Briefing, and unexpected arrivals
Posted on Thu Oct 20th, 2022 @ 9:04pm by Fleet Admiral William Ross & Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Diane Doctrine & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey
Mission:
The Colonists
Location: conference room
Timeline: Current
Xavier led Captain M'Grerow into the conference room. "Apparently from initial reports the Colonists has actually agreed to the evacuation. Not something that was expected from any of my staff."
Looking over at the replicator. "May I?"
Xavier shook his head. "Please."
Walking over to the replicator. M'Grerow paused, "Milk, warm."
Xavier looked away and couldn't hold back a chuckle. "Sorry."
M'Grerows eyes narrowed. "My prefence for milk does not have anything to do with my resemblance to the Earth Feline."
"Understood sir."
M'Grerow grinned. "Although I must admit, they do have great taste."
Tony walked into the room and was surprised to see a new face. Since she had been very busy with the rescue of her brother and the aftermath of that she had not kept up to date with the mission involving the rescue of the colonists.
"Commander, this is Captain M'Grerow, Commanding Officer of the USS Hermes. We are still awaiting the arrival of several transports as well as their escorts... this place will be very busy within the next few days."
Paige walked in, wearing a flattering wrap around variant of the Starfleet Civilian outfit, her comm badge secure in her wrist unit. She'd found looking the part at least in part did earn her more respect in official capacity.
Commander Doctrine entered, wearing her intelligence black uniform, followed by a tall, dark haired Betazoid in a Starfleet captain’s uniform. “Captain, Commander, Lieutenants,” she greeted them, “Allow me to introduce Captain Daneel Olivaw of the USS Eldritch. He’ll be one of the colonists' escort ships.”
Captain Olivaw gave a small, shy wave, “Hey everyone. Captain Carey, I’ve heard good things about you. It’s good to meet a fellow captain in person.”
Xavier nodded, "Captain." He turned to the Caitian. "This is Captain M'Grerow, of the USS Hermes parked just outside." He was surprised, as the Hermes was the only one expecting today.
Daneel nodded a greeting to M’Grerow, then looked out the window. “Ellie is parked about half a kilometer above and to port of Hermes. She’s not one for creature comforts, we won’t be able to take on many colonists but we do have room for cargo…”
“…and she’s an absolute beast in a fire fight, just in case.” Diane added.
Mitchell walked in with his son, and looked around. "Captain I presume..." Then noticed the other two. "Which of you are the Captain of this ship."
"That would be me, Xavier Carey, but Xavier will be fine. Considering your not an officer. This here is Commander Stoffels, my first officer, and Captains M'Grerow and Olivaw."
"Row is just fine." M'Grerow replied extending a paw, with what looked to be well manicured claws.
Mitchell accepted the hand and nodded. "Caitian am I right?"
"Thats correct."
He turned to Paige... "He looks just like a pet cat that I had when I was young."
Paige snorted at the admission, but silently agreed with the assessment.
"Must be the first Caitian I take it." M'Grerow replied, given the fact that many have commented at the resemblance.
"Welcome on board." Tony said. "I am glad we could get so much help together in a short time. As XO if I can help with anything just let me know."
"With 50000 people to evacuate Commander... I hope you have a four leaf clover."
"We will need a lot more help to get that done." Tony admitted.
Wagnor stepped into the room and got a coffee from the replicator, then he took a seat next to Tony.
Sky stepped in through the door offering a polite smile and nod to all present, walking over to the replicator she got herself a ginger tea and biscuits, then walked over to a seat opposite Tony & Soran to sit down.
"Captain, reading several more warp signatures approaching. Two akira class ships, a Galaxy. Three nebula class ships." Element replied as she chimed in over the intercom.
"I guess, Admiral Ross wasn't kidding when he said he was sending help. Now we need the transports." Xavier replied as he sat back.
"They are on their way." Admiral Ross replied as he walked through the door. "Give them another six hours, all you need will be here. "Pulled a few strings... our long range sensors monitoring the large Dominion fleet heading towards the Cardassian space, noticed a large section split off, heading this way."
"Captain, Admiral Ross just arrived, on his way to the conference room." Element chimed in on the com once again.
"Thank you Ensign." He replied. A little late.
“A Dominion Fleet? heading this way?” Sky looked towards Xavier, this was the first she’d heard about the Dominion.
"New ally of the Cardassians... with intentions of war..."
"Which you can basically count on we are in right now." Ross replied walking over to the replicator. "Intel has expected it for some time. The only unknown factor was the Cardassian union joining them."
Sky looked at Ross wide eyed. “We’re at war!?” She took a deep breath, that had come as a very large shock. Up until now all she’d had to worry about was what colour to paint her baby’s room, now there was the reality of having to face being at war.
"Let's wait until we get everyone here," Ross replied sitting down. "One matter at a time please."
Sky nodded. “Of course Sir, Sorry Sir.” She sat back in her seat, picking up her cup of ginger tea in shaking hands she took a sip to try and calm her stomach, which was doing somersaults and now not all due to morning sickness.
Diane and Daneel looked at each other. Daneel gave a small nod to Diane's unasked question. Being Betazoid, Daneel felt the tension in the room rise.
Wagnor straightened in his chair at the mention of war. He knew it was coming, but was no being ready for war. He did his best not to make eye contact with the Betazoid, he didn't trust telepaths. The Angosian focused on his breathing to stay calm.
Sitting next to him Tony felt his breathing changed. She did not say anything or even look in his direction but under the table she put a hand on his leg and squeezed sightly to let him know she was there.
"I want to bring in a few people before we get started." Ross replied as he tapped his combadge signaling them to enter.
Daneel and Diane exchanged a glance and shrugged.
The doors opened to the room and two marines walked in, easy to see given the green collars both officers wore. The first was Lt.Col Jack Frost, a man with little hair, a face of much experience, and scars to back it up. Everything about him oozed 'Marine' from the way he held himself, scanning the room as he came to a stop at the table to the focused look he gave the Admiral which to some may have looked cold. To Jack however it was not about how the eye looked, but what the eye saw. His gloved hands clasped behind his back as he waited.
Sam Snyder, Major, is almost a walking contradiction given she was attractive in looks yet chose a marine way of life mostly dominated by men. She flanked the Colonel keeping her place secondary as his Exec but also making sure she had a view of the room and those present. The two of them had worked together for many years. The sudden redirect from mission to meet with the Resolution did raise a few eyebrows but obviously there was cause for it which Sam hoped they were about to be briefed on by the Admiral.
