To Sickbay
Posted on Fri Jan 22nd, 2021 @ 10:46pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton & Lieutenant Vanessa Jackson
Mission:
The Mentarin Effect
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Current
Cameron sat on the bridge, going over the mission details one more time, the history of the Mentarins, apparently it was Kirk who had first set eyes on these people and recommended the trade. It wouldn't be til years later it had actually started. He looked around the ship. It was obvious, he was getting antsy about it all.
Vanessa was at the science station, running additional scans while she waited for the probe to send back its findings.
"Lt Jackson, what have you got?" He asked as he looked back.
"I'm reading 90% deforestation across the planet. Major oceans and rivers show near-toxic levels of pollutants and there are heavy metals in the atmosphere. I estimate 50-70 years before the inhabitants won't be able to live outside," she replied.
Leaning back in the Captains seat, Cameron paused. These people literally were killing themselves. For what. "Understood." He turned to the Doctor. "What do you think Doctor. With everything that sensors are telling us, what medical repercussions are happening, given what you know now?"
"While they are not needing Level One hazard Protective gear the rapid change in the environments will be wide spread and the successive generations will be paying more of a tainted price by the spewing of toxins into the atmosphere." Rutherford said. "Problem is that the reports I am getting from the surface are more traumatic than should be for this toxin levels in the air. There are a few medicinal ideas that might be a slight deterrent."
"Well, given this goes smoothly, we can get you down there to help them come up with a treatment should they..."
"Commander, I am reading some odd communications on the surface." Tali replied as she went over some things. "It is broken up. But I think I can clear it up."
Cameron turned, "Lets hear it..."
The intercom came up, whatever it was, it was static, once again most likely due to the atmospheric interference. Within a few seconds however the voice came up. Broken up. "Target is spotted... commencing mission... A team of three..."
"See if they can get some readings of the soil," Jackson asked.
Cameron turned to the science officer, "Those aren't our people. Target... Mission... team of three... That sounds like team of three are our three people, target."
"Scanning..." she said. "The signal isn't very strong."
"Even if it was Lt, they wouldn't arrive in one piece." Cameron replied as he stood and walked back to scanner. "The transporter chief says there isn't a way to fix it. I want you can meet up with him, maybe you can come up with a way to find a way to make it happen."
"Yes, sir," Vanessa said. She'd be happy to see if they could find anything useful.
Tali walked over to Cameron, which was only a few metres. "Shall I prep a shuttle?"
Cameron paused, he turned to her, and nodded. Only to be interrupted by the communications console.
Tali walked over to the console. "Commander... the shuttle is on a return trajectory... medical emergency... code white..." Tali replied as she turned to Cameron. "The Captain..."
Cameron rushed over, "Doc, as soon as they are in beaming range, is it safe to beam them to sickbay?"
"If we put a decontamination routine with a Force Field to keep anything contained." Milton instinctively reached for his tricorder. "I have two isolation rooms if the transporter Room can place them there?"
"Lt... as soon as they are in range, transport them to medical bay." Cameron replied as he headed down to sickbay with the Dr. "Kane your with me." He turned to Tali... "You have the bridge... as soon as the transport is done."
Tali nodded, as she watched the three rush to the turbolift.
"I believe the contamination will not get past our filters and while in Isolation we could get a better read on their condition." Milton said while heading to the lift. "Sickbay, Doc here, prepare Isolation Room One immediate transport." He instructed his staff.
