Tony was feeling slightly annoyed after her chat with Diane. It was clear that the second officer did not back her decision to work but she knew she had the captain and Sky behind her. If only she didn't feel so tired and there were still periods that her head felt cloudy. Not that she was going to tell anyone about it. Focussing on work and maybe a good night sleep would take care of the those issues.
Sky smiled as she walked over to Tony, she’d promised to help out and keep an eye on Tony at the same time. “Hey, How goes things?”
"So far so good and I am really glad I can keep busy." Tony smiled back. "There is just so many of them."
“I know!” Sky nodded in agreement. “Trying to put people in quarters, as well as cargo bays is proving to be time consuming work.” She paused for a moment motioning to Tony to give her a second. “Sorry ... I think morning sickness is finally starting to properly kick in, being queasy is no fun at all.”
"Should you be doing this?" Tony asked worriedly. "It is taxing. If you are only doing it to keep an eye on me, I am a big girl."
“I’m not doing this to watch you Tony” Sky offered a friendly smile. “It’s my job to help these people, they’re going through quite an upheaval moving to a new world. As for me, I’ll take a break when I need to, once these people are transferred to their new home then I’ll be able to put my feet up for longer.”
"Or sooner if you need to as this can go on for a while." Tony insisted.
Sky nodded. “Yes ma’am. I don’t want Rutherford taking me off duty again do I?”
"Nope so you and I are going to look after each other today." The XO said mock sternly.
Sky grinned. “That’s a deal if you think I need a rest you say, and I’ll do the same.”
"Deal. You know part of me is glad that I can do this today and no bridgework." She admitted to her friend. "I am still a little tired to be honest."
“To be honest, so am I!” Sky couldn’t help but grin. “I guess we need to keep each other on our toes until our work is done. Then we both get a good rest.”
"Absolutely, I can't wait." Tony said heartfelt.
Sky nodded. “So where are we up to? Do we have a lot more to do?”
"I think so. There seems to be no end in sight. But pretty soon the ship is going to be full. We are already having to look for every nook and cranny we can use. And a lot of these people are traumatized. Can your department handle it until we can get them more permanent help?"
“It’s not a case of if we can handle it, we have to!” Sky nodded in affirmation. “One way or another those people will get what help they need.”
"But don't forget yourself." Tony said. "Don't ask your people to do more than they can."
Sky nodded. “I won’t that’s a promise. The same goes for you, don’t overdo it okay?”
"I think I am going to need your help with that." Tony reluctantly admitted. "I am not the best judge of character right now. I just ran in to Diane and she seemed angry that I am working at all."
“Diane is worried about you, we all worry about you.” Sky smiled at her friend. “Don’t worry she’ll come round.”
"I hope so." Tony sighed. "Ok, let's go to work."
