringing it up." Robert felt bad for upsetting Kiera if he did her side of the bond was closed to him.

“No, don’t be sorry it has to be considered.” Kiera offered an understanding smile. “War could be looming and if it happens we have to be prepared for it.”

"If there was a time the Borg could make themselves useful and swoop in to attack The Dominion I be all for it." Robert wasn't really like that but he didn't like the idea of war or fighting one.

Kiera smiled a wry smile. “Just beef up Borg numbers instead. I guess we’ll find out soon enough which way things are going to go.”

Robert rubbed his wife's back. "Well, Imzadi, I hope it can still be avoided."

“As do I Imzadi” Kiera nodded in agreement. “So how are you enjoying serving aboard the Resolution? Are you happy here?”

Robert immediately lit up. "Are you kidding? I love it here! I never thought I get to put my real passions to use the crew responds very well and it's great bouncing ideas off each other." He replied enthusiastically.

Kiera grinned at her husband’s reaction. “Wonderful, that’s all I wanted to know. I like it here too.”

Robert wrapped his arm around his wife. "But know what else I like here... coming home to you." He added.

“Well I’m certainly not going anywhere” Kiera smiled.

"I certainly would hope not, Kiera." Robert replied. "I desire only you and you complete me."

Kiera smiled warmly. “As you do me. Now, let’s go home.
