Dinner Part 2

Posted on Tue Mar 15th, 2022 @ 9:57am by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Talsi Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey

Mission: Free write
Location: Captains Quarters
Timeline: Current

Xavier finished his food, and stood, picking up the empty plates on the table as he walked over to the recycler. "So, reading your file, I see this is not your first stint on the Resolution, I hear you were Chief counsellor onboard up until two years ago was it, leaving for the last position."

"Yes. It seems like a lifetime ago." Tony said. She had remained very nervous throughout dinner feeling herself like an enemy here. This was so not how she had imagined her first posting as first officer. "If feels like a different ship, there is hardly anybody left from those days."

"I heard an update from Captain Leonard and Commander Kane. Leonard is finally out of Intensive care, and Kane is on track to take command of the USS Bismarck, the ship I was slated for before this happened."

"That's good to know. Ehm thank you for dinner, sir. I guess I should be leaving." She said. Maybe she could find a bottle of alcohol somewhere and get quietly very drunk in her cabin.

Tal walked in from being up in her area of the quarters, lowering herself down via tail. "We haven't even gotten drunk and had a sex party yet."

Xavier shot her a look. "She was joking about the sex party comment. She likes seeing the uncomfortable look people get. Something which should not be doing on a first meeting. But there is a selection of drinks here we need to sample. Including a batch of vintage klingon Warnog i traded with the previous klingons for some of my best whiskey."

She hesitated. It was very tempting. "You sure? If you would rather see the back of me I don't mind going."

"Tony. If I was uncomfortable, or wanted you to leave, I would have asked. Considering our past, I considered you one of the reasons I was able to get this far in my life after what had happened. For that I am grateful."

" I thought you resented my request for some chats. I am just being careful you know. This is so awkward." She had the feeling that Talsi dissaproved of her.

"I never said no, nor was I resentful. It is a sore subject from my past, but its also a part of who I am, so I should have informed Lt Jenson. Assuming she knew, was uncalled for, and should have been forthcoming about it when we entered this throuple."

While Xavier and Tony were talking Sky motioned to Talsi that they needed to talk. Keeping her voice down she offered a smile. “Tal ... give the woman a break. She’s not into party sex, if she was I’m sure we’d know by now. Besides there’s plenty of time for that later” she smiled a wry smile.

"Humans are so... uptight." Tal replied as she leaned back. "I do like that idea however."

Tony nodded. "You should have been honest with your therapist. But let's leave that for tomorrow." She was not about to share knowledge with his two wives around. Or whatever she should call them. This sort of relationship was all new to her as well.

"I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable Commander. Many of the guests that we have had onboard the wellington, were ones that we... arranged for other things to happen." Tal explained. "I am not accustomed to normal guests. To eat talk and then leave. Even though Xavier had discussed that is how it usually ends up."

"Its also why we usually don't have guests over." Xavier replied as he looked over. "We have been together for ten years. Its been turbulent."

“They were both surprised when I suggested becoming the third partner in this relationship, as Tal pointed out I had feelings for Xavier anyway.” Sky grinned as she looked at Xavier.

"Wait what..." Tony blushed bright red. "I...never...dear god...No, don't even think..." She was not often unable to find her words or so uncomfortable she did not know what to say or how to act. "Maybe I had better leave."

"Relax Tony." Xavier replied as he leaned forward. "Things have been stretched to make it sound sexual. This hasn't been the easiest visit. For you. I apologize."

"You know I don't do sex." Oh god, did she really say that. Another groan escaped tony.

Xavier couldn't help but burst out laughing. Before composing himself. "I am sorry Tony. That was uncalled for. Perhaps we can discuss this while we are in the office in the morning. Would you like a drink?"

"Yes please, something very strong."

"Warnog, i will make it a triple, you look like you need it."

Tony just nodded suddenly feeling exhausted.

Bringing back three glasses he sat them in front of her.

Sky offered Tony an understanding smile. "My comment wasn't meant to make you feel uneasy, I was just explaining how I came to be a part of Xavier & Talsi's lives. Anyway that doesn't matter right now."

"Oh I would love to hear it." Tony said. Sky made her the least nervous of all the people in the room.

Sky smiled. "I originally became a part of this family to provide Xavier and Talsi with another child. Our relationship as a whole has bloomed since then. Given the professional implications of being involved with Xavier, I made sure to refer him onto another member of the Counselling staff."

"That was good practice." Tony nodded. "Gosh I never asked about kids. Do you? I mean how many?"

"Talsi and Xavier already have a child of their own." Sky looked at Xavier and Tal for them to tell Tony.

