What's Up, Doc?

Mission:
Welcome Aboard
Location: Sickbay
ON
Once she'd reported in, her next priority was getting her initial physical. Starfleet was pretty strict about being checked out for every new assignment and the last thing she wanted was to make the doctor track her down because she forgot. She wasn't sure why so many people put it off. She'd never had a bad experience working with a doctor. Not yet, anyway.
She walked into sickbay and looked for someone to help her.
Milton had been tidying up the SIck Bay and his staff were doing the odd jobs as he had probe from a tricorder and the source tricorder being slowly jungled as he was looking at a read out on the Wall Screen. It was the chemical breakdown of the Amino Acids and the variations of some type either a mutation or evolution of the sample that was being exposed to varying light.
"Welcome to Sick Bay..." Catching the two objects Milton turned to note the new lady that had entered. "How can I be of service?" He asked as he waved a hand and the screen blackened.
"Hi. I just arrived and am in need of a physical." She nodded to the now-dark screen. "If you're busy, I can come back later."
"No one likes going to the Doctor twice for the same thing." He smiled and wink as he gesture for the Biobed nearest them. "We have an opening right over here and it is also the Quick and Painless option."
She smiled and slipped onto the biobed. "I'm Vanessa Jackson. Nice to meet you."
"It is a pleasure , I am Doctor RJ." He offered a handshake. "We are less formal down in Sick Bay." He smiled
She shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, doctor. Did you just come aboard, too?"
"Yes, I am a newly planted member of the crew." He admitted as he turned the unit on and was glancing over a padd while he spoke. "This a promotion to be the chief of Science?" He asked. "I finally get my own Sick Bay and was just wondering if you were the same?" He made eye contact to hear the reply as is polite manners.
"I was the head of science on my last ship, but this one is larger and gives me more opportunities for research and exploration." From what she'd seen so far, it was going to be a lot of fun--at least from a science point of view.
Activating the scans and taking his Tricorder out he smiled as he asked the question. "Is there anything irregular or have you been of good health of late?" He was waiting before taking the readings.
A small glow of Pix was at the door of the CMO with a little set of hands on the door frame and blonde haired face giving a tentative look to the woman at the Biobed; she seemed to be looking at the color of the uniform abd staying a bit hidden while she remain near the upper third of the doorway peeking in.
The movement caught Vanessa's eye. She had no idea what the creature was as she resembled something from a fairy tales more than any species she knew of. She smiled at the little creature. "I think someone wants your attention, or is curious."
"Your uniform and she heard you are in Science." Milton mentioned. "Little Pix is not a major fan of scientists, they kind of scare her." He started up the monitors as he spoke to get a beginning of the scans. "Some of the past science officers and staff wanted to analyze her biology and they were not as good a 'bedside manner' and treated her more like a lab experiment." He nodded to Jackson. "She does not like the poking and prodding. She is just a bit shy around your department personnel. I can ask her to stay in there if you like?"
Vanessa smiled at Pix. "I can see both sides. The curiosity to learn more about a new species, and the fear of being poked and prodded. But they didn't have the right to treat you like anything but a sentient being with rights. As a scientist, I apologize for that."
She turned to the doctor. "I'd be skittish, too, under those circumstances." She'd be more than skittish, if she were honest with herself.
Pix took to her flight and sailed along the upper third of the sick Bay to take residence atop the Biobed Display looking down at the Science Officer; her glow a little brighter. She was evaluating the woman from a higher vantage point.
"Oh, I think she will come around eventually." He got a sly grin and moved slightly closer to speak in a lower voice. "Real squeezed grape juice, baout 70%of qa plump juicy grape made into real juice and cold." He nod to Jackson. "You ever want a chance to make friends with her, that's the way to do it."
"I'll remember that. Thanks." Vanessa didn't look at the little creature, but she was keenly aware of where she was. Vanessa was fascinated by her and wanted to learn more, but she didn't want to make the creature any more skittish than she already was. In time, she would hopefully get a chance to talk. Did the creature talk? She wasn't sure. Later, perhaps, she'd ask the doctor.
"How would you rate your health, nothing out of the ordinary I should know about?" Milton asked and using his eyes he noticed Pix but did not react as usual. "Anything I should know about out of the norm?"
"I don't think so. I had the usual childhood. A few broken bones, but nothing serious," she replied.
"I like to make things painless as possible." He had the Biobed systems beginning the scan. "Pix will not get any closer she knows the system is running so she will keep where she is." Milton assured.
"I don't mind. She looks harmless enough." She smiled at Pix again.
Pix tilted her head, evaluating the threat of this new woman, glancing down she saw the display working and thought her place above was safest. Giving a reluctant grin back she watched the Science Officer.
"Other than her brightness being a problem once in a while and pixie dust when she is happily flying about she has little influence over the Sick Bay. We let her fly about as she pleases, harmless enough when you look at it." He replied as he checked the scans while he spoke. "Sentient and aware but more of a cute little being than anything else."
"I've never heard of her species, or her world. Are they part of the Federation?" Vanessa asked.
"Officially we never sighted her people, just know it is the only Class M planet in the system and that if falls under the Prime Directive." Milton had the Oxy levels and blood counts are all well into the normal range. "So we really have not classified her race, we have named her the Pixies." He chuckled. "Actually the Science Section; their Social anthropologist or some other title classified her as a Pixie Bucca." He shrugged Science was not my study."
"Well, she does look like what a pixie from the old tales are said to look like, so it fits. Is there anything else you need from me? I don't want to annoy her any more than I have to."
"I think you are more of a strange curiosity to her." Milton was making the clearances in the official records. "With most science types you would never know she is here; she likes to observe from the upper ventilation vents when someone annoys her so fact she is in sight does show some favor towards you." With a snap of his fingers he offered a wrapped small package. "I find ladies like chocolate over lollipops when they are good." He chuckled. "I even managed some Andorian chocolate." He offered it to Jackson. "You were so good you are cleared until you next scheduled physical."
"Thank you," she said, taking the package and opening it. "I do like chocolate." She slipped off the biobed. "Thank you for the clearance, too. And tell your friend it's okay. Scientists should take their turn being examined." She gave a polite half-bow to the doctor. "See you." She popped the chocolate into her mouth and walked out of sickbay.
