Why?

Mission: Free write
Location: Quarters
Timeline: Prior to ‘time together’

Xavier arrived home, after his session with tony. It bothered him. He took the top off, but only that. It was odd for him to strip down, as custom at home was usually in the buff. But with everything going on... his mind just wasn't into it. Looking around, there was no sign of anyone home, so walking over he brushed some underbrush off regular seat, and sat down. Reached in a table beside him pulled out a bottle of whiskey and poured himself a glass.

Sky arrived home grateful to have reached the end of her shift, she may only be three weeks into her pregnancy but it was starting to make her feel tired already. As she entered through the doors she kicked off her shoes, yawned and paused as she saw Xavier. “Hey, you’re home early. Is everything okay?”

"Just thinking." He gave her a smile but then turned back to the wall facing.

“Thinking about Tony by any chance?” Sky looked at Xavier curiously.

"You've spoken i take it."

Sky nodded. “She came to see me, it wasn’t just about you though. She is worried about you, I told her I’d talk to you. What is it between the two of you? You’re like a pair of cats on hot bricks, as the saying goes!”

"Let’s just say you aren't the first counsellor I've fallen head over heels with." He admitted, "i literally wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her."

“Really?” Sky had to wonder. “It’s Tony ... so do you still have feelings for her?”

"It was one of those things, she was my counsellor, nothing happened between us. It couldn’t. But i fell hard. It hurt when it was over i left om the mission that took me away for years. Do feelings still remain. I have feelings. But to explain it is difficult. "

Sky nodded. “So if you had the chance, would you act on those feelings?” She wasn’t even sure why she was asking the question. Maybe it was a pang of jealousy, maybe she was afraid, she didn’t truly know.

"I have you, and I have Tal, I wouldn't even think about it." Xavier admitted. "Hell I don't know what... feelings there are, I care for her deeply, as she changed my life around. But its not the way I feel about the two of you."

Sky nodded. “I’m sorry, I’m not the jealous type I swear!” She took a seat next to Xavier taking hold of his hand. “You can’t talk to me on a professional level, but you can to Tony. Either that or we assign you someone else, but she knows your past which means you won’t need to go over it again.”

"I know. Its just... fine I'll go back."

Sky nodded. "What were you going to say? It's okay you can say it."

"Wasn't really going to say anything else." He paused. "But I was just wondering, why? If you knew it wasn't following the rules."

"What?" Sky looked at Xavier curiously. "You being my patient? When we weren't involved, my being your Counsellor wasn't a problem. If I had my way I'd still be your Counsellor, but Starfleet see it as a conflict of interest because we're lovers."

"I wouldn't have it any other way. But why would you when you knew it would stop."

"Xavier you're scaring me, why are you asking me this when you know why I can't be your Counsellor ... at least not on record anyway."

"I know why I can't I am just asking why did you agree to this in the first place." Truth be told he was confused. He did not mean to confuse, hurt or in anyway make it seem like it was wrong, but he wanted to know why she would go against the rules and become involved with someone that was 'off-limits.' He wouldnt have it any other way, and was happy with how things were going. He needed clarification.

“Why?” Sky gave Xavier an upset look. “Why do you think? I’ve liked you since the first time I set eyes on you! Being part of your relationship was a dream come true. I used to have a lonely existence before I met the two of you.” She shook her head. “If it feels so wrong why carry on with me?”

"Never felt wrong and it never will. Just wondering why some choose to follow rules and some decide to follow their heart."

Sky breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ve always followed my heart Xavier. Maybe some would consider that a bad thing, but I don’t. I love you, and I love Talsi. I want to spend the rest of my life with both of you, and our family.”

"Good cuz we ain't going no where." He replied squeezing her hand.

Sky nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, because I’d be lost without you. So what’s happening between you and Tony besides the worry of her being your old therapist? Are the two of you going to be able to work together?”

Xavier nodded. "Once this whole thing is sorted out I'm sure we will."

Sky smiled. “Good. Because right now I’m finding this whole thing being in the middle of the two of you very stressful." she offered a brief smile. "I'm just glad that our relationship is alright."
