Mission: Free write
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current

{ON}

Arriving at Sickbay Sky stepped inside hoping Xavier had already beaten her to it, she knew he was busy but she hoped he’d still be able to be there for her.

“Hello Sky” the young nurse on duty greeted her with a smile. “Pick a bed, there’s plenty free. Doctor Rutherford will be with you soon. Make yourself comfortable and let me know if you need anything.”

Sky nodded and chose the nearest biobed, sitting on it she kept her eye on the door hoping to see Xavier step through at any moment.

Xavier walked in, Tal was busy but he made a point to come to the appointment with Sky, After all this was her... well second possible pregnancy, the first after losing the first.

Sky smiled as she saw Xavier enter Sickbay. “I’m glad you could make it.”

"Wouldn't miss it for the galaxy."

Sky couldn’t help but grin. “I’m ready when you are Doctor” she smiled at Rutherford.

A streak of light flew to encircle the two as Pix took in her surroundings and she had a bit more of a glow to her as she look upon the possibly pregnant woman and the Gentleman with her. She smiled as she pass and came to land upon the monitor as she often did above all the 'Action.'

"Forgive Pix." Milton chuckled as he spoke. "She has a tendency to get a little more playful around children." Smiling brightly as he checked his PADD. No matter what age that child may be."

Coming up with a flurry of his right hand held a white Rosebud in his hand that he offered Jansen.

"A little bit to go with the Magic of life." He winked .

Sky grinned. “Why thank you Rutherford. I’m hoping that the test I took was accurate, they’re not always correct.”

"I have experience, but with a Na'Vian which took mere three months to give birth."

Looking at his monitor he gave a wink.

"Well I hope they do not become too accurate as it would take out part of my fun." He adjusted the sensory data. "Having the patient able to be totally sure would cut down my House Calls but then when would I get to see their faces when they find out the news of a pregnancy, it really is the secret of life and joy if you asked me." He said.

Sky looked at Xavier, she was more nervous than she’d been in some time.

"Seeing that you are both here I am guessing that a 'Positive' result to the test would be a good thing?" Milton asked. "I am reading two life signs within Ms. Jansen. SO it confirms the pregnacy is in motion and she will be seeing me often, I hope?"

Sky looked at Milton wide eyed. “Wait a minute, did you say there’s two lifesigns in me? Or did you mean my life sign and one other?”

You will be expecting; a Little one sharing your Life Support System." Milton joked. "Is this expected or am I ruining the surprise?" He asked.

Xavier smiled, "I think one would be great right now. Considering her first loss not to long ago."

Sky nodded. “It’s wonderful news!” She smiled at Rutherford and Xavier. “Am I carrying another child of Talsi’s?"

Glancing down at his tricorders he checked the evidence.

Pix shook her head in bewilderment as though she did not understand why Jansen has asked a silly question, of course it was her baby, humanoids to not do strange things like random babies... do they?

"No, this one is quite humanoid, reading a mix of your DNA..." he tapped the keys and looked at the Captain. "If records are right you have the Captain to thank for this little bit of good news."

Pix clapped from her place and seemed to glow a bit brighter.

Sky smiled the biggest smile yet as she looked at Xavier. "Well it looks like we're having a baby after all."

Xavier smiled, "This time I hope I have more time to prepare." He replied taking her hand.

Sky smiled. "Oh you'll have plenty of time, this pregnancy is going to be nine to ten months long."

"Luck would have it that your duties are not considered Physically demanding and that will help also if you have any issues as The counselor can use the couch if she so needs." He winked. "According to the scans you are on a good track from a Medical view. Just take care of the two and things should pan out nicely, no real complications right now but I would like to keep tabs of course."

"Of course" Sky nodded. "To be honest I'm more than a little nervous given my previous miscarriage. I'll be following any instructions to the letter!"

"That might be a first." Milton chuckled. "I will remember that as the dietary urges and such kick in." He glanced once more at his system and made sure that it was entered.

Pix was doing a little happy Jig on top the monitor.

Sky couldn't help but smile at Pix doing her jig. "I love your dance Pix!."

Pix descended to hover before her and bowed.

Xavier watched Pix, "I wonder where her people are from? Has she shown any signs of missing her people?"

