Repairs

Posted on Fri Nov 4th, 2022 @ 2:10pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Etan tar-Lexros & Lieutenant Geiger Zaal

Mission: Evacuation
Location: Main engineering
Timeline: Current

With everything settled down, Xavier went and checked on the repairs, and seeing how they were going. Walking up to Main engineering, he wasn't surprised to see Lt Tar-Lexros looking over pads, and getting things ready.

"How's it going Lt?"

Geiger had been working hard with the repairs as most of the engineering department were pitching in. He was situated across from the pool table at one of the wall consoles completing the repair documentation before moving along.

"Ah sir, since you're here, here's the latest status on the repair effort. We've managed to cut some time out," the Trill said as he handed him a PADD with the reports. "Chief wanted me to deliver this to you. I was actually on my way to see you."

Accepting the padd he looked at it. "Oh what's going on Lt."

"We estimate the repairs will be completed within the next couple of hours, a few hours ahead of schedule," the Trill commented. "The detail status of the repairs completed and forth coming are listed on the PADD. I'll have a complete report for you once we are complete."

"Few hours ahead thats good news compared to what news we have with a bunch of people move."

"We've been doing what we can to get the systems to minimal support so that we can get underway quicker. Once we get to that point, we can bring the affected systems to optimal conditions. That'll take us to the approximate time that the chief stated originally," Geiger relayed their attack plan to the Captain.

"Very good Lt." Xavier replied, as he looked around, noticing everyone at work. "Keep it up Lt."

Etan had been assigned to oversee the repairs to the ship along with the Engineering staff. He was slowly getting more comfortable in his role as Chief Operations Officer. As a department, Operations was unusual - especially when one moved into a leadership position. Instead of being either a subject matter expert or a repairman, leaders in Ops had to be functionally aware of all the functions of their department, their staff's best skills, and all the projects going on across the ship. So he was standing at the 'pool table' Engineering display with an array of PADDs around him and the engineering schematics in front of him. When the Captain entered, he'd given the man a wordless nod, hoping he'd be left to work for a bit. Lieutenant Zaal was just as capable of reporting their preparations and initial repairs. A moment later, he was issuing orders to his staff and coordination requests to Helm and Engineering. Neither was strictly necessary at this time thanks to auto-approvals, but keeping everyone abreast of the situation left a trail of evidence so that others could emulate the repairs if needed later. He did look up when Lieutenant Zaal gave an estimate of a few hours. It seemed fair, but he'd have wanted longer just for test purposes.

Still, it seemed rude to say nothing or barely whisper into a commbadge. So he looked up and spoke. "We will, sir. Resolution may not be inspection-ready as soon as we've completed repairs, but we will restore full function."

"In time, yes," Geiger mentioned to the Captain. "We'll get there, sooner rather than later. Having Lieutenant tar-Lexros assisting with the operational side has been quite helpful. It's reduced the amount of time it would normally take us to get things out of the Operations department."

"Thank you Lt." He turned to the Ops chief. Then to the engineer. "Very good... let me know when all is 100%."

"Will do, sir," Lieutenant Zaal stated. "If there's nothing else, I'm going to get back to it."
