Sky stood in-front of the mirror straightening her maternity dress, it looked fine but she was feeling nervous about meeting her stepson for the first time. “Hun are you sure I look alright in this?”
"You are fine, hes going to love you. Trust me."
Sky smiled and nodded as she walked over to Xavier and kissed him on the cheek. “Thank you Imzadi.”
"Just to remind you he is pure Na'Vi, even though I am his bio dad... he doesn't take any of my traits."
Sky nodded. “That must be odd for you? To have a son that doesn’t have any of your genetic traits. I guess I’ll be looking up at him just as I have to do with Tal. Generally when you look up to someone it’s a term of respect, but in Tal and your son’s case, it’s literal. How do you think he’ll feel about having a step mother? That and having siblings on the way.”
"Its... just the norm... he knows different kinds of families exist, and he is quite content with everything he has seen so far."
Sky nodded. “Our marriage isn’t exactly the norm though, but if he’s happy then so am I.”
"Its not the norm for humans. But other races... yeah its normal... look at denobulans."
Sky nodded. “Very true.” She offered a smile before pausing and practicing her breathing techniques. “Do I ever know these two are due soon, I’m getting more in the way of braxton hicks!” She offered a smile as the sensation passed over. “Better now”
He smiled as he got a bag ready. "With the war, there is talks about allowing cadets take positions on ships."
“Really?” Sky gave an uncertain look. “I know Senior cadets do rotation on ships but junior cadets? They’re just starting out in Starfleet and they want to put them out in the field during war time? Are you thinking of having your son to join the Resolution?”
"No, I don't think that would be a good idea."
Sky nodded. “Of course, having all your family in one place probably isn’t the best idea. Anyway let’s get going or we’re going to be late.”
Xavier nodded, "absolutely." He replied, "Tal said she would meet us there."
Sky nodded. “Then let’s not keep her waiting. Lead on.”
