shuttle exam

Posted on Sun Aug 7th, 2022 @ 8:34am by Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton

Mission: The Lost Brother
Location: shuttlebay

Tony felt ill at ease walking with the two other men to shuttebay. She liked both of them very much and she still felt that Ren falling out with the doctor was not necessary. She was someone who did not react well to tension in the air but she did not know what to do about it.

"Let us know when it is safe for us to come in, commander." She said to Wagnor keeping it very formal.

Wagnor looked at the doctor, "I honestly have no idea why the captain is insisting that you be here. Fortunately I do my best to keep an open mind which seems to be a foreign concept to you and your associates."

Milton did not have to be physic to know he is not wanted. He quietly opened his tricorder and ran a quick calibration dianostic to be safe. Then took out his probed and scanned the area as though testing it.

"That is enough, commander Wagnor. you will play nice with the doctor while on duty and I do expect the two of you to sit down as soon as duty allows and work this out. We are a team and we need to work together."

"I'm not here to be nice I'm here to be efficient. I am telling things as they are and giving the amount of respect I have been given, no more no less." Soran spoke in an even tone, "If you have a problem with that; by all means continue to treat your officers like five year olds and tell the captain we're not playing nice."

Tony had to look away so he would not see how much that hurt. Instead of mentoring her in her position as XO he was now the one tearing her down and making her look weak in front of others and in that moment she really hated her old friend.

"Why don't you do your job, commander while keeping your mouth shut." She hissed still not looking at either man.

Soran kept his expression neutral and began typing on a PADD, he handed it to her. He new he was out of line, he also offended by the way she was speaking to him.

<*>'I will not speak unless I am ordered to do so Ma'am. We both know I cannot efficiently do my job without speaking. Are you really going to endanger the people who we're trying to rescue with this ridiculous order? You're trying to treat me like a child but you're the one who's lost composure and I'm embarrassed for you.'<*>

Tony had to turn away so that neither of the men would see her tears. She could not understand why Ren was being the way he was. She had always supported him, been his therapist when many colleagues had told her not to bother as they did not think he could be saved. And now he was repaying her this way while she had counted on him to be a mentor were it came to being a commander. He had just shown her what she had feared was true. She was not command material and she had embarrassed herself.

He motioned for the doctor to stay where he was and then entered the shuttle.

"Have you ran a Bio-screening?" That is a standard operation in a Forensic operation, be it Medical, Science or Security procedure when looking at a suspect area, He also called a forcefield to 'Contain the area immediately around the shuttle like one would to quarantine an area. "I might also ask if this was to be examined why such things as a protective quarantine screen had not been erected to minimize the exposure to elements that could contaminate the shuttle? Glancing up. "I did a routine scan, you can enter the shuttle and look but more than a step might contaminate my scans as I wouold have to filter out and of your 'physical evidence during the scan.' as I would like to capture as many types of DNA in the shuttle so to ascertain who might have been in it as well as the occupant... Sir." He did respect the man's rank if not the man himself.

Continuing to scan.

"I have also come along as I am a Medical researcher also and the closest thing to a forensic tech in the small pool of people the Captain wishes to keep under these wraps you might say>" He have a polite smile. "I am told I am a good Doctor as well so two birds."

Soran moved to the doorway of the shuttle. He gave Tony a look, rolled his eyes and began typing on a PADD. He handed it to the doctor. It said,

'I did my scans before I entered, I'm trained in forensics. I like your opinion on my blood spatter analysis.'

He found the doctor's responses to this situation interesting, perhaps I have misjudged the man. he thought.

Tony just could not take it anymore. However much she wanted to be here she couldn't. "You two carry on here and tell the captain what you find. I will be in my office." With that she just about ran away.

Soran swallowed hard as he watched his friend leave, he sighed. This needed to end this.

"Lieutenant, the last time I entered your Medbay I was dismissed out of hand without a single question or explanation. I've been an outsider the majority of my life, Even so I did not expect to be treated that way here." He said quietly, "I believe an explanation and/or apology are in order."

Milton seemed taken off guad; his active mind did not recall sneding anyone away without a word, yet he had been under a lot of pressure of late with all the preparations and research into the people missing and such that his mind was a bit scattered.

"If you would accept an Ppology , I do sometimes get wrapped up in research and preparations for a mission." He scratched his chin in thought. "I don't recall Pix kicking m head any like she does when I am not my ususal self. "He shook his head. "But that is not the concern." Milton met eye contact. "I was rude and with no excuse I would humbly appologize for my foreseen behavior. I am usually more polite and enjoying of company in Sick Bay . He offered and hand as a gesture of his sincerity. "I am in deed sorry if I gave that impressoin and will not do such in the future." He gave a diplomatic grin. "And I will let Pix know to keep an eye on me for future interactions so I do not make that mistake again."

Soran took the man's hand and gave a cautious smile, he wanted to believe the man. Trust was never easy for him, but he could see the he was sincere. He thought about the way Pix had reacted to him and sighed.

