Mission:
Traitor amongst us?
Location: Sickbay
Soran stood in Sickbay, he'd gotten the news Tony had been poisoned. Doc had treated her and she was going to be released. He still felt numb to his emotions, so focused on his surroundings. He noticed the medical staff seemed to be avoiding eye contact. He knew that his numb emotional stage was often misread as a difference, he saw no reason to correct their judgments of him.
Making her way across to Soran, Sky offered her friend an understanding glance knowing he was finding what was going on with Tony very difficult. “Hey, How are you?”
"I am present and accounted for," the Angosian said.
Sky nodded before looking around. “Can we talk in private Commander?” She gave him a look that said she understood, whilst making it look like a request of her own.
"Let's see the Tony first," Soran said quietly.
Sky nodded and offered a nod. “Sounds good to me.”
** meanwhile in Tony's sickbay room **
Tony slowly finished getting dressed. She still felt very tired and the medical staff had told her that she could continue to feel like that for a while. But the fuzzy in her head was mostly gone.
When finished dressing she sat down on the bed to catch her breath. A small part of her did not want to leave the safe surroundings of sickbay to go out into a world were people were out to get her and her family. Where she would have to deal with the grief of losing family members once again and having the rest still in danger. And were she would have to fight to win back trust of those around her. Wearily she rubbed a hand over her eyes. How had her life gone to shit this fast.
Making their way to Tony, Sky smiled warmly as she entered the room. “Tony! It’s so good to see you up and about. How are you?”
Tony managed a smile. "Still very tired. My mind is clearing though, although I think I would prefer not to remember that last couple of days."
Sky smiled. “All I know is it’s good to have the real you back. It’s a good job Rutherford is such an excellent Doctor, he saved your life.”
"I still can't believe it." Tony said. "I thought I was losing my mind."
“Not at all my friend” Sky smiled happily. “Just remember I’ll be there if you need to talk about it.”
"Absolutely, that is a given, I can't return to work before you and the doctor clear me. And I will need help working through..." She sighed. "There still is no more news from earth is there?" She rubbed her eyes again. "For now I just want to go home and be alone or with Ren." Tony gave him a shy smile.
"Well, most of my things are still in your quarters. I'm not in a particular hurry to move them." Soran smiled. Besides I think it'd be best if someone was with you for the next day or two."
She smiled at him. "Thanks Ren. I would like that very much. You two I apologize again for anything I might have said or done the last couple of days."
"Water under the bridge." Soran said.
"Thank you." Tony felt so lucky to have him. "And what about you Sky, and any others?"
“There’s no hard feelings here Tony” Sky offered a warm smile. “I doubt there will be with anyone else either.”
"I think I have been horrible to Diane. And I know Xavier lost confidence in me. I might have to look for another ship and probably go back to being a counsellor. It seems I am not command material after all."
“Don’t give up before you’ve begun Tony” Sky smiled. “We can talk with Diane and Xavier. We’ll get your position sorted.”
Tony doubted it. "Xavier did not want to give me sick leave before and I know I need a little time now before I can go back on duty. I am still feeling very tired and there is a lot I need to process with both your help. If he can't accept that I can't work with him."
Sky gave Tony an understanding nod. “You have medical grounds Tony, if you’re not up to going back to work yet, then we’ll sort it. Either Rutherford or myself, or both of us can talk to Xavier.”
"I can help as well," Soran said. "We'll get you back on your feet."
"You... you don't see me as weak?" Tony did not dare look at him. Ren had faced so much in his life and he had survived it all. And part of her still felt like she should tough it out. Her rational part knew she needed rest and she needed to grieve as well.
"Strength comes from overcoming pain," Soran stated. "There no other way, we will get you through this."
"Thank you. I guess I will be the patient for a while." She gave them both a wan smile. "Not easy for me."
“You know what they say, Therapists make the worst patients!” Sky grinned. “Would you like me to leave you both to talk?”
"I want to go home. Then maybe we can talk tomorrow?" She looked at Sky.
“Right now I think that sounds like a good idea” Sky nodded and looked at Soran. “I’m sure Ren will see you home safe.”
"Of course, right this way," Soran said.
Tony came to her feet slowly, the doctor had said she would be tired for a while.
Sky smiled as she watched Tony get to her feet, she just hoped Rutherford would find out just what was definitely going on with Tony. For now the temporary treatment seemed to be working.
Soran took Tony's arm and began to move to the exit.
