Doctors can cure many things, not computers

Mission: Starship Side Quest
Location: Planet Sick Bay
Timeline: Day Two Planet Side.

On:

Larissa had been on a cloud since she had gotten home for the day. Working planet side was shaping up to be just another ‘call out’, that all changed in the moment that she met RJ Milton. Here was a man that was like a breath of fresh air in comparison to those that had been around her in the past six to eight months.

She was now sitting in the nursery of her family quarters. It was time for own of Jenny’s regular feedings. For the first time in a while, Larissa had some of her favourite Aussie Country music playing. A Keith Urban song was playing as she rocked in the glider chair. She looked around the nursery with its Pixie Hollow theme, feeling a little more at peace and just enjoying the time she was spending with Jenny.

Larissa sighed as she thought about what had happened earlier. He had been sweet and ever so considerate. It was certainly something to be around him, he was professional yet not cold, and he picked up on the fact that she had only had Jenny two months ago. This was someone who was on his game.

“I know it was only a couple of kisses, yet… I could have stayed there and done that all afternoon! Ar-Jay, I wonder if he would be interested in me past our little encounter. I’ll be back down there tomorrow anyway, so I guess I’ll find out, won’t I, sweetie?”

Jenny just looked up at her ‘mumma’, busily filling her belly before another of her longer ‘naps’.

Come morning Larissa was up and getting herself ready with a different kind of gusto. Her hair was neat, down, a light thin plait on either side pinning back a lot of natural waves. She was very light and natural with her makeup and was a neat picture of ‘augmented regulation’ in her Ops uniform with the jacket pockets and such.

She actually took the time to check things in the mirror just after she had finished breakfast before a top off feed and dropping Jenny off with one of her ‘sisters’ to be looked after while she was planet side.

Larissa transported down and got into sickbay. She found herself scanning around for RJ and Pix. She had her back foot tapping a bit. One of the songs from the night before was kind of stuck in her mind. “Where are ya at, Ar-Jay? I’d love to be able to say hi to…y’all before I settle into the hum drum of work. I wonder if he wants to have a coffee or lunch today?.... Don’t get ahead of yourself girl, take it slow. He’s at least kissed you, that’s a very nice start.”

It was Pix who noted a presence that caught her attention, the woman of their 'conversation.'

"Oh Miss Larissa," Milton acknowledged her and glad of a change away from Pix pushing the fact he was noticing a lovely woman. "Ah did not realize yew were coming back fer round tew."

"From start to finish, it's better for one person or another to follow the process all the way through. I'm happy to be here too."

"It is good to see yew again, looking quite fetching this morning." He complemented.

The fact she was quite pretty and to have her subtle curves of a healthy woman rather than the anorexia driven majority of females gave her added allure.

"And how did Missy Jennifer handle her working Mom being away?" Always polite to a tee.

"She's not loving the bottle feeds while I'm down here. Ops wants me to be as 'efficient as possible', basically as little backwards and forwards as possible. For the most part, she's been sleep, eat, repeat. Her usual for the last 6 weeks." She smiled for a moment. "Thanks for askin' Ar-Jay. So, how are you and Miss Pix today?"

Pix for her reply looked from Milton to Larissa and back again before the giggling started.

"As you see she is doing well, in a Wright giggly mood ... at my cost, I am sure." Milton said.

Larissa smiled, she could see they were close, and it was lovely to see.

"You are looking rather fetchin." Milton continued. "All Bright eyed..." Hesitating when got caught in those eyes for a few seconds. " And bushy tailed. Looking as you are rearing to go?" He still looked in those alluring eyes while waiting a reply.

"The problems don't solve themselves." She had a little giggle about that. Larissa looked both ways before she spoke again. "Truth be told, I was hoping to see you again." She was beaming and could notice that slight rise in her pulse, having him talking to her.

"I am honored." Milton bow slightly. "To catch the attention of a lovely Lady..." Trying not to be too obvious in taking in the attire and way she had Collected herself in such a nice package. "Might a gentleman escort the Lady to her prepared console?" He offered an arm." Ah must confess that yew do light the room a bit."

Larissa blushed at the attention and offered her arm. “And they say Chivalry is dead. That is a very sweet offer and very kind of ya to say.”

Walking arm in arm as is publicly accepted. His gut did feel a warmth as the strode along.

"Yew will keep me updated a-long the way?" He winked. "Never too careful in keeping track of progress yew know?"

“Of course. There could be something that either of us has seen that could be critical to the whole process. As much as slowly cleaning the systems up is important, we need the source of this too, else this is all for no point at all.” She smiled lightly yet sighed. “Otherwise this could all become a far worse headache.”

"We usually cure headaches in Sick Bay." He chuckled. "Though sometimes we dew call in experts to help." Smiling as they strode. "And here is your cleared console, still on old system while all new and other systems are going to a Mobile Computer Core exclusive to Sick bay."

"Thanks for that, Ar-Jay. I really do want to sort out this whole mess. Last thing all of your staff need is unreliable equipment, I know how critical that can be." Larissa replied, knowing the seriousness of having this place in a non-functional state was.

Milton winked.

"Ah have the utmost confidence in yew." He added. "Let me all know if there is anything yew need."

Larissa smiled. His kind nature shone through rather strongly and it put her quite at ease. “I’ll be sure to give you or Pix a holler if I do.” She settled in at the station, setting up a portable speaker that the engineering boys had whipped up for her. “A little music can help with a lot of things. Oh, and I promise all of it is quite sickbay friendly.”

"Just do not open a dance club in the place." Milton said before shaking his head and smiling. "I am catching up down here and most of new equipment is shaping up in the new network.

Larissa touched the top of the speaker once and then held another button. “Access music files Larissa Riley – Work mix.” The speaker beeped in compliance. “Find a song at random from Keith Urban and commence playback. Something tells me playing some Aussie country would be more than acceptable, right?” She looked up to RJ with a wink.

“If it gets the problem snaffled, you can play Flight of or Valkyrie or William Tell Overture for all I would mind." He smiled and went back for his patient rounds.

“Flight of the Valkyrie might be a bit much, but the punch of the Willam Tell just might work.” She had a slight giggle as she settled into her work, a frown developing rather quickly.

"Glad that you have fine all tastes in music." He turned to leave. "That look usually means trouble." He said

It was probably best to let her be no matter how cute she is in that skirted uniform.

"Pix hovered as he turned with hands on her hips and a sly knowing grin.

"So I like a woman's legs, Sue me." He grumbled as he walk past.