"He is currently at the academy, studying security, with Tals people any offspring they may have with whatever species will come out pure Na'Vian. There are no hybrid, so any child that Talsi has with another person, will be of her race. She has already been pregnant once, which is the limit for her, she can however get other species pregnant."

"You mean they can only get one child?" Tony asked. That sounded horrible.

"My people can have one child, however we can make other species pregnant, which will come out as a member of our species, its risky, and with species such as Sky here, it can be difficult. But we have a very long lifespan. Much like your El Aurians. We surpass them as well. We also age quickly, we are fully mature by the time we are five."

"That is fascinating." Tony admitted. "I am sure you have had scientist clamouring on your door to learn more about this."

"Don't get her any ideas Tony, she will take any attention no matter how."

Tony's eyebrows rose. "Really? Being poked by scientists is no fun."

"If you want to skip the many innuendos, lets change the subject." Xavier replied with a smirk, he knew Tal would not be able to control herself.

"Alright. You pick a subject." Tony said taking large sips from her drink.

"What about our next mission? Have Starfleet hinted at where they're sending us next?"

"Rumblings of the demilitarized zone. Exactly what, I'm not sure"

Sky nodded. "Oh joy, the neutral zone!" she smiled a wry smile.

"We may see some military action." Xavier replied.

"I do not have much experience in command during action." Tony warned him. "I have the training and done the drills. But not for real."

"No time like the present Tony." Xavier replied as he poured another drink for all.

"I just want you to be aware." She said honestly.

Xavier smiled. "Then I will let you run the drills as soon as we head out."

"Thank you, sir." She smirked.

Sky smiled seeing Tony and Xavier getting along so well.

"So tell us about your last assignment."

"Ow that. It was my first job as second officer and it was rather tough. My captain did not approve of me." That was putting it mildly. The old goat had actively bullied her. If not for the XO who took her side she would not have survived on the ship.

"Being away for only a year, and the Resolution called you back." Xavier replied. "Seems like it was meant to be."

"Nearly two years." Tony admitted. Years she had been terribly lonely. And now she was back on the Res to find all of her old friends had been transferred away.

"I apologize how its not the same one as you left."

"Oh that's fine." She waved his concern away. To be honest Tony was used to being lonely as a counsellor and now as a senior officer. She had few old friends in the service and at home and her family.

Tal looked at her. "We have each other. This ship, friends will always be there, family as well. Anyone that comes into our lives, are destined."

"You are very fortunate." Tony said honestly and without any jealousy.

"In Time, I am sure we can all feel like that." Tal stated. "Professionally of course. Its not like we can jump out the nearest airlock if we want to leave."

Tony smiled and nodded.

"We do host families as well as civilians Tony. If you seek companionship."

"Well friendship is always nice." Tony said. Hopefully that would develop over time.

"More than friendship can happen as well." Tal was quick to point out.

Tony felt the need to count to ten to stop herself from saying anything nasty or rolling her eyes. "I don't think so." She managed to get out.

"Tal don't force it"

"Thank you." Tony managed to get out feeling very uncomfortable again.

"Don't worry Tony nothing is going to happen" Sky smiled warmly. "Just a friendly chat between friends."

She managed a weak smile. Boy was this different from the evening she had expected. Well De Ruyter's captain's spouse had despised her almost as much as her husband did. So she was used to tension. Somehow Tony had hoped it would be better at this posting. "Excuse me but I am developing a bit of a headache."

"We wont hold it against you if you'd like to retire back to your quarters Tony" Sky offered a warm smile. "We can catch up tomorrow."

Tony nodded feeling a little down. "I will see you all tomorrow."

"Sky, why don't you take Tal up to bed, I'm going to sit with the Commander for a bit."

Sky nodded. "Of course" she looked to Talsi. "Let's go Tal"

Xavier turned to Tony. "I apologize Tony."

She rubbed her temples. "Nothing to apologize about, sir. Nothing I am not used to."

"Would you care to talk about it?"

"About what? My headache? And that is usually my line. And as I am going to be doing therapy with you I would not talk about my personal problems... even if I had any." She finished. Damn that was not convincing at all.

"How about I escort you home and we can chat about it. You are my second, I need to make sure you are OK."

"Look it is nothing." She raised her voice slightly. "Just a stupid headache."

Raising an eyebrow, "fine..."

"Can I go now, sir?"

"Try walk a straight line."

"excuse me? I am NOT drunk, sir!"

"Humour me then."

She grumbled something under her breath that may have been assent.

"I can make it an order Commander."

"Alright then, sir. I can't stop you."

"Computer site to site, transfer Commander stoffels to her quarters."He replied. Truth be told, he was concerned.

Back in her quarters Tony made it to her bed before the tears came. Damn, why had she thought it would be different here. That this captain and his wife would be friendly. At least Sky seemed nice enough.