Sky looked at Rutherford curiously waiting for his answer in regards Pix.

"I have never seen her with that far -off expression that most equate to being Homesick." Milton explained. "The planet we surveyed and we discovered her soon after showed no others of her race." He shrugged. "No telling how long she was hiding so there are actually 4 planets in a three month period that were visited and no sentient life form like her discovered. " He told them. So I can only guess where is is even from; more over, try to guess where her people are, only Pix knows that."

"True enough, while I am here Doc, was just wondering how my hand is doing, sans the trigger finger. Never thought Id have to perform an old klingon ritual in order to keep the peace on my first mission as a Captain."

Extending the probe from the tricorder Rutherford took a scan of the finger and hand, looking at the molecular bonding of the nuclei he could record the progression of the process easily enough.

"Well, there is good news and what some might call bad news." Rutherford started. "Medical science has come a very long way and humanoids in general all have similar physical laws."

He look the Captain in the eye.

"Physical repair and the Dermal regeneration is an advance healing." He smiled. "But the monding is like ... cement or any healing structure it takes 'Time' to cure. The process bandaged the parts and all back into place , but for a full healing your body does have to both accept and naturally heal." Nodding. "It might be a little uncomfortable during the Curing but it has the potential of full recovery provided you do not do that again til fully healed."

"I do not intend to cut off any more of my digits Doc." Xavier replied with a chuckle.

"I would not normally advise it." Milton chuckled.

"I think you're mad for having chopped off your finger in the first place!" Sky sighed. "There's being diplomatic and there's just crazy! I know Klingon rituals are important to them but you're not Klingon."

"Apparently making blood rituals with a Klingon brings you into the Klingons house."

"So you're officially a member of their house now?" Sky looked at Xavier curiously.

"No idea, there hasnt been anything to confirm nor deny. Although he is the final member of his house, thanks to my father slaughtering the rest of his family."

"Oh I see" Sky nodded. "Well perhaps you'll hear something soon."

"A Paramedic is about the 'Doctor' Level in the Klingon houses for the most part, I had a friend who sewrved and he informed me that 'Patching them together and getting them back into combat was the emphasis." Milton added. "So anything Klingon is a little out of my perview, r you going to keep the 'Honor of the lost digit?"

"According to the ritual it is necessary."

Sky shook her head. "As much as I don't agree with that, it's your decision."

"Knowing that traditions are as they may be." Milton started. "I could rig up something resembling a Typical Klingon covering to graph onto the digit to protect it from further harm should you one day want to replace it and the verves and such will be able to accept another artificial digit?" He offered.

"That would suffice. Just tell me when"

"I will check into Klingon Fashionable Trinkets, what will be the major design is attaching it as though anchored to a bone. " Again he chuckled. "The more painful it appears the better the trophy if I understand Klingon badges of honor?" Nodding. "Couple of days and we can discuss a surgery time."

"Well if you gentlemen are done with me I'll go and catch up on my duties" Sky smiled. "Looks like I'm going to need to plan for a temporary replacement counsellor for my maternity leave when the time comes. Not there's a rush yet!"

Milton smiled. "I will not detain you all," He said. "Everything thus far seems to be going along well." He glanced at the Captain and turned a shade darker. "I don't mean to pry but Talsi is aware of the joyous event?" He hated to ask. "Medical confidentuality is my creed; I just need to know so I do not congradulate her about the addition and let cat out of bag early is all?"

"We are in a unique situation dr. Three of us are... together. For humans it is not so normal, but with a hybrid, an apparant extinct race, and human... not so much."

"Part of 'New Civilazations means adapting cultures. "Milton shrugged. "WIth Pix here I am hardly one to say what is ; or is not, considered the Norm." He chuckled. "It will be a pleasure supporting your pregnacy and I will brush up on my Pediatrics refernces."

"Much appreciated Dr. Anything I should know while at starbase. Supplies."

"I have a couple of Medisinal Special orders that have a delivery time and regular restock was Yesterday." Milton nod. "Pix and I were just going over the Physical inventory results when you stopped by."

"Ok, thats good to know. Let me know when they arrive, dont want to leave qithout them.
