Mission: The Lost Brother

Xavier sat behind his desk, going over the reports of the mission, classified shit was not something he liked and he soon found himself with a headache.

"Captain, Incoming message from Admiral Ross." Ensign Element came over the intercom. "Top priority."

Raising an eyebrow, "Patch it through Ensign." He replied as he turned to the computer, with seconds the admirals face was on screen. With a troubling look on his face.

"I am going to make this quick Captain. The dominion has gained a foothold in the alpha quadrant. A fleet of their warships just came through the wormhole, and made their intentions known."

Sighing Xavier could only ask the question. "How many casualties."

"So far none. But they have allies, the cardassians have joined them. Apparently Gul Dukat has brokered a deal with the dominion the past few weeks, agreeing to allow Cardassian space to be part of the dominion."

Leaning forward, "That is not good news. The cardassians according to intel, has been mounting a force to take back the demilitarized zone. The Dominion doesn't waste time, which doesn't bbode well for the colonies."

"The other ships we sent out has had some success, most however, wants to stay and fight. Head to those colonies captain, as fast as you can. Right now the timing is crucial. I will have ships awaiting your word should you be successful."

"Understood Admiral. So does this mean."

"That we are at war... They haven't officially declared it yet. But, I would be considering us at war." Ross replied in a somber tone. "The cardassian union are a formidable foe, add the dominion to the mix... One bit of good news, the klingons are back in the treaty. We no longer need to worry about them."

Xavier bit his tongue, unsure how much he would be allowed to tell the admiral, he remained quiet. "Thats good." He merely stated of the matter. "I will set course for the colonists. Hopefully we have better luck with them than the others. Might I request a back up, The resolution is a strong ship. However, we do not stand a chance against the dominion. Look at the USS Odyssey, that was done by one."

Admiral ross looked off screen for a minute, pondering, "The USS Hermes is six hours from your location, if they travel at warp nine, they will arive about the same as you. I will contact the chancellor see if they have anyone in the area, that can be ready should the need arise."

"Understood." He looked at the time, it wouldn't take them 8 hours to the planet at warp 7. "Ill get under way Admiral."

Ross merely nodded his understanding, and closed the link.

Standing, Xavier walked out of the ready room, "Ensign Element, set course for the colony, warp seven. Tactical maintain an eye on sensors for any ships, cardassian or otherwise. Send out a notice to the crew and to Commander Doctrines shuttle. The federation is at war."
