Allergy reaction

Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Right after Target practice Part 2
After being beamed onto the stardrive, Xavier took a moment to adjust his surroundings. He turned to sky. "I wonder what the hell happened?"
Sky shook her head. “I don’t know, no doubt we’ll get some answers from Rutherford.” She looked perplexed. “I don’t understand why I didn’t sense something was wrong with Tal, when we Betazoids bond with others as I have with both of you we can normally sense when something is wrong.”
Milton was hovered over Talsi when he noted the Transporter beaming over; no time to really note who it was; his gut reaction was the Captain and Sky; not that much of a stretch actually for them to be here with Talsi affected.
"Give me a minute here." Milton announced more to the Captain and Sky than the Bridge crew as they had seen his scans and he hoped the confidence Milton displayed in his rendering aid.
The strong Anti-histamine and the minor muscle relaxant was to counter the bodily reaction to inhalant. What is nothing more than irritation to a majority of Humanoids can be hazardous to some non-human physiologies. This was an inhaled irritant; not unlike the strong smell of an Earth Skunk; almost harmless to humans and the like , had a very severe reaction in Talsi's case. It was closer to a common Military Test ; some branches had the soldiers experience the effects of Tear Gas to build their immunity to the gas. It appears that poor Talsi was having a similar reaction in this condition. Quickly adjusting a mobile level two Breathing apparatus to a setting closer to her planet's atmosphere he placed it over her face to protect the breathing pathways as well as the eyes. The minor skin irritation is a symptom not unlike a reaction to Tear Gas effect of irritation of the skin.
Slow is smooth and Smooth is fast Milton though as he controlled his pace so not to allow the urgency to cause him to rush and maybe miss something as this whole reaction is 'alien' and thus had to be sure he covered all the numbers.
Sky moved around the opposite side of Tal gently placing her hand on Talsi’s as Rutherford worked. “We’re her now Tal, you’ll be okay.” She was horrified to see what something so unharmful to humanoids had done to Tal but she didn’t let it show.
I am almost ready for a site to site Sky. to Isolation Room One." He informed the counselor as he took up his tricorder again for a final stability check before transport.. "I hate to say this but three will be a crowd so when I transport you will have to let her go, I want her in a sterile environment just to be safe while she recovers, not long but still with Xeno-physiology it bet to side on caution. His scan was just completed.
Sky nodded letting go of Talsi’s hand she moved back alongside Xavier offering him what emotional support she could whilst in a public setting. “I didn’t feel this happen, maybe my connection with Talsi doesn’t work like it does between Betazoids, or Betazoids and Humans. I’d normally feel that something was wrong.”
"Transporter Room, Isolation Room One site to site... Energize." Milton said before the two shimmered away.
Xavier looked to Sky, "What did I do?"
Sky offered an understanding glance. “It’s not your fault, you didn’t know. None of us knew.”
***Isolation Room One ***
Talsi shimmered into existence on the Biobed. The small closet of a Room had only room for two medical personnel in the room one to each bedside really. The ventalation system was keyed to the atmosphere recorded as the Planet of her origin. The Filter mask that Milton wore is sufficient to protect his lungs and still allow him to do his job. As the gases hissed he gently took off her mask and then activated the Biomonitoring.
"That should get us on track." Milton commented as the bed took a full body scan of Talsi.
Xavier reached the room and stood outside the room as he watched though a window. "I transported over some natural odor causing gas. Namely skunk spray.... how did that cause this."
Sky stood looking through the glass at Talsi. “Her species obviously don’t react well to something in the spray.”
Milton took a quick check of the monitoring equipment before he went out of the Isolation Room One, passing through the sterilization field that kept Talsi in her native environment. Removing the mask only after the door had resealed , he also breathed deeply after being in the mask. Looking at the Captain and Sky he gave an assuring grin; typical for the Doctor's persona, while nodding to them.
"She will be fine in a bit." Milton move close to Talsi's Family. "It could have been worst if not on the Bridge and in a more confined space." Milton began." SHe is having a reaction to an element her body chemistry does not prefer." He shrugged. "Being 'Alien to the more typical 'Humanoid' crew members we have to accept that there are conditions unique to every species and thus some quirks that can happen."
Looking from the Captain to Sky he tried to be calming.
"When these 'Unique Biological traits appear as harmful it is usually at an unexpected time and seeming 'out of the blue.' to the casual observer." He chuckled. "individuals react to 'Allergens' in many ways. That what this was in esence, a reaction. Some humans react to Iodine allergies from antiseptics based upon Earth Shell Fish, or as bug bite to a Trill." He shrugged. "The severity is that individuals reaction to what the body deems a toxin. In this case a Toxin that was like Anaphylactic Shock, Symptoms You typically notice the first symptoms within 15 minutes of coming into contact with the thing you're allergic to. In this case the 'Skunk Bomb."
Sky nodded as she took in what Rutherford was saying, offering her support to Xavier as best as she could.
"In Her case the reaction was not unlike being expose to a gas..." Milton had to search for the best way to describe the condition in a parallel. "Basically it was ; to most' just a strong stink to the sense of smell to a point of not being able to concentrate due to the strong smell; to Talsi her body reacted the same as a person exposed to... Tear Gas might react. Very scary in a medical sense but easily able to be compensated for and will Not have lingering affects." He assured. "She just need a little bit of rest and the closer conditions to her home to purge the toxins out of her system."
Looking to the Captain.
"There was no way you could have predicted this, if you had not done it we would not have know she is susceptible to it." He placed a hand on the man's shoulder as support. "We often realize allergies after the fact, it will be all right and Talsi will not be worst for the wear, but her smells and taste might take a day or two to return to normal , that is the worst side effect she should encounter in theory."
“That’s good news Rutherford” Sky smiled warmly. “Isn’t it Xavier?”
"It is... Still... one cannot feel guilty whether it is known or not."
Sky nodded. “I’d be more worried if you didn’t feel like it was your fault, not that I’m saying it is!” She sighed. “None of us knew to expect something like this.”
"Allergic reactions are omny detectable when they happen." Milton emphasized. "I am one who has a specialty in Xeno -Biology and I had to guess at this one." He have a kind grin. "And she will be fine, a little time in a friendly environment and she will be good as new. Don't let good tactic get in the way of decisions, Command School teaches that, do what is best and do not let personal feelings get in the way. The important less to this is 'What have we learned? We know an allergin so be careful on Earth that no skunks are about, but also it is not a fatal allergy, I cat give you a hypo with a one shot should you need it in the future so all can be back to normal Captain."
Nodding, "That will be appreciated doc." He replied with a grin. "Command school was something I was not able to attend. My previous ship was presumed lost for three years before we made our way back to federation space. I left as an ensign, returned as a first officer."
Sky looked towards Xavier. “I can’t imagine how hard that must have been, especially with no formal command training. I’m very proud of you.
"I had great officers in front of me, hence why i am here." He looked at the time, "I wanted to make sure she was fine... seeing that I know shes in good hands I will leave her in them. He leaned over and gave sky a kiss, "You stay here, she should see a loved one when she wakes up."
Sky nodded. “Don’t worry I’ll be here for her.”
Squeezed her hand, he turned and left knowing that she would be fine.
