Captains Ready Room, Main Bridge
Deck 1 USS Resolution
Greyson looked up at the branch, Tal was up there, somewhere, somehow, this was bigger than the one on the Remmington, she literally was able to hide. He paused making sure he wasn't going to be surprised anymore. Before walking out. Captain in waiting, another year before he would have the Bismarck. Sovereign class, wasnt a bad class. The enterprise now was a sovereign, and looking over the specs was in shock. But that was a year in waiting, and he knew this posting would be his in-training portion before actually getting it. It was his, if he had earned it.
Walking down the corridor he thought about it. It was time to meet the captain. It wasn't long before he reached the bridge. As it opened. He was amazed. Bigger than imagined. It was refitted. But this was beyond expectations.
"Commander Greyson Cameron reporting for duty." He replied as he walked over noticing the captain in the centre seat.
Leonard stood, greeting the new officer. "Welcome aboard, Commander." Leonard replied, offering his hand. The bridge was still relatively quiet, as not all the crew had reported in yet. Indeed, Leonard and Cameron were only joined by two others, Engineers making adjustments to the viewscreen. "What's your take on the Resolution so far?"
"Big. Starfleet outdid themselves with this ship." He replied. "My wife certainly loves the... additional space made for us." Greyson replied as he shook the man's hand.
"I'm glad to hear it, Commander," the Captain replied. He knew the needs of the Commander's wife, as a Security Officer had meant that some additional accomodation had had to be reached to enable her to both come aboard ship, but also to carry out her duties. "The Resolutions bridge is where the most obvious of the refit works have taken place. Uprated viewscreen, handling increased display resolution." He gestured to the forward consoles as he said, "upgrades to the Ops and Navigitional controls, specifically improving the control response times for our Flight Controller."
He turned then, gesturing to the Tactical rail, "the same upgrades have been made to the tactical rail controls, giving our incoming Tactical Officer improved targetting readout displays. As well as a seat." The Captain grinned then, as he thought about it. Commander Reeves had often complained about the lack of a chair for the Tactical Officer. He recalled that the Commander had stopped complaining about it when he had become Ex-Oh.
There was something he was interested in, tactical, he had downloaded the specs on it, but he and Tal had yet to look it over. It was actually how she and he had bonded on the Remmington. He was tasked with updating her on the ship, getting her familiar. Well as he familiarized her with the ship, she did so with him, about... well her.
The Captain headed up to the aft of the bridge, with Cameron following behind. "The aft stations too have seen additional processing power routed through. And, with the new port and starboard stations" at this, the Captain pointed to the two sets of stations on either side of the bridge, "we'll have a little bit of rearranging to do, assigning their usage. The starboard consoles will be assigned as Science Stations One through Three, but I'd like your input on the assignment of the Port stations, Commander, as well as any other suggestions that you may have to improve our operations."
"I like the fact that the tactical station is situated facing the viewscreen, I have been with the Remmington since the academy. Seated away from the screen never felt right to me." Greyson replied as he ran his fingers across the console, bringing up sensors, running a sweep. Running a test. Which meant deactivating phasers and torpedoes, and putting it on simulation mode which would give him the readings of what would happen would he actually have fired. With things to his liking. "I would like another panel or two used solely for tactical, based on experience with the Remmington, and a few changes I was able to make upon the ship, I found it worked better, while one was focused on the fight, the other can focus on smaller details, weaknesses, where during battle one can lose focus of when needing to."
Leonard nodded. "Good thinking Commander. We'll add a Tactical II station to the Aft console bank. That'll give 'Commander Johnson the option of having his number two behind him for support." Leonard glanced around the bridge once more. "We could probably also add an additional station for shipboard security, independent of the main Tactical board."
Greyson finally sat looking at the screen. "Absolutely. Can take seconds off if the officer at the rail is rendered unable to job. Seconds matter when you need it most." Greyson replied. It was mere seconds, but he had learned that the hard way, and it's a time he hadn't wanted to relive. He then stood up, walking around the bridge to the new portside consoles on the left of the Command seats...

The two had spent half an hour going back and forth on how they could best utilise the bridge systems, in the most efficient way, and they believed that they'd settled on the best configuration for the bridge console use. The port side stations would be set up for Engineering and Communications, with the third being assigned specifically to Damage Control status. Cameron had argued that having a dedicated damage control station on the bridge would allow for co-ordination of the damage control team efforts from the bridge, leaving engineering itself free of the administrative elements, and better able to implement effective repairs, particularly during combat operations. The aft stations had been rounded out with Mission Operations, joining Tactical II and Security II, as well as Science Station IV, and Environmental Control.
"Are we agreed then, Commander," Leonard began, "that this is the best utilisation of our bridge?"
"As far as I am concerned Captain, I believe we are agreed." Although there were a few things they couldn't agree with, they were minor.
"Excellent," Leonard replied. The two men were mostly still alone on the bridge. The Engineering tech's had finished their works on the viewscreen, and had left, whilst another tech team had been replacing the rollers in the doors to the aft section of deck one. Leonard had wondered why two separate tech teams had been assigned to the bridge, rather than one team dealing with all the bridge issues, but he had decided that it was probably best not to dwell on. If they were working to the refit schedule from station team, then he felt comfortable in the knowledge that it wasn't his own people that were operating inefficiently. "Commander, we're still a week out of the scheduled completion date. Can you co-ordinate with Commander Kane, and compile a readiness report of the refit progress, and look into our departmental staffing. I'd also like to schedule an appointment with you both to review our duty roster. Perhaps we could use this as an opportunity to assess whether our current scheduling is operating efficiently with our man-power resource, and what refinements we can make."
"I will head down to her as soon as we are done."
"Indeed," Leonard replied.
