Everything will be fine

Posted on Thu Dec 23rd, 2021 @ 12:54pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey

Mission: The Mentarin Effect
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current

Xavier walked into the sickbay upon learning of the potential of the illness affecting a crew member. Things of that nature always concerned him, especially when it came to the virus that wiped out half of the Wellington.

Sky was sitting on a biobed in quarantine, to say she was feeling rough was an understatement. She was presenting with s pretty chesty cough, though whether it was the illness from the planet, or the atmosphere itself was yet to be seen.

"Lt, how are you feeling."

Sky looked towards the window, and Xavier Carey on the other side. “I won’t lie Sir, definitely...rough.” She couldn’t help but cough. “I’m sorry, I should have been more careful.”

"Not your fault lt. I should have required proper protective equipment. It's happened to my previous posting before. We lost half the crew, and we didn't return to Federation space for a few Years after."

“Well I’m...hoping this won’t be...that severe.” Sky offered a glance towards the medical staff who were busy running scans and getting a better picture of what was ailing her.

"If they don't know what it is then it's probably what they have on the planet. From what I hear the Dr and our science department have an idea."

Sky nodded. “I certainly hope so Sir” She offered the nurse who was inside with her, kitted out in a special suit, a brief smile.

"I'm going to head to the labs after this and see how they are doing about a cure for you and them."

Sky offered a brief smile. “Do me a favour, come back and tell me when you know something.”

"Can I get you anything." He paused as he took a seat. "Whats your view of the people."

Sky shook her head. “I have...everything I need Sir.” She paused. “The people...they need help. Their medical facilities...are nothing compared to even the simplest I’ve seen! No...idea how to cure this disease of theirs. It could be...so easily sorted.”

"Their mental state?”

Sky paused. “Hopelessness...sheer hopelessness. They have a capacity for violence, as we all do. I only saw those innthe hospital area we went to, I’d need to see more of their world and it's people for a full evaluation.”

"If thats what they feel then I think the rest will be similar." The Captain agreed.

Sky nodded. “It would benefit these people to have a medical contingent assigned here...they need the help.”

"That's the plan lt."

Sky nodded. “That’s good to know Sir.”

"Just sit tight. We will figure it out." Xavier replied standing

Sky nodded. “It’s not like...I have much of a choice Sir.”
