Mission: The Colonists
Location: Ready room

Xavier stood watching the planet, the colonists had apparently agreed to evacuate... with conditions, that meant they had to transport thousands of people as well as livestock. It wasn't the worst conditions however, it meant having to request an additional five ships to help accomplish it, including one specialized in animal transport.

“Penny for your thoughts” Sky offered a warm smile as she walked up alongside the man who, in a comparatively short amount of time, had come to mean everything to her.

"Penny? Ah old earth currency..." He replied thinking back as he turned to face her. "Tal I would understand, she has trouble following the rules. You on the other hand... I am surprised. Not disappointed, I understand what and why you did what you did. Which is why I had to get someone else."

Sky nodded. “I’m sorry, I’m so used to doing things my way, my being in a relationship with my senior officer... it’s taking some getting used to. I promise next time, if there is one, I’ll stop to consider my actions before disobeying the rules!”

"We are not usually on missions that are deemed classified. My ordering no outside communication is only due to the fact that there is evidence supporting of starfleet involvement. Something that I think we are going to follow following this mission. It wouldn't make sense to debrief other people in, when we have people who have dealt with it first hand right here." He gave a reassuring smile. "Besides... reprimands do not necessarily hurt careers. Look at Commander Riker... he disobeyed orders and now hes first officer of the flagship."

Sky nodded. “Are you encouraging me to disobey orders Sir?” She grinned a wry grin.

"No, I am just saying that reprimands do not hurt careers. Some prove beneficial. Some show guts to do the right thing. Just... dont make a habit of it, and we will be fine."

“You know I wouldn’t do that” Sky gave Xavier a serious look. “At least you should know that by now, we’ve been together long enough.” She smiled. “Last thing I’d want to do is make things awkward for you.”

"Being a Captain, with a chief being a significant other... its always going to get awkward." He replied with a grin. "However... i wouldn't trade it for anything."

Sky nodded. “I’m glad, because I wouldn’t either. When I volunteered to have a baby for you & Tal, I never expected to fall in love with the two of you. It’s unique and amazing!”

"That is not who we are... we do want another child. But to seek out a surrogate was never in the cards... the unconventional that we have was always something we had discussed. However, not everyone is comfortable with it so we never brought it up with anyone else."

Sky nodded. “That’s understandable, each to their own as I always say!” She smiled. “I’ll admit I was originally drawn to you, but I love Tal just as much as I do you. I’m looking forward to being the other Mrs Carey.”

"Never think of yourself as the other Mrs Carey. Just as she isn't the other. There is no other woman, just the women. Never other woman."

Sky nodded. “I promise, it’ll be the Carey women!” She grinned. “Have we decided what kind of wedding we’d like? I promised I wouldn’t rush you, and I won’t.”

"I am game for whatever you want." He smiled as he brought her in for a kiss.

“What I want...” Sky smiled as she wrapped her arms around Xavier. “Is just to marry you as soon as possible.”

Xavier thought about it, "How about once we get these colonists relocated then we can figure something out"

“Sounds wonderful to me” Sky smiled and nodded. “It doesn’t need to be fancy, I’d be happy with just a quick ceremony, save planning the whole crew get together. Just us, Tal, and some friends as witnesses. We can have a party to celebrate with the whole crew.”

"You deserve more, you know that."

Sky offered a smile. “I guess...I just want to be married to you, the more complicated it is the longer it’ll take to organise! Am I being too fast?”

"Can't be any faster than we already have been."

Sky grinned. “I guess that’s true in a way, but marriage is a big step for all of us I want to be sure it’s the right time for us. That and...” she paused for a moment. “If we’re truly facing war there’s no knowing what future we’ll face.”

"What ever it is, it will be together."

Sky nodded. “I guess I should be letting you get back to work, plus I need to keep an eye on the colonist transfer as well incase my skills are needed.”

"I am sure they will." He replied. "Tell you what... lets get the colonists relocated and we can get married."

Sky nodded. “I’d like that very much.”

"Good." He replied giving her a kiss. Switching back to professionalism. "If there isn't anything else Lt. Dismissed." He replied as he grinned, and went back to his desk.

Smiling Sky nodded and headed on her way, there was still plenty to do.