"I've been an outsider most of my life, I've had to fight for respect and dignity. I seem to have misinterpreted your behavior and I'm sorry." He gave him a weary look, "Pix has taken a strong dislike to me, that I don't understand."

"That might not be so easy to answer without her about." Milton chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Generally she likes nearly everyone. She is a type of Ambient Emotional conduit." He admitted. "She gets a type of charge off positive emotions; her glow brightens and dims by the emotional emanations around her. That being said, it would have to be something really bad to her... glow to cause a reaction, I know she hates scientists, psychologists and researchers." He put his hand up to emphasize. "When first found she was sent to be 'evaluated' by the science department, a lot of poking and prodding that she found.. distasteful and ..." He stopped. "Well you are not in those categories so there are only a couple or so things that might spark her to not be friendly.

As soon heard the man speak he thought of his own experiences with the Angosian soldier program. It seemed he had a lot more in common with this little being than he would have thought.

"The first is if you try to harm her either physically or telepathically." Milton started. "And I would have felt it through Pix and my Bonding; she felt no threat of pain." He scratched his chin in thought. "Of course if you caused uneasy or hurt one of her friends she might be protective and think ill of you. Sky is one of her BFF's and Pix already is connected to Sky and the XO strongly. Any; and I do mean 'A-n-y' mental or physical anguish would set her off." He added. "The only real problem where she hated someone was a research Xeno-Biologist who said she had to be a intricate Hologram as no creature with her physical attributes and such could exist"

Milton got very serious in his expression.

"The person really believed Pix was not in existence and would not even look at her while giving her opinion, it was like Pix had not been in the room, and when the emphasis came on this Researcher not believing in Pix's existence ... " Milton cringed. "If you can imagine metals bells shattering after impacting and metal bending?" He nod. "I heard her scream two labs over and came running just as Pix flew right into my chest with enough force I took several steps back , She was crying and shaking and in my mind I sensed her need to be far from that woman. "Not being acknowledged as a being somehow hs the opposite effect upon Pix; she is physically caused pain. Her glow fades if someone ignores her also." Milton shrugged. "That is about all the reason I know that effect her in any kind of annoyance of getting her mad."

"Mentally, I've been in a very dark place for several months," Soran confessed. "I try not to burden others so I haven't been very open with Pix or anyone else. As for Lt. Jenson I never meant to hurt her… I understand that she wanted to help, I wish she'd left me alone. I've never asked anyone to walk through my hell with me."

"That will have to be resolved through some fine emotional footwork." Milton chuckled nervously. "Never seen Pix with a grudge but my gut tells me it would not bode well." Shaking his head. Luckily she is more of a forgiving soul and would rather be happy than angry so you have that in your favor. Sky might have to be involved to mediate, Pix will likely avoid getting near you if there is a problem. And she 'is' really good at avoiding and hiding if she take her mind to the task." He shrugged. "Yet she is a good judge of character and would go out of her way to be kind, just do not do anything that might add fury to Pix concerning Tony her BFF and Sky."

Soran nodded, "we can figure that out later. I'm sorry you saw the dispute between me and the commander, I trust that can stay between the three of us?"

"Nothing to do with the Medical Department." Milton wanted to express his knowing that there are somethings that happen outside the usual sphere of things. "People are people and the past is the past." He chuckled. "Too bad it sometimes has a way of entwining itself in the present state of things.

"I do need opinion on the spatter analysis in shuttle," he sighed. "I don't like what I'm seeing."

"Milton was careful as he took the sensory probed out and focused on the spaltter marks. "I can see that his blood is not the only DNA present." Milton noted. "There is the distinct signs of a struggle yet no other persons on board." It was not what Milton liked to hypothisize upon. "WHat concerns me is while thereare marks and evidence , what happened to those that the DNA belong to and is our new 'Gueswt' a part of what happen to those people?"

"Can you cross the DNA with the medical records of others marines that are missing?" Wagnor asked.

"I can do that." Milton said as he programmed the parameters in his tricorder. "Do a little computer search magic..." He noted as the search began.

The records flashed through the smaller database first of those that were on the list of missing. The names all were accessed, the DNA evidence compared and probabilities were confirmed the if negative went to another search. Several guards that were on the detail had residual DNA in the shuttle but not in the splatter for the most part.

"Got one, a Corporal James Duncun, human , assigned as security detail, his is pretty pronounced, I can tell he probably did not go down without a fight."

"And the other two are clearly Klingon," Wagnor rubbed is chin. "So a fight happened in the shuttle. The question is what happened to the other marine?"

" I am no combatant." Milton began. "The first thing that comes to mind is... Disruptor maybe, he was taken out early or incapasitatede before they had a chance to react?"

"The fighting in here was hand-to-hand; there are no disruptor burns and way too much blood for it to be anything else." He motioned to the shuttle. "The burns on the side of the shuttle was probably a hand disruptor. We'll have the science department confirm it."

Wagnor plugged some information into a PADD, "I think that's about all I need from the shuttle. I'm gonna go find the Commander and we'll meet you in the Captain's office."

He turned and exited the bay.I
