Mission: Free write
Location: Xavier’s office

{ON}

The morning had come round all too quickly and as Sky had promised she had called to Tony’s quarters so that the two of them could talk to Xavier. She pressed the chime and waited for Tony to answer.

Tony was at the door almost instantly eager to get going and do something. If it had been up to her they would have talked in the middle of the night.

Sky gave Tony an understanding smile. “You look worse than I feel, did you get any sleep after I left last night?”

"No not really. I couldn't sleep. Did you tell Xavier anything already?" She asked anxiously.

“Not yet, I told him I’d drop by his office and explain.” Sky offered a smile. “Let’s get going shall we?”

She nodded and fell into step besides Sky. Tony was feeling extremely nervous.

Arriving at Xavier’s office a few minutes later Sky pressed the chime and they both waited for an answer.

Xavier had been busy going over some exercises which would deal with proper training for the crew. The impromptu exercise with the atardrove brought up certain things that should be worked on. Hearing the chime he looked up. "Enter."

Walking into Xavier’s ready room Sky offered a momentary hand gesture to say hold on while she made a beeline for Xavier’s replicator to get herself a ginger tea, which seemed to work for her morning sickness.

Tony wanted to blurt it all out but she knew Sky was right. It might be better coming from the other woman if she had any chance of the captain agreeing.

“Sorry!” Sky smiled as she returned with the mug of ginger tea. Taking a sip she put it down on the small coffee table. “I received a call from Tony’s father last night, it seems her brother is missing.”

Placing a padd down he had picked up, "Details."

“He was part of an away team that disappeared.” Sky looked towards Tony before looking back at Xavier. “His ship is in this sector of space, Ohh and Tony’s mother is also out looking for him.”

"I would like to go and look for him as well." Tony blurted out. "With your permission."

Sky looked towards Xavier. “If you approve I would like to request to go along as well.”

"Only fools rush in. What are the details of the disappearance. What kind of mission was he on. It could be that his mission could require radio silence." Xavier replied as he looked towards the two officers. "I am not saying no. In fact, the ships at your disposal, but we need more information before we do anything."

"The ship...you mean that?" Tony had to wipe a tear away. "If you were not my captain and married I could kiss you right now." She looked at Sky. "Did dad give you any details? He has the highest security clearance, he would know."

"We still have a mission to do, but that... if intel is right, it will be more productive in the long run."

"Oh thank you. I don't know how to thank you." She wiped away a few more tears.

Xavier turned to the computer, "I have your fathers direct line right now if you want me to contact him."

"Yes, please. If you can talk to him. You can ask the right questions. I am just too upset to think straight." Tony admitted.

"Very well..." Xavier replied as he turned to the computer, within moments he was awaiting an answer.

Richard came on the screen looking like he had not slept in the last 24 hours. "Captain Carey..." he said. "I do hope you don't have more bad news for me."

Sky appeared behind Xavier offering a polite smile. “No bad news Sir. Could you repeat what you told me for Xavier please?

He exhaled. "My son has gone missing on a mission not too far from where you are. His whole team are MIA. And my wife has gone after him. I haven't heard from her since she left. The commander in chief is not willing to let me go."

"I need all the information General, my ship will take over the search." He replied as he leaned back.

They could see Richard exhale. "Oh thank god." He said. 'I will send over the file. It is highly classified captain. ... And if you run into my wife... I have given permission for her to go." Although it was after the fact.

"I highly doubt she would have listened to you if you said otherwise. If you wish I could request your assistance. With you being close to the situation, you might be able to assist in the search. Get you here, I am sure that someone that knows the mission given the classification, it would be much more acceptable to HQ if you were here."

He rubbed his face. "Somehow command does not like it's highest earth sector marine general to just up and leave. But if you want to try. I am sending you the file now."

"Understandable." Xavier replied. "We will see what we can do."

"Daddy. Please try not to worry. I will do what I can to bring Nicky home." Tony said.

"I know, baby. But I don't want to lose you as well, sweetheart. You be careful and follow the captain's orders."

“Don’t worry Sir” Sky smiled warmly. “I’ll keep Tony out of trouble.

"I appreciate it, lieutenant." Richard said. "Captain, let me know if you need more information. And ... not many people have this information. I am trusting you."

Xaiver nodded, "I will only disclose to my most trusted officers General."

"I think I had better try and get some sleep if I am to be any good to anybody." Richard said.

"Let uncle Pete give you something." Tony suggested. "You look like hell, dad."

He shrugged. "I'll survive." He turned back to Xavier. "Keep me posted please captain."

"Understood General."

Sky stood offering Tony some support, she just wished there was more she could do.

"Take care, dad please. We will do what we can." Tony promised her father.

"We are on our way, we shall give daily updates, and keep our eyes for your wife. Carey out."
