Xavier had sat in his office, his crew did their best given the issues with the reintegration of saucerand the star drive. something didn't sit well though. The decision he made to leave with the 'battle' wasn't officially over. In a real fight, he knew he wouldn't be leaping out, and truth be told he couldn'thave foretoldthe issues with the integration. But, until everything was back in order, he was needed on the bridge.
"Computer patch me into Commodore Christopher Benoit, starfleet HQ." He replied turning to the screen.
It didn't take long before his face appeared on the screen. "Captain, couldn't wait for the bismarck?"
"Not the way I had envisioned Chris," Xavier replied as he leaned back. "I had expected a longer stint here, but what can I do."
Raising an eyebrow, "Issues Xavier I take it. Need advise."
"My first officer, Antonia Stoffels..."
It took a moment for Chris to realize. "The Antonia Stoffels. How are you handling it."
"I am married and engaged.... its a long story, the chief counselling officer is quite a person... and both Tal and I... fell for her... as she did us. Not looked good upon, but, things happen."
Christopher sighed, "I ain't going to ask. But I read reports, unofficially, as you sent them to me, as you always seem to do.I am surprised. It was a drill, and there was a medical emergency."
Xavier took a deep breath, "Well, I wanted to pull what I have done in the past on the Wellington, when we dealt with some... cardassians... beaming over..."
Christopher nodded, "Good strategy, however..."
"Tals biology had an adverse reaction. In a panick, the drill was shut down, I beamed over to the medical bay... and..."
Christopher stopped him. "Captain, drill or not your first duty is to the ship and her crew, you have a highly sought after Chief Medical officer, as eccentric as he is, he is one of the fleets finest. She was in good hands. I know about the whole scenario with the trouble with the reintegration. It is why you need to remain on bridge at all times."
Xavier nodded.
"Look, this isn't chastising, I know you, I have seen you from a cadet, to ensign, right to my first officer onboard the Wellington. This isnt our deep space assignment anymore." Christopher responded. "I am going to suggest omit this from your official logs, however do not hide it. It was a mistake, and some need to make them in order to grow. This was hopefully yours. Remember, just because there is a medical emergency does not mean the battle is over. It could be just starting."
"Aye sir." Xaviers reply was. He sat back still thought about what the guy on the screen had said to him. Everything made sense. It was true, he was thinking more like he was able to before, on his last posting, not as he was now. "Thank you sir."
"How is she?" Christopher inquired
"Still recovering, Doc said there was no real damage..."
"Tell her theres a bottle of Andorian whisky on the way for her."
"Will do sir, Resolution out."
