telling Nick and Mel
Posted on Mon Nov 28th, 2022 @ 2:26am by Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey & Lieutenant Commander Melor Pallara (Stoffels)
Mission:
Traitor amongst us?
Location: Sickbay - Nick’s room
Sky had made her way to Sickbay to speak with Nick, but first things first she wanted to have Melor there. She tapped her comm badge. =^= Jansen to Pallara, could you join me in Sickbay please? =^=
=^= Uhm yes ma'am. Will be right there. =^= He said politely but a little surprised. Maybe this was because he had not made a follow up psych appointment yet. Well yes he was putting that off now he felt a bit better. Talking about himsef was not something even a half klingon enjoyed.
It took a lot of his stamina to make it to sickbay as quick as he could not wanting to piss her off anymore. "Look Lieutenant, I swear I was going to make an appointment with you soon." He said and tried his best smile on her.
“Relax Melor” Sky offered a smile. “If I was angry with you you’d know about it. Anyway that’s not why I called you here. I need to speak to you, and to Nick as well.”
"Oh. Right." He relaxed slightly. "Us together? That's usually not good news. It's not Tas is it? Is he worse?"
“No, he’s coming along fine” Sky smiled warmly. “Let’s head into Nick, and you’ll see why I called you.” She motioned for Melor to follow as she took a deep breath, and headed for Nick’s room.
Walking into Nick’s room Sky nodded to the security guard that was there. “Hello Nick” she offered a smile. “How are you?”
He looked at her and several emotions mixed on his face. "Ma'am. You don't ... I know you... please you don't have to come and be with me."
Sky nodded. “I know, thank you Nick. Actually I... have some news to share with you both. I’ll warn you now it isn’t easy news to hear.” She paused. “Captain Carey received a call, it seems there was a series of assasination attempts yesterday. It seems Mrs Sorrel senior was out with her son's husband and kids. Marguarite was killed as was one of Pete’s daughters. One of the others is in critical condition. Pete and his husband were with his father yesterday, a bomb went off there. All three are in critical condition in the hospital."
Melor blinked and Nick just stared as if he was not taking it in. Melor went over to the younger man and put his arms around him. Klingons did not show much affection in public but with a stepmother who was a therapist he had learnt to be 'in touch' with his emotions. "I've got you." He whispered.
Sky was glad to see that Melor had stepped up to give Nick the comfort he needed. “I am sorry to be the bearer of such bad news, Tony took it pretty hard. You’re all safe here with us.”
"We are safe nowhere." Nick whispered. "Is this because I am a coward?" His tone was flat.
“How many times do I need to tell you you’re not a coward Nick?” Sky shook her head. “This had nothing to do with you, someone has been planning this a very long time.”
"Is uncle Pete going to die as well and granddad?" He looked at her with tearfilled eyes. "Do you believe him now."
“I’m afraid I can’t say about your Uncle Pete, because I simply don’t know.” Sky offered an understanding gaze. “I never said I didn’t believe you.”
"Nobody believed me about granddad." Nick wiped his nose. "What happens now? Can we go to earth?"
Sky shook her head. “Right now, we’re keeping you all safe here that includes Tony as well.”
Both men snorted at the same time.
"Good luck with that." Melor said. "And her mother."
"Is there anything we can do?" Nick asked. "Can we call granddad? Get more news?"
Sky shook her head. “Right now all you can do is wait. Any requests for contact will have to go through the Captain.”
"Can you ask him? I need to know more." Nick pleaded with her.
“I can try, but I’m not making any promises Nick. I’d be surprised if you get to contact him yourself, communications may be restricted for now for safety.” Sky offered an understanding smile.
"Then let my dad do it. He is a general, he should be able to talk to anyone. We need to know more."
Sky nodded. “I understand that Nick, like I said I’ll relay your comments to the Captain it’ll be his call from there.”
"I will stay with you as long as you need." Melor said softly, he knew Nick should not be alone right now and the counsellor was busy. "I will take care of him." He said to her.
“I appreciate that Melor” Sky offered a warm smile. “How do you feel about this? You’ve been pretty quiet.”
"Klingons don't usually show much emotions." He said. "And right now Nick needs me. And I suspect Tasin will as well. Have you told him yet? He is another one who will try to keep his emotions in. But this time it is Nick's family who have been hit the hardest and we will be there for him."
Sky nodded. “Don’t worry about Tasin, he’ll be informed.” She paused. “I’ll keep you up-to-date with what’s happening I promise.”
"Thank you, I appreciate it." He hesitated then walked her out of the room out of earshot from Nick. "Do you think I can take him with me to my quarters?"
Sky wasn’t sure. “I don’t know Melor, I’m afraid that’s something you’d need permission from both Doctor Milton and Soran for.”
"Ok. I will ask. But they will ask you about your views, I think. He seems more stable now. I was surprised he took it this well."
Sky gave Melor a doubtful look. “He’s fooled us that way before Melor. His emotions are well and truly bottled up right now, just keep an eye on him.”
"You know best. I am more used to Stoffels and Sorrels exploding in my face." He smiled. "Tasin will be bottled up as well."
Sky nodded. “Just be with Nick, help him through this. Everything is being done that can be done, that I promise you.”
"I know you will and I appreciate it." He said honestly.
“That’s good to know, Thank you Melor” Sky smiled warmly.
