Popping the Hood

Mission:
Shoreleave
Location: USS Resolution
Timeline: TBA
Robert had been staring at the warp core rubbing his chin in thought holding a PADD under his other arm. He was compiling a to do list on ideas to run by Chief Hamilton that might improve the ship. Judging by the set up in engineering was good really good at her job from what he heard others say. Hamilton needed a sidekick to share her vision of wild ideas and Robert seemed to fit her style.
Entering Engineering looking a little drained and carrying an engineering toolkit, Isla was ready to have five minutes to herself. She had spent most of her time fixing up little bugs and niggles in the Resolutions systems, mainly due to the ship not having a proper Chief Engineer for a while.
She did however notice a new face. Approaching him she noticed he was the same rank as her. "Hello?" She asked in her Scottish accent.
Robert was taking a notes on his PADD before turning to her. "Howdy, just a compiling a to do list I will be out of your way shortly."
"A list?" Isla asked curiously. "A list of what?"
"Just something I want to run by Chief Hamilton she requested a propulsion expert and I am the one she asked for personally from Chief DiNucci back on the Sovereign."
"Mind if I take a look then?" Isla asked.
"Help yourself." Robert replied handing over the PADD.
Isla took the PADD and began to read through the list. "I can see why you're a propulsion expert. When can you get started on these?" She asked.
Robert took a seat at a nearby empty station bringing up several readouts. "Chief Hamilton, intends to do a minor refit of the warp core and impulse drives I can put a dynamic plasma turbo drive in."
"I see" Isla responded. She couldn't help but smirk, it seemed as if he didn't realise who she was just yet. "Have you met her yet? What's your impressions of her?" She asked curiously.
"First of all, I would appreciate it if she finally fess up and stop acting like I don't do my homework on what she looks like. Hoping she try to pull a fast one and get me talk shit about her." Robert replied turning to face her. "Chief Hamilton, I don't like pranks I fucking hate them."
"Oh that wasn't a prank," Isla replied with a smile. "That was a test and you passed." She crossed her arms. "It's about time we had honest engineers down here, I'm not one for having people who 'suck up' to me."
"One thing you should know about me. I'd rather someone be honest and tell me how it us over than trying to constantly make themselves look good for personal gain." Umcrossing her arms she made her way towards the warp core and leant against the handrail. "So, tell me. Since you're older and a damn fine engineer from what I can tell. Why are you not running your own engine room?"
"You implying I am too old to be your assistant, Chief?
"Not at all" Isla replied. "Just curious"
Robert leaning back in his chair interlocking his fingers thought it over a moment. "I don't know, maybe I just want to enjoy the climb to make Captain one day." He replied.
"I see," Isla replied. "Well, shall we get started. Have you had time to familiarise yourself with the current engineering tasks schedule?"
"Yeah, about that seems the ship has been without a good overhaul I take it you are the first proper engineer she has had in a while?"
"Pretty much." Isla responded.
Robert looked at her and grinned he liked her already.
