About a girl

Posted on Tue Apr 9th, 2024 @ 10:43pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton

Mission: Brief Stay
Location: sickbay

Xavier walked into sickbay, he knew that the last mission was the hardest on the medical personel, and to make matters worst it was something caused by deliberate sabotage, the extent of which could have placed his people in even more trouble. "Doc, you have a moment,"

Milton looked up from the seemingly endless paperwork that piles up at the end of a mission. He gave a smile at the chance to have conversation other than typing all the data.

"Of course,." He stood and gesture to the seat opposite him. "Please have a seat, can I get you some coffee, I keep a pot perking?"

"Coffee, music to my ears Doc." He replied as he smiled taking the seat. "Tell me how have you been holding up. These past few months have not been easy, Lantea did not make anything better did it."

Milton thought for a second as he rose to get the two mugs of Coffee with small try holding reamer and sugar.

"Not what I would say is easy." He was placing the refreshments between the men. "And the losses should have been prevented so ... yeah it was hard."

Sitting back in his chair.

"I hate to admit it was not all bad." His face flushed a bit. "We being friends can I bounce something between us? Seems that I got hit by something unexpected; or should I say Someone unexpected." Milton sighed. "I kind of met a girl; well a lady, and cannot really get her out of my head.

"Absolutely Doc, a girl eh... so... whats got you swooning over her."

"That is the thing, it just hit me." He chuckled nervously. "I looked over at this... skirted uniform wrapped around this pretty woman cutting into my temper at a machine affected by that Virus. Hand on an attitude cocked hip suggesting I let her look at it before doing somethig ... rash." Milton grinned a little. "Then those eyes just took me in and I could not get a rebuttal and Pix was jingling her laughter at me as I noticed the ... legs and must have done a once over before my Gentleman habits kicked back in."

Glancing to his friend.

"Long hair, in that uniform and she just went to work and I kept glancing over during the shift for no real reason other than to ... look." He shrugged. "Not like me at all actually."

"When all is said and done Doc, we are all men. and we sometimes like what we see, and can't help it."

"Biologically I agree." Milton joked. "I just ... well I am going to take some leave time with her; maybe get her in a surrey ride on the Family plantation." He nod. "Her family has what we would call a Dude ranch but in Australia they call it a Cattle Station and it is not measured by Acres but Square Kilometers."

"Well you deserve it, we can hold the fort down here until you get back." Xavier replied.

"I am glad for that." Glancing up he took on a more serious expression. "But Sky is my patient and those twins are a priority." Milton was serious. "You call upon me if she has an unusual twang or hick-up." He forced a grin. "I know we are close and I am On-Call for her like any normal Family Doctor. And I am the Xeno-Biology expert of the ship and whle Betazoids are very easy to have children with humans, I am Her friend as well of Doctor so I mean it when I say Do NOt Hesitate to caall me I am just a transporter away Xavier."

Milton did not realize he used the Friend's name rather a more official title in his statement.

"Well Milton," Xavier replied using first name basis as the doc did. He made sure the doc knew it was in approval, and smiled. "The twins aren't due for a few weeks. Don't worry yourself, have some fun."

"You know I always follow the Captain's suggestions." Milton nod before taking another drink. "Just hope the twins comply with that suggestion."

"I have learned that when it comes to pregnancies, expect the unexpected."

"That is why I am on Speed Dial Xavier." Milton toasted his cup. "Babies have minds of their own and timing to boot."

"So when do you leave?"

On the Morrow with Starboard Shoreleave." Milton pointed out. "Going Down Under then home, seems Little JEnnifer ;her daughter had 'dibs' called on this leave beffore we had the mission so I am just going with it."

"Sometimes leaving the planning on someone else is the way to go. Which is why I leave the planning to Tal and sky. I am the boss and telling everyone else where to go the majority of the time. I like following directions when I can." He replied smiling. "Just don't tell them that."

"Tell them... 'what?" Milton made a wide shrugging gesture. "Did not hear a thing." He chuckled.

"Exactly." Xavier agreed. "Speaking of, I gotta get going see where my 'orders' are right now."

"Give the family my Love." Milton winked. "I will try not to be so scarce in the future."
