Mission:
The Lost Brother
Location: Tony's Quarters
Soran was nervous as approached Tony's quarters, they needed to talk about their relationship. Part of him was still finding the idea of pursuing her romantically terrifying, but it was time to face things. He sighed he'd been through more life-and-death situations than most people and this scared him more combat. He pressed her door chime, part of him was hoping the computer was wrong and she wasn't there.
"Just a minute!" Tony had been washing her hair and she was clad only in her bathroom with a towel round her head when she opened the door. "Oh Ren." Damn she could not help but flush at the sight of him.
"Maybe I should come back later, " Soran said. turning to go.
"No please come in. I can quickly change." Gosh why did she suddenly feel so selfconcious, she never had around him before. "Make yourself comfy."
"Thank you, " He smiled and sat in her living area.
She changed into something comfortable quickly and dried her short hair then almost ran back to her living area. "Want something to drink, nibbles?"
He gave her a nervous smile, his stomach was in knots. "Tea would be fine."
"Ok coming right up." Tony was glad that gave her something to do. "So what brings you here tonight?"
Soran sat quietly for a moment trying to compose his thoughts. "Things didn’t go very well with Lt. Rahl the other night, that was fast even for me."
"Oh?" Tony tried to stay neutral and not betray that she was secretly happy. "I am sorry it did not work out, Ren."
"I think that's a record even for me," Soran sighed. He noted her tone and expression.
Her worry for her friend took over now so she leaned closer and touched his knee. "I am sorry, Ren. You deserve some happiness."
"She seems to think I'm hung up on someone." He said.
"Oh?" Tony felt her heart flutter a little.
Soran nodded, "I don't know how to say this... I think I'm in love with you."
She blinked. "You... what... but you and Kiara... I don't understand."
"I've already spoken with her," He said. "That was our first and last date, she wasn’t happy about it but she seemed to understand."
"You broke it off? Was it anything I said or did?"
Soran thought about what Kiara had said when Tony left, "I wasn't willing to move as fast as she wanted to. That's when she said that she thought I was hung up on someone else, she didn't say who."
"She read my mind." Tony said very softly.
Soran shrugged. " Kiera said she sensed something from you and asked if we had anything on with us."
"I was surprised that it hurt me so much to see the two of you together. It never did in the past."
"I was surprised when Sky suggested that I had feelings for you," Soran smiled. "I guess I've felt this way for a while."
"I always thought of you as a friend. And then for a while as a patient. Then a friend again but that thought of you as a patient was still there and maybe that kept me from feeling anything else. But now we had not seen each other in person for a while. Maybe that allowed me to see that my feelings have changed." She looked very shy and vulnerable.
He took her hand. "You've had a front row seat to the disaster that is my love life, are you sure you want a part of this mess?"
"Yes. Because I think we are meant for each other. I won't let you run away when you get scared."
"We should take things so we have a lot to consider." Soran said.
"Absolutely, I have never been an easy girl." In fact she had not had even a short relationship in years.
"Is that what you think of me?" He smirked, "that's fair I guess. I have been pretty cavalier with relationships in the past. I've always been honest about intentions."
"And that is not going to work with me." She smirked. "I am sure we will have some battles between us as well. As we have always had. That is not going to change."
"Technically we've already slept together." Soran laughed.
"Yeah well at least that seems to be what half the ship thinks at least." She blushed again.
"Really?" He shrugged, "And here I thought we were being discreet. Just goes to show how people can't stay out of other people's business. Nobody said anything to me but I'm never up on ship gossip."
"I have heard it hinted a few times when people thought I could not hear. I didn't say anything then. Good thing I didn't or they would have thought I lied."
"It's best not to dwell on what they say behind your back," Soran said softly. "People will talk especially if we are in a relationship, this will be complicated."
"I know it will but I can't deny my feelings any longer and if you feel the same." She smiled. "I guess we will have to tell the captain."
"We could do that," Soran shrugged. "Given his own choice in partners partners I can't see him having a problem with us. I'm a little more concerned about your family."
"But dad and mum know you. They love you. And mum is still here, so we can tell her." She grinned.
"There's a difference between a surrogate son and a son-in-law. They may love me; that doesn't mean they love the idea of us together."
"Don't be silly. They will be happy I found someone they know and approve off. Like you said you are practically family already."
"Your probably right," Soran wasn't convinced, but didn't need to deal with that at the moment. He reached out and caressed Tony face before leaning in for a kiss.
Her heart fluttered as she slowly kissed him back. "I hope you won't be dissapointed. I'm not a virgin but I don't have that much experience, Ren."
"That's one of the reasons we're taking it slow," he smiled gently.
"I love you." She said out loud.
"I love you too," Soran said softly.
The words frightened him as a spoke them, he swallowed hard. He felt so vulnerable right now.
Smiling brightly she kissed him again. "We will work it all out, you will see."
