Tasin pondering

Posted on Tue Oct 18th, 2022 @ 2:44am by Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Pixie

Mission: The Lost Brother
Location: sickbay
Timeline: after Tasin heard his diagnosis

Tasin was staring at the ceiling. He had kept up a brave face with the doctors and the nurses. But deep down he was scared as shit. Part of him desperately wanted his mother to be here. He could not show weakness it went against the persona he had carefully built up for himself over the years and a womanizing sarcastic guy who did not have very deep feelings. Hardly anybody had ever broken through that exterior.

Pix hover near by, as she felt something strong, tears were running down her face as she looked down at the man, moving more by instinct she made her presence known to the man. Flying up to the control board of the Biobed she began frantically kicking the surface until a shimmering surrounded the area. The 'Isolation Curtain was around them. Dropping to the next control she slapped it a few times to get an opaque color like a veil.

Nodding to herself with the hands on her hips bells sounded as she hgave the control a command, or a piece of her mind? decending she flew into the crook of his neck to give him the best hug that a person of her size could and squeezed enough to where he was well aware she ahd done so. stepping back into a better view she gesture to the surrounding opaque curtain and with the tears still coming down she spread her arms and then screamed to the sound of bells tinkling and stomped her feet and just made a show of herself; the ambiant message she relayed was more of a 'No one will see..." She gave a sly grin and tapped her head and made a shooing action as if to relay 'I am keeping them away just for you.'

Smiling warmly she ; in lady like fashion curled her legs under her as she came to rest on his chest. and with a fluury gave him permission to emote with none the wiser as she turned away so he did not even have her eyes upon him, he could privately have a safe moment to expend the emotional buildup and no one the wiser...

Suddenly the tears he had been holding in the whole time came and his shoulders racked with sobs. He cried for minutes not even trying to hold back. This was something he had certainly never done, cry in front of a woman not in his family. And ugly cry at that, snot was coming out of his nose.

It took almost ten minutes for him to calm down and take a very deep breath. "Thank you, my lady, I don't know who you are but you are a lifesaver."

"Pix, you need me come by in a bit?" The voice of Milton came from the other side of the veil.

The small person nodded without a word as she turned to face him, taking flight to the side table to get a wet towelette and brought it back to Tasin.

"I will leave you two alone, call us when you need." The footsteps went away.

Pix smiled and winked to Tasin as though to confirm she would keep people away until he was ready.

"Thank you. Yeah gods who would have tought I would turn into a ninny. My da would laugh himself silly and mum would probably be chuffed to bits. She's a shrink." He explained trying to get his composure back.

Pix shrugged and turned to him again with a growing smile, she rose to her feet and looked at him with a tilt to her head ; evaluating him of a sort. She had an expression that was 'So what' to his statement. Pointing to him and then to his heart then a full arm flurry as to give the impressions of follow the heart and all will be alive.' She danced a little twirling motion and lifted off the biobed, hovering an inch or two higher. Pointing to herself before a heart symbol with her hands showing her belief as she point again to him. Pix was supportive of him.

"awww thank you princess." He smiled. "It seems I have not lost my touch with the women. Will you come and stay with me more often? You could be my sickbay girlfriend." He winked at her.

Pix flushed slightly and her natural glow did brighten ever so slightly as she seemed suddenly a bit more shy. Pondering the thought she looked at him from under her eyelashes and gave a coy smile. Then seated herself with legs curled under her properly. Finally meeting his gaze and with a flurry of her hands gesture for him to elaborate on the ambient desire to know more about what they had spoken of or maybe more about him, the pretty bells that were her speech pattern sometime were pretty to hear but mottled her full intensions.

"You want to hear about me?" Tasin grinned. "Well I am my parents oldest child. I have one baby sister and four other brothers. Well five if you count Melor. Have you met Melor? He's in sickbay as well. Mum and dad kind of adopted him when he was small. He is half klingon but did not fit in in the klingon empire. He and I are the trouble twins always into mischief. My near olderst brother Frank who is two years older is way more serious, he never wanted to join us. And next is Kay but she's a girl." He caught himself. "Not that girls aren't great but not for mischief. Not our kind of mischief." He winced suddenly as pain shot up his back.

Pix felt the ambient pain and she tried not to let him see her pain as well. Her eyes closed and pain residing in her she waved the right hand in the ear as though to beacon someone over. Her concentration did not allow the curtain to be opened yet a second later it seemed that Doc Milton came past the curtain and glanced at the Bioscanner display.

"Oh, that looks like it smarts." Milton began to adjust the pain reduction regiment, each individual has varied tolerances and it is more of an art to use what is needed and not more than that. "Give me a second here..." He had the flowing of meds that would demagnetize the nerve endings; it is the iron follicles in the blood collecting on the nerve endings that signaled pain, by keeping the iron form collecting magnetically to he nerve the pain was reduces.

Milton could read out the damage and the saline solutions to flush the system a bit to clear the build up of Iron in his blood also helped to minimize the pain Tasin felt. He also felt a tinge in his mind, glancing at Pix he reached down and offered a hand for her to touch. She took the helping hand and her pain was rapidly vanishing. Her Rutherford balanced her; she always felt better when he is around.

"You keep an eye on him while I make the rounds?" Milton winked to Pix, who nodded and made herself more comfortable as Milton took a look at both Tasin and the monitor.

"Thanks doc." Tasin said. "She is amazing." The pain was receding and he was feeling more himself again. "Darn, I thought with being paralyzed I would not feel any pain anymore."

"The nerves are present, they are just damaged and like circuitry that is damaged there can be 'sparks' that happen even though the circuit is suppose to not be functional." Milton said. "Especially now that your body is... adapting the pathways from the brain to the body." He looked at his patient. "You might experience sensations from your limbs that are not working; sometimes with the loss of use the mind wants to recall the use of the missing appendage." He tried to be positive in tone. "That is also a normal part of healing and adapting." Motioning to pix. "Have pix get a scratcher if your feet get an itch."

"Thanks for explaining. I hate feeling so helpless." He admitted. "But it helps to have Pix with me." Tasin smiled at her.

Pix grin widely.

"She is a great Girl." Milton nod. "You just relax and I will check on you later." Milton said before exiting.

Pix yawned and stretched and with a tired eye look curl up where she was to get a nap. Her glow faded slightly and seemed to hae a little pulse with each of her sleeping breaths.

Tasin watched her sleep and smiled. It was almost as of he felt he had to watch over her and that was giving him a task next to the healing of his body. After a while he fell asleep as well making sure she had enough space left to lay comfortably.
