Mission: Those who are left behind
Location: Ready Room

Richard stoffels was usually very slow to anger, especially if you put him next to his wife's family. All Sorrel's had a pretty short combustion time. But right now he was angry. There had been a cryptic message from Melor Pallara that his daughter was in big trouble and that he had to look out for his own safety as well. So he decided to go to the source and to ask Xavier Carey what was going on.

He waited more or less patiently for the connection to be established.

Xavier had a feeling this message would come sooner than later, and once the connection was established. "General, I have been expecting this communique."

"What the hell is going on?" Richard asked. And Xavier would know that this was very unlike the usually unflabbable dutchman.

"That is what I aim to figure out." Xavier replied. "If i didn't have anything else on my plate."

"I got a message from Melor Pallara saying that Toni is in big trouble and some madman is targetting me as well?"

Pausing before the next sentence. "They seem to be after your family, I am unsure why, or who." He replied as he looked around. "We may need to meet up in person to figure that out. It doesn't seem to be over, and Intel already knows that the Resolution is housing some of your family. You know there has been an attempt in the past."

He cursed softly in Dutch. "Where are you headed? I can arrange to meet you wherever."

"Headed back to starbase todrop off survivors, and POWs. I don't know if this is the safest place for you."

"I don't care about my own safety when my daughter is in danger. I am sure you are the same with your kids, captain." Richard said.

Xavier took a breath before responding, "With all due respect General, she is a starfleet officer during war, danger comes with the job. Though it is different at the moment, apparently from within starfleet, which is what I want to know what the hell your family has gotten yourselves into."

"I hoped you could tell me. I have not done anything to bring this on. It must be my old enemies trying to bring us down again. We have long known that they have ties very high un in starfleet."

"Well you have had to have done something for them to still be after you all these years."

"They have been after me for decades. They had reason then but never to go after my family as well. But now, it is just plain meanness and revenge."

"Best way to get to someone is through their family. However, I need to know why they went after you in the first place." He paused, "You know my past with Toni, if I can help her the way she helped me, then I will do everything I can to help her through this, as well as your family."

"As I told you before the trouble started over twenty years ago when I was heading up a task force on the Klingon border and we tharted an attempt of two houses to take over the empire. Even then we suspected they had support from high up in Starfleet. It has proven almost impossible to get evidence though. I know high ups in Intel were involved. They may fear I will still get that evidence. Otherwise I don't know."


"Well if thats the case, then perhaps over coms isn't necessarily the safest bet. I will get you a meeting place. Just hang tight."

Richard nodded. "That seems best. I will be there captain. In the mean time you keep my girl safe. Stoffels out."
