"The Meeting of the XO and Security Chief"

Commander Cameron Greyson, Executive Officer
Lt. Commander Tony Johnson, Chief Security/Tactical Officer

*****
Security Chief Office

With the meeting with the Second officer going exactly as he had envisioned, the next on his list was Talsi's boss. Lt Commander Tony Johnson. This one may be one of the officers he actually had things in common with, as he came from the same back ground. Instead of calling him up, he decided to pay him a visit, walking in the security offices.

Tony had been sitting his desk reviewing the crew manifest. The ship was still very much empty for the most part, but he was curious about the staff currently on board. Looking up from his desk, he spotted the First Officer entering the security office. Standing from his seat, he walked around the desk to greet Commander Greyson. "Commander what brings you down here?"

Cameron extended his hand. "Just checking up Commander." He stated as he looked around. "Hows my wife treating you?"

Johnson quickly accepted the hand, shook it and chuckled. "Your wife is clearly all business. Please have a seat."

"She didnt.... proposition you did she?" He asked as he sat down... "Should have seen her when we first brought her out of stasis."

"No proposition at all." Tony thought briefly. "Should I expect a proposition Sir?"

"she has... on occasion forgotten that there are things that isn't the same as she is used to, when it comes to... lines being crossed." Cameron replied, as he took a glance around. "So what do you think of the resolution."

"Very impressive," the security chief admitted. "Having all these families on board is going to take some getting used to."

Cameron nodded, "That it is, the families will take time to get used to. My wife has always said, when dealing with disputes on a family ship, the ships counsellor is the one to deal with it not security. I tend to agree somewhat. To certain extents."

"Our ships counselor actually suggested that to me as well. So what's the word on when were likely to ship out?"

"As of right now, I am not sure. Soon I think with the refit complete, I think it's just a matter of finding the right mission for a shake down cruise." Cameron stated as he checked his pad. "Any concerns, inventory to your liking?"

"Inventory is going well," Tony responded. "Armory was completed restocked yesterday afternoon. And a shipment of photon torpedoes should be arriving tomorrow morning. I'll be monitoring that first hand. Now is there any chance the Resolution might be getting outfitted for those Quantum Torpedoes?"

"From what I heard, we may get outfitted with a limited number of tricobalt torpedoes." Cameron nodded, tricobalt was rarely used, but there were occasions where they were, with a war with the dominion looking more and more likely in the near future.

"What I hear about the Dominion we can use all the firepower we can get."

Cameron nodded, "I agree, these hostilities we have with the klingons at the moment, not quite a war, not quite peace. It is taking our focus elsewhere."

"Seems like things are starting to fall apart all around," Johnson mentioned. "With the Klingons going after Cardassia, it appears the Maquis might just get lucky."

"The maquis... I wouldn't call them lucky. Fighting for their homes. Their livelihood."

"I meantt lucky as in not getting themselves killed. My cousin is a part of the Maquis. The Cardassians are ruthless with their methods of torture. I respect the cause of the Maquis, but I know its an extremely uphill conflict."

"The maquis, our brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, starfleet declared them enemies. I have been to Cardassia Prime, I have eaten at their tables.' Cameron replied. "I was present at the treaty signing that ended the war, had my name called by the detapa council. They are a great people in their own right. Its shocking starfleet won't do more."

"So you think we should help the Cardassians out?"

"I think that we should be able to work this out. I aint defending the Cardassians over what they did. I am not condoning mquis actions either, I am saying we all should be able to find a common thread that brings us together. Call it wishful thinking."

"Sounds like a dose of karma would be good for the Cardassians," Tony laughed. "The Bajorans ain't shedding no tears for them."

Cameron nodded, "I totally understand where they are coming from, however it makes me thing about Earth. 1945 the Germans had exterminated millions of jewish. They were finally defeated. Within mere decades, they were one of the largest nations to condemn what they themselves had done, even so far as to hunt those responsible for crimes their people did. " Cameron replied as he paused. "Its no where near as large of scale, but i find similarities. Bajorans were persecuted by the cadassians, Jews were persecuted by the Nazi regime. Not saying they are identical. But within decades, the german went from being enemies of the entire people to those who fought for what was right and against everything they had once stood for."

"Perhaps the Cardassians will get there at some point. At the moment they are light years from being remotely sorry for the things they have done. So what's this I hear about a gathering among the senior staff."

"I totally agree with you on that. Never said that they were. They are smart, but they are... stubborn. Especially those in the military." Cameron agreed as he paused. "Just a gathering, before we get our mission to sit relax enjoy each other to try and see how we are as a group before we are put to the test."

"Looking forward to finally getting out of this shipyard," Johnson replied. It was obvious that the Security Chief was eager to get the mission started.

Cameron nodded, "You and me both Commander." He looked at the time. He had one more stop. "Ill see you at the dinner."

"Yes sir looking forward to it."
