What do I do with all the space?

Mission: The Lost Brother
Location: Chief Science Officer's Quarters

Her boxes stayed packed for quite a bit longer than they probably should have, for someone who had lined up a permanent assignment. It's not that she wasn't sure of the assignment, it was just that it had been so long since she'd had any permanence that she didn't quite know what to do with it.

The duffel bag she normally carried was empty and its contents were spread over the standard issue desk that sat in the corner of the room in front of a comm screen. Living out of a duffel bag on a dig site was easy, but setting up a place to live to call your own was somewhat anxiety inducing. It didn't hurt that be quarters for the chief science officer we're bigger than anything she'd ever had before, and Paige wasn't sure if she had enough things to actually fill the space.

"I could actually have a home." She muttered to herself passing her hand over her eyes in some disbelief. "I've never known what that was like, I wonder what I am supposed to do with it."

"Inadequate information, Please restate question." The computer intoned

Paige squeaked and dropped her glass, spilling coffee over the rug. The glass didn't break but she snarled a curse under her breath. Scrambling to the bathroom, she found a towel and knelt beside the wet spot on her rug.

"All inquiries to the computer will be preceded by Computer."

"Acknowledged "

She pressed a towel down to mop up the puddle that was still above the carpet, then sprinkled absorbent on the spill and was relieved to see it disappear from her rug.

"Computer, please beam the contents of storage area Epsilon 971 to my quarters. Alpha boxes here, beta boxes in the bedroom.".

They swirled into being in the room and she heaved a sigh. She would start with the bedroom. Give it a clean, then start setting everything up. Pulling the standard sheets off the bed she tossed them into the recycler. The sheets that she owned were in a box, carved ornately that she settled at the foot of her bed. On top of the box, there was a cover for the bed that would mold to her form and allow her to sleep no matter what was underneith her. Placing it on a mattress was like sleeping on the very clouds themselves. Opening the box once more, she pulled out a set of soft silvery grey sheets and stretched them over the bed. Over top of that another sheet and she smoothed them gently. One more trip to the box and out came a weighted quilt of dark wine burgundy, white and aqua. It had copper threads here and there, and was both weighted and soothing.

She came back to the bed and flopped backwards onto the softness. Her fingers traced the spiral pattern and she smiled.

"Home sweet home, I guess."
