Welcome aboard

Posted on Sat Jun 18th, 2022 @ 12:43am by Lieutenant Jaya Thorne & Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Tyler Armstrong

Mission: The Lost Brother
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Current

Xavier sat centre seat Tony was to his right, it was rather quiet, with everything going on, there wasn't much they could do until all the info came through about the mission. It was going to be a few more hours.

"Captain, there is a shuttle on course for the Resolution, We have a Lt Jaya Thorne, with orders... stating shes the new chief helms officer, and a guy that says that we all need his alcohol.... the ships new bartender... correction.... the ships best bartender..."

Raising an eyebrow, "The bar tender can wait, permission to dock granted shuttle bay three." He turned to the Commander. "Care to join me on a little diversion Commander."

"I would be delighted, sir." Tony said. It was hard to keep her mind off the missing party so any distraction was very welcome.

Standing, he turned to the most senior on the bridge, who quickly took his seat, "Eager I take it. Looks like we have a high achiver maybe." He stated walking into the lift. "Shutle bay three."

"Wish Starfleet would warn me ahead of approaching new officers."

She shrugged. "I am just happy we are filling the open spots. We are looking a lot better than a week ago even."

"I agree Commander. With Commander Johnson going, and Lt Wayne leaving engineering the crew is ever changing."

"Yes. And we will have to work on it to make the crew a unit again, I have no doubts however that you will succeed." She gave him a small smile.

"We will succeed. We do this together. Think of us as the modern day kirk and spock." He replied with a laugh as they entered the shuttlebay.

"You are comparing me to a half vulcan?" It did make Tony laugh.

Thinking about it. "You have a point there."

"I would hope so." Tony did enjoy the easy banter between them. They were starting to be more comfortable around each other again.

Jaya leaned back and closed her eyes. She felt the chill of the metal alloy coating the inside of the shuttle through her uniform. An exhale escape her lips. She had been counting herself lucky lately, but was it really? If only... Her eyes opened as she sat up straight. She didn't hanve time for the what ifs. Before she left, her therapist had told her to focus on the present. Learn from the past but be in the moment. She'd find out her luck soon enough.

"Copy, permission to dock. Commencing to shuttle bay three."

Jaya glanced at the shuttle driver as they spoke of docking clearance. Time to make a good impression. As she adjusted her collar and dusted off her top, she made eye contact with the other passenger, a self proclaimed maestro of alcohol. "Soooo, you up for company later? We can sip brandy or down shots, depends on this meeting."

"Asolutely Lt. I have to work on some of my new concoctions. I like naming them after those in charge of the vessels I am on." Tyler replied as he grabbed his duffel bag. "Looks like you have people awaiting you."

Jaya sighed as she stood. Her 5'5" frame was perfectly sized for most Starfleet vessels. She brushed her brunette hair from her shoulders. Should she Leave it down? She had a hairband on her wrist; it would be easy to tie up later. Down looked nicer. But up was more polished. Half up? She'd want a mirror to make sure she did it right and there wasn't time for a beauty check. Panic flashed across her face for a spilt second. She took two deliberate breaths, counting to five in her head before exhaling. It would stay down for now.

"See you later," She said to Tyler as she disembarked.

Jaya took in the shuttle bay sights. The neutral tone walls with minimal stripe designs, the rounded off corners, the not- at- all haphazardly stacked storage containers were so very Starfleet.
"You've seen one shuttle bay, you've seen them all," Jaya muttered.
