Let’s talk

Mission:
Evacuation
Location: Security Offices
With everything that had happened lately Sky hadn’t had much chance to talk with Soran, deciding to correct that oversight she made her way to the security offices to see if Soran was available to talk. Walking in through the doors was an odd experience after spending her 24 hour punishment time there, but she didn’t linger on it.
"Can I help you Lieutenant?" a young Ensign asked.
Sky nodded. “I’d like to speak to Commander Soran please Ensign.”
"He's in his office but I don't think hes expecting you," the young woman said.
“No, he isn’t” Sky offered a warm smile.
Soran was in his office preparing to go down to begin the Evacuation, he'd settled into Tony's quarters. With his quarters being temporarily given to the refugees, he was going to have to share with Tony. He wasn't sure they were ready for that step yet. He also didn't want to encroach on her grief, he had a cot is his office in case things got dicey... The door chimed.
"Come"
Walking in Sky offered a warm smile. “Hi, I hope I’m not catching you at a bad time? I thought I’d drop by and see how you’re doing.”
"There's a few minutes before we deploy to the surface." He barely looked up from the pad with the latest intelligence report. "This will be a difficult mission and having fifteen thousand refugees on board will be a security nightmare. Even with the additional aid from the USS Fletcher we're gonna be stretched really thin."
The Angosian shook his head as he threw himself into his work, he couldn't afford to let his personal life affect his duty. It was time to face the battle in front of him, not think of the ones behind or beyond him.
“I’ll help out where I can, but I wasn’t talking about the relocation of the refugees.” She gave Soran a knowing look. “I know you don’t talk about yourself very often, but right now I want you to do just that.”
Soran gave her a weary look, "I have to serve others right now. Tony and her family are relatively safe, I'll take care of myself later."
“I know you will Ren.” Sky smiled. “I understand you’ll be sharing quarters with Tony while our guests are onboard?”
"Yes," he said as he continued going through his notes. "I'm sure we will figure that out."
Sky sighed. “Oh for heavens sakes Ren! Put aside the paperwork and talk to me!!” She gave him a look, one reminiscent of the look he used to get from Thatha.
"Don't look at me like that!" He snapped, he put the PADD down and glared at her. "I have to focus, there are people depending on us, we can talk about my personal life later. One battle at a time, I can't deal with the rest of this right now!"
Sky stepped back and held up her hands. “Sorry, I...” She paused. “Ever since I was drawn into your mind I’ve felt like I know you. I know that doesn’t make much sense. It’s just a... feeling.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I apologise.”
"In some ways you do know me very well," Soran said softly. "I am very concerned about Tony and her family. There's little I can do about that now."
“I know you are Ren, but you’re not alone in that concern. We will protect Tony, and her family.” Sky offered a warm smile. “Xavier won’t let any harm come to any of them.”
"I'm not worried about Tony physically, more the emotional strain." He explained. I'm no psychiatrist but she seems to be experiencing some sort of PTSD I've seen that before."
Sky nodded. “She’s gone through a lot, but between us we can help her through this. I’m not going to let Tony go through any of this alone.”
"Thank you," Soran smiled. "I don't know how sharing with with Tony will go, we're two very independent people. I wouldn't have suggested we move in together for some."
“Well it’ll give you both a glimpse into what it’s like to live together.” Sky smiled. “I know now isn’t the ideal time but it is what it is while the refugees are onboard.”
"We'll make do I'll let you know if we need any help." Soran said simply.
“Of course” Sky nodded. “Anyway I’d best let you get back to work, there’s a lot to do. You know where to find me if you need me.”
"Thank you," Soran smiled.
Nodding Sky smiled and headed on her way.
