At the Stroke of two

"His neural activity is all over the place…"
Who is that???
"He's seizing again, give him 10 CCs of…"
I can’t place the voice???
"Do we have blood work?"
Everything is black…
"What is he on?"
I'm cold… So cold…
“106! He’s burning up!"
I'm walking into the wind. I can barely keep my eyes open as I follow behind Kip across the ice, I feel my footing slip. There's a cracking sound and I'm suddenly underwater. My pack and gear pull me straight to the bottom. I watched helplessly as the starlight disappeared in inky blackness…
Strong hands grab me and I'm pulled towards the starlight. I come out of the water coughing and wheezing. The light stings my eyes…
I'm lying on my back. I can feel the hard frozen ground under me. My head is being cradled in someone's lap. I'm shivering violently. My wet clothes are plastered to my frigid flesh.
"Gods someone gets us some blankets" I looked up into Thatha's face filled with concern.
"What's happening?" I asked.
I saw an old woman covering me with a blanket. Thatha said something to the woman.
"They told you the ice was too thin, dumb ass!"
Now I remember Kip and I were taking a shortcut on a frozen lake after a patrol, "My pack took me straight to the bottom."
"You need to learn to let things go." Thatha looked me in the eye. She brushed some hair out of my face and caressed my cheek.
"Let what go?" I whispered.
I reached to touch her face as my vision blurred… I could then hear the hums and beeps of medical equipment. There was a blinding light and the air smelled sterile. I try to move but I'm strapped in place and I don't have any strength. Then I heard a familiar voice.
"You're safe now Sentinel, you fought beside us, you did your part."
The woman was speaking in my native language with a Rothin accent…
I don't know where or when I am…
I wanted to speak but no words came…
It felt like there was a weight on my chest…
everything went black…
