Mission:
Evacuation
Location: Carey Quarters
Xavier arrived home, and stripped down as he always did... being off duty and no where to go, and not expecting anyone tonight. But having so many people onboard, and the ordeal with the marines... it was... needless to say eventful. He did have some spare... time to thing about a certain thing. For a certain someone. Thinking it was time, to make things official, and add something to her hand.
As per her promise to Rutherford to take it easy, Sky had arrived home early. Having taken a shower she emerged from the bedroom in her off duty comfy wear of a fluffy pair of nightwear trousers and a comfortable t-shirt. “You’re home earlier than I thought you’d be.” She smiled as she walked over to Xavier, giving him a kiss. “Can I get you anything?”
Smiling, he kissed her back, "Just you." He replied taking her hand. "I have something to discuss with you and Tal..."
Sky gave Xavier a curious look. “Oh? May I ask what or do I have to wait in suspense?”
"It is about adding another ring on that little white hand of yours." He replied as he brought it up and kissed it. "Something I know you have questioned me about before... and you are right. With war on the horizon.. its probably the best time."
Sky’s eyes lit up both in surprise and excitement. “We’re getting married!?” She wanted to jump for joy, but she didn’t want to get too carried away either. There was still Tal to ask first.
"I take it thats a yes."
“That’s definitely a Yes!!” Sky nodded enthusiastically. “I can’t think of anything I’d like better than to be married to you.”
"Very well... Tal should be home any minute." He replied as he looked at the time. "While waiting is there anything you want?"
“Hmm one of those food platters with the various dishes would be nice.” Sky smiled warmly, she’d found the platters on the replicator menu quite by accident one day whilst hunting for something to satisfy her new cravings. “Platter number two please.”
Walking over to the replicator, he ordered the plate. Once it materialized he brought it over to the table.
Sky smiled as she looked at the platter loaded with goodies, there was salad, fruit, a choice of nuts, and yogurt, along with a glass of milk and a fruit juice. All good nutritious items for a pregnant woman. “Thank you” She motioned for Xavier to sit down beside her. “If I’m honest I can’t say I’m not afraid of what’s coming, the thought of war is terrifying!”
"It is. But we will get through it. Together." He smiled taking her hand. Looking over to the door that opened. "You are later than usual. Tal."
"Just a few hiccups with the colonists we have onboard."
Sky smiled. “I’m sure you handled it. Come over here and join us.”
"So what have you two gotten up to..."
Sky looked at Xavier. “why don’t you tell Tal what you just said to me.”
"Well I am thinking, it is time to make Sky a bonefide Carey." He replied with a chuckle. "In all seriousness. with the war coming... this might be the time where we can enjoy time together before things get worse."
Tal thought about it. "I think thats an excellent idea. Especially the after party."
Sky grinned. “Ohh there’s always plenty of time for that Tal. I’m looking forward to being made a permanent part of this family. I love you both.”
"You already are a permanent part." Tal assured her. "So where do we want to have it."
“Actually I was thinking maybe Niagara Falls? On the holodeck of course!” Sky grinned. “At least we can guarantee the weather will be nice!”
"The honey moon capital of Earth... I like it." Xavier replied. "What are your thoughts on that Tal?"
Thinking. "Im game for it." Tal replied simply.
“Wonderful” Sky grinned. “I want Tony as my bridesmaid, and maybe Ren could be your best man? Though of course it’s your choice.”
"Sounds good." Xavier replied as he thought about it. "Shal isn't going to be able to make it out this far in time."
Sky nodded. “That’s a shame, I would love to meet him. Maybe I’ll get chance another time. So, how soon do you think the wedding will be?”
"Perhaps we can do it once we can get to the station."
“Seriously!?” Sky’s face lit up like a light. “I’m seriously going to need to get some planning done, least of which is my wedding dress. I have a few ideas in mind.”
“Shall we make it a girls night tomorrow night for ideas"
Sky shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, maybe, I'm not bothered about having a hen party. Maybe Tony could help? I’ve asked her to be my bridesmaid anyway.”
"Hen party?" Talsi asked puzzled
“Ohh it’s a Party normally arranged for women who are getting married. It’s women only, and the bride-to-be normally lives it up for her last night as an unmarried woman. I’m not big on parties.”
"Married women dont live it up?" She looked at Xavier.
"Not usually... its usually a time of settling down, and starting to mature."
"I don't like that..."
“It depends on your personality” Sky smiled. “It’s fine for me.”
She paused. "As long as we don't lose our fun times. Then... I’ll accept it."
“Don’t worry Tal” Sky smiled as she walked over to Talsi and kissed her on the cheek. “We will not lose our fun times, though some adjustment for my growing waistline may have to be taken into consideration.”
"Growing waistline... Right... longer than mine was..."
“That’s Right” Sky nodded. “I’m 12 weeks, almost 13, out of between 36 and 40 weeks. Some women barely have a bump to show, others can be massive, proportions change from woman to woman.”
"And varies if its a multiple birth or just the one." Xavier reminded
“Very true!” Sky nodded. “Some women have multiple children.”
"You are only having one right?" Xavier inquired
“As far as I know” Sky nodded. “I have another scan due soon, it’ll give Rutherford a better picture of the baby’s development.”
"Not that I would complain..." Xavier assured her
Sky smiled. “That’s a good thing to know, so far tests have only shown one, but it’s not unknown to happen.”
"Especially in hybrids."
"Hybrid?" Tal asked
"Human, Betazoid, and romulan..." Xavier reminded her
Sky nodded. “Most hybrids struggle to get pregnant I’m just lucky that my human part overrode that when it came to having Xavier’s baby.”
"Ah... I guess I don't really see people as being a different species. Just part of the one universe."
“That’s nice” Sky smiled. “The universe would be a better place if everyone saw it like you do Tal.”
"Well, my people weren't just made of the people of my appearance. Each species who joined, took the name Na'Vi."
Sky nodded. “Your people sound wonderful Tal, and I’m honoured to be a part of this family.”
