Mission:
Welcome Aboard
Location: Corridor/Bridge
Timeline: current
Talshi walked around the ship, this was different, she had only been on the Remmington, only wanted the Remmington, her people when they were posted they were posted to the same spot, and nothing would move them, things werent discarded as easily as they were here. The remmington didnt need a.. refit. It served its purpose. It still fought and won. Sighing. But Greyson told her to accept the change, the Remmington had been his only posting, so this was just as new and strange as it was to hi
She walked through the corridors, watching as every engineer stared at her young kids seemed to be here as well, she smiled. Kids... Human kids, were so small. So fragile. She remembered the small ones on the other ship, then she remembered her son. Nine years old, off to the academy. over seven feet. He was all Na'vi, in appearance, but his attitude was all his fathers. She gave a smile.
Suddenly she felt a pull on her tail, she quickly wrapped her tail around it, and brought it up to face view. Taken aback it was one of the smaller kids, no more than three human years.
Then a womans scream, and a call to security.
She looked down, and realized, she was not in uniform,it was a large ship anyone go whereever on the ship or not. Which she also disliked, being the assistant chief and all.
She remained quiet, and gently brought the kid down to the mothers waiting arms. Only speaking to apologize to the childs mother. She awaited the moment, her new boss would arrive to the scene.
Tony had been a few corridors down when he got the call of situation taking place. Running down the hall, it didn’t take long for him to arrive on the scene. “What’s the emergency?
"She tried to take my child." The woman replied frantically. Pointing to the tall blue woman, who clearly should have wore more clothes.
“I scooped her up with my tail... I felt someone pulling on my tail. Instinct commander Johnson." talshi replied "I am Lt Talshi Cameron, assistant chief security officer."
“Oh,” Johnson replied. He recognized the name almost immediately. Turning his attention back to frantic woman.
“Ma’am this is clearly a misunderstanding. Also I might suggest not allowing the child to randomly pull tails.
"How was I supposed to know. The galaxy is full of oddballs, seeking children for slavery." The woman replied.
"Mommy... that was fun." The child exclaimed, "Can she do it again."
Talshi put her tail out once again, offering to take the kid. "I am walking your way ma'am."
"Oh very well." She replied allowing the child into the tail which slowly and gently wrapped around her.
Talshi turned to the Commander, "Walk and talk Commander." She looked down. Black skin, around the same height as Greyson. "questions Commander."
“Its quite obvious that you love children,” Tony laughed. “That’s going to be good on a ship this size with a lot families. So how was your trip?”
"Na'vian children don't stay this size. Apparently neither does human/Na'vian children. My child is nine. Been fully grown since he was five "
"So your child is part Human?” the Security Chief inquired. “What’s his name?”
"He's 9 years old, currently in starfleet academy. Shal'Ti is his name." She replied as they came to the childs stop. Placing her down on floor gently, before nodding to the woman and continuing. "Na'Vians dont age as slow as humans, but we also outlive... I will out live my husband by many centuries. So will our son."
Commander Johnson clearly didn’t know much about the Na’Vians in regards to the aging process. “So at what age does a typical Na’Vian become an adult?
"Well, Shal'Ti, became grown seven." She paused. "My people became extinct what you would call eons ago. I found that out after I came out of stasis a decade ago when the USS Remmington entered the void and released me from stasis." I am 30. Still quite young. An infant to my people, although your version of infancy is widely different from my peoples."
“Sorry to hear about the loss of your people,” Johnson responded. “Though clearly you have been doing quite alright. You have started a family and joined Starfleet. Looked over your record briefly. “Quite impressive."
"I have no idea how I ended here, I should have died with them, how I got stasis... no idea... We havent even figured out why my people disappeared."
“Nothing like a good mystery. I hope that you get the answers you seek one day. But on another note. What expectations do you have from this assignment or myself?”
"it was eons ago Commander. There is nothing left to find."\
"Understood,” Tony acknowledged. “So what are your expectations from this assignment?”
Tal thought about it, "Your job Commander." She replied as she walked into the turbolift. "Bridge." She responded, she had to find out what the bridge was like, if it did not accommodate her, there would be a problem. "If a person is doesnt expect to gain the position of their immediate boss... then whats the point in it all."
Johnson couldn’t help but to burst out laughing. “That has to be the most honest response that I have ever heard from anyone working for me. I can seriously respect that.”
The bridge came to a stop and Tal walked out, the bridge was huge and new. Not lie the Remmington. "So this is the tactical console. I dont like the seat. The rail is too low..." She wasnt bothered by it much. She may have been tall, but she does do well with small things. Using her tail, she was able to bring up anything she wanted. She was often remarked how lucky she was to have a third limb to do things with.
“Clearly the ship designers didn’t have your people in mind when they designed the Galaxy class,” Tony joked. “Have you any experience in serving with families?”
"Your oldest members weren't even evolved yet when my people were around." She replied as she paused. "Our society had different views on family. And the constructs of relationships." She thought about it. "It was thought of as our whole people were involved in one large marriage, or course no wedding, but whatever happened, whoever became involved with one, was all part. For us monogamy was not encouraged, though we would have one whom we would share house with, have young with."
“Well I ask because there are plenty of families on this ship. And to be honest, it’s a new dynamic for me. So I may require your advice quite a bit when it comes to addressing issues with them.”
"Ah, I see l Commander." Tal replied as she thought about it, she looked to the seat at the console and sat down. "Not half as bad as I thought it would be." She looked over to him, "In my understanding of your family dynamic, the type that is usually found on such ships... most problems, dont really require security. For the most part they require the ships counsellor." She turned. "You know... with my people when we want to know more about the people we are going to be working close with... sex is usually part of that getting to know." She went over the readings.
Tony raised an eyebrow clearly surprised. “Going to need you to clarify that last part.”
"I have grown accustomed to... what Starfleet refers to as normal professional relationships. For my people, sex is not just for our partners, but for those who share closeness at jobs, outings. Our mates, or partners receive additional levels of intimacy, one that only Greyson receives when we have sex." Tal replied as she turned to him. "To get to know people intimately, is counted on within my people." She replied getting closer to him, however as she was about to get really close she changed directions and into the back security consoles at the back. "Ill just trust you will get to know me well enough with not having to do that."
“And how does the Commander feel about that?” Johnson inquired. “We Humans tend not to be so open when it comes to sex. But your people’s views of sex seem to be familiar to Denobulans.”
"Honestly, at the beginning, it took getting used to. I got in trouble lots, but my husband was patient. Let's just say the holodeck came in handy. Even if it was a prototype on your ships."
“Clearly that man has a lot of patience,” he chuckled.
"Now with a new understanding, you can call our relationship an unconventional one." She started going over diagnostics.
“I see your eager to get started,” Johnson brought up. “And I should be getting back to my office to get back to the shift rotations. You have any other questions?”
"None Commander," She replied, not giving him any more of her attention, just going straight to work with diagnostic and security scans of the ship.
