Another nonalcoholic drink

Posted on Wed Jun 29th, 2022 @ 8:59am by Tyler Armstrong & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey

Mission: The Lost Brother
Location: Bar
Timeline: After the bartender

Tyler had just watched the Commander leave, and talking with her, he had some idea on what drink to name after her. Although she had the outwards appearance of a strong confidant Commander, something told him there was some uneasiness with her. He grabbed a crate and started piling the bottles on the shelf against the wall.

Sky arrived at the bar simply looking for something to do other than stare at the walls. Walking over to the bar she cleared her throat to get the new bartender’s attention.

Walking over, he gave her a smile. "So what can I get for you Lt Jansen."

“Mmm good question” Sky sighed. “I think I’ll have a cocktail please, a Risan sunset I think.” She offered a polite smile.

"Coming right up. Although not many people order the nonalcoholic version ."

“Well I’m afraid I do.” Sky smiled. “Alcohol and pregnancy generally don’t mix, especially for me. Alcohol tends to go to my head.”

Smiling, "Well... congratulations."

Sky grinned. “Thank you! It’s all very exciting.”

"So tell me about yourself."

“Me?” Sky smiled. “There’s not a lot to know about me really. My mother is Betazoid, my father is Romulan, though I know nothing about him. I’ve been in Starfleet for twelve years, and I’m engaged to Captain Carey. Some people find it weird that he has a wife, and a fiancée but we’re all happy with it.”

"As long as you are happy. Betazoid and Romulan. Interesting don’t hear about Romulans over here that often."

“Can’t say I’m not relieved to hear that” Sky grinned. “It’s awkward enough being Romulan without them stirring up trouble.”

"The race does not make the person, and the person does not make the race." Tyler replied as he leaned back and unknowingly took a drink of the nonalcoholic beverage spitting it out. "Wrong hole." He spluttered and coughed... "What we know about the romulan people are their military, we know nothing of the civilians."

Sky nodded. “That’s true. I guess I sound pretty harsh.”

"Not harsh, just... like all starfleet, dont necessarily see both sides."

“I guess you do have a point.” Sky offered a smile as she picked up her drink and took a sip. “Mmm...nice and refreshing. So what’s your story?”

"My story... just a former security officer that decided to get into bartending instead." A wry smirk told that there was a lot more, but, it quickly dissipated.

Sky smiled. “I get a feeling there’s more to it, but it’s none of my business. Have you been bartending for long?”

"I would say there is more to it, but I like having the mystery." He paused as he thought about it. "7 years, I spent 2 in starfleet."

“I take it you enjoy the interaction with the crew?” Sky smiled. “You probably get them to talk easier than we Counsellor’s do.”

Smiling, “I was just able to steer the commander into a direction she didnt know she had."

“Ohh? Dare I ask what direction that is?” Sky looked at the bartender curiously as she drank more of her drink.

"I am not entirely sure, but she seemed to know exactly what to do."

Sky nodded. “I certainly hope it’s a good thing, and she’s not going off to do anything silly!”

"I am sure it is, she seemed in a different mood going out."

“In that case you’ve managed more than I could” Sky smiled. “Ever thought of becoming a counsellor?”

"As I told the Commander, I prefer the ambiance of the bar."

Sky sipped her drink. “Can’t say I blame you on that one! People talk so much easier at the bar than they do sitting in a Counsellor’s office.”

"I wouldn't worry too much about it."

“Don’t worry I won’t” Sky grinned before sipping her drink again.

"So what's your plan. Will you be accompanyimg the away team."

Sky shrugged her shoulders. “That depends on whether Xavier, and Tony are willing to allow me to go.”

"I wouldn't be too pushy to go. With your pregnancy, its probably safer you stay onboard."

Sky nodded. “There’ll be no argument from me either way, I trust Xavier and Tony to make the right decisions.”

"That is good to know."

Sky offered a smile. “So what is it you do to relax? Besides serve drinks and talk to people?

"Stamp collecting. It's exciting "

“Really?” Sky grinned. “Can’t say I’ve ever tried it, who uses stamps anymore?”

"It's another type," he wasn't going to disclose anything further perhaps in time

“Ohh I see” Sky grinned. “Not going to give me any hints huh?” She drank her drink . “I should be getting back. It’s been nice getting to know you.”

"Likewise Lt."
