Planning the Rescue- Back post

Mission:
The Lost Brother
Location: Ready room/Sickbay
Timeline: Before the rescue
Soran approached the Captain's office with Tony at his side. He pressed the chime.
Tony was glad they had made up and were on the same page again. She gave the doctor a smile as if to say that everything was back to normal.
"Enter." Just getting back from sickbay he was anxious to know what they found.
"Xavier, any news about Melor?" Tony asked when she burst in.
"Just that who ever is behind this has it out for your father." He was hesitant to mention what he thought. "We need to stop him from coming."
"Oh god." Tony groaned. "What do they want with dad. Just dad?" She turned to Wagnor now. "What do we do, Ren?"
He shrugged, "worst comes to worst I'll stun him, toss him in the Brig and worry about the court martial later. As for the rescue mission, Klingons may be the enforcers but I doubt they're the ones calling the shots."
Tony snorted. "And don't forget my mum is somewhere around here as well." Then she turned serious. "Uncle Wain has been warning for a while now that there is a conspiracy that reached into the upper echelons in the federation. Do you think he is right?"
"I'll be contacting Lt Commander Hunter Carey, if anyone knows anything. He may know." It was something he did not want. It was a part of life he wanted to get out of and forget but this was different.
"I'm more concerned about Commander Stoffels mother than father. I can predict his actions but hers she's a wild card." Wagnor shook his head.
"Never poke a mama bear." He paused. "Keep an eye out for any civilian crafts in the area. I doubt she would take starfleet."
"My mother is very crafty." Tony sighed. "So do you have a plan forward, Xavier? Do we take that planet apart to find my brother?"
"I'll get scien es to see if they is anything that will stand out regards to microbes or anything on the hull. See if there is anything that can indicate where abouts on the planet."
"So can we go down and search?" Tony asked. "Sir you saw what they did to Melor, I am terrified for my brother."
"Thing is...your brother isn't only target. And I don't think us being in the area is a coincidence when the actual mission taking place is much of a coincidence either
"We have to do something! We can't let him die, Xavier!"
"We will. But I believe you are a target as well, which means the ship as a whole is in danger, which changes the scope."
"Captian If they're after the Commander we could use that to our advantage," Wagnor said. " If they think we're falling into their trap we might be able to set one of our own."
"I suspect they will figure out we are on to them. They won't show their full hand right away." He leaned back. Pausing. If there was indeed a higher up conspiracy, which he highly doubted but given the current state of affairs. "What did your scans tell you Dr."
Tony was fuming. "I don't care if I am a target. And if you think I endanger the ship you had better get me off it, sir. Let me go and search!"
The chime buzzed.
"Captain, this is Doctor Rutherford." The tone was formal with hint of irritation. "I need a word with you ...Sir."
Tony started to pace like a caged animal.
"Well this is probably a call I should have expected." Xavier replied the patient wasn't in any shape to chat before, so he figured it was about that. Standing."walk and talk guys, let's get to sickbay."
Soran put hand on Tony's shoulder as they followed the Captain out. "Patience Tony," he whispered. "We'll figure this out."
"I have been patient for a long while now, Ren." She grumbled. "My brother and Tasin London could be dying out there right this minute."
"Only fools rush in thats how people get killed Tony."
She expelled a breath. "As if you are always so patient."
"Possibly not. But this doesn't deal with just one person and we do have civilians onboard."
She exhaled. "I know. That is why it would be safer to let me go to the planet. that way the ship won't be a target."
"An entire ship would move mountains if captured, to make an example, to make what they want happen."
"But with me on the planet they won't go after the ship."
"Why go after one, when they can have hundreds. Starfleet can lose a few men... a full ship... that will cause some issues, especially with civilians."
"Oh damn." Tony said. "You think this is a trap to get all of us, sir?"
"If so it's working," Soran said. "We need to figure out what's going on so we can turn the tables on them."
Tony swore. "I am sorry. I am so focused on saving my brother. I didn't think."
"We will get them back i promise. You helped me years ago, I am repaying the debt."
Wagner shot the captain a look, he knew he was trying to reassure Tony. However he'd seen so many situations go bad that he hated to hear people make promises they can't keep.
Xavier looked to Wagner, knowing what he was meaning. "One way or another. We will get them back."
"Thank you both, guys. I know you will all do what you can."
[Sick Bay]
No this was uncalled for." Milton said to Pix who sat on his shoulder as a lady would with her ankles crossed at the ankle and arms across her chest. "I knew I should have stayed here rather than allowing...
Pix just huffed in her bell like tone and turned her face away.
"The patient comes first and you know it." He added.
Pix turned her face back to him and the chiming voice said her piece and pointed at the Isolation room and the poor woman that felt bad despite hs assurances she is not in the wrong.
"I told her she did right and that the Captain over-stepped his...
Pix waggled whistled and her ringer waggled at him as she made her point.
"I said I would not yell." He said in a raised voice.
Pix raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms again.
"Fine... " He shook his head and lowered hsi tone. "Fine, I will 'discuss it with all due respect to the man who over -stepped his bounds by risking the patients better treatment." She tilt her head to look at him from under her frown. "Okay I will hear his side, then can I get mad..."
Pix looked at the ceiling and shook her head.
Commander Wagnor concealed his smile as he watched the doctor with his little companion. They looked like an odd old married couple at the moment. "Have we come in a bad time?"
Tony waved at Pixie. And greeted the doctor. Then turned to Xavier. "I thought Melor told you what he knew? Does that help to come up with a plan?"
"All he basically told me was that your family was in danger, and we need to save you from them. Its why I believe that you being on the ship, is not a coincidence with their mission so close."
"My teams are ready to beam down," Soran said.
"Make it happen Commander." He replied "Lets see what the doctor has for me right now."
"Yes Sir," Soran nodded.
"Is what you gathered from My patient worth the stress you placed my staff under; not to mention the harm that could have come from pushing him?" Milton asked. "I do not venture to tell you how to run this ship, I would hope you do not come here and instruct my staff to do more risky things to the patients Sir." He directed at the Captain. "You placed my Staff in a hard place Captain."
"The patient was adamant that the information that he had was vital for the safety of the Federation. It if just meant the ship... I would have let the other doctor sedate him, which I believe she was trying to do. Given their mission status... and the lengths that's already been taken about it. I allowed him to proceed with giving us the information. Not one of my better decisions but according to the patient there is more at stake than just his life."
"I suppose that you made the call, and the patient was trying to do what he thought best." Rutherford said. I am just curious, will this be a one time thing or become a new rule. I have been with Command that saw Medical as only there for their convivence, so long as the Doctor and staff were doing what the Command wanted I was left to heal as I saw best. Bu if my staff or I did not agree or put up what we thought best for the situation, it was pawned off as 'best for the situation' and the medical diagnosis was secondary to what the Command thought priority." Milton explained.
Looking at the group in front of him he took a breath to find his words.
"It always started with a single decision at a time of a crisis." Milton continued. "One 'little' decision and it was set in stone ; in a matter of speaking, The Command chain felt their priority would become the rule, medical became questioned anytime we had something that did not fit the situation and the weight of my departments was further down the chain. Our input lessened as we were just 'Medical' and only there for the Command's use. They felt able to countermand Medical as they wished."
Giving an honestly concerned expression he made his final point.
"I am not one to put my weight about, but I do back my staff and the vows to heal that we took. If medical is ordered according to command rather than the Medical expertise , then medial is lessened as the example is that Medical will do as told like a type of robot to obey the whims of Command. I have seen that happen SIr, I do not wish it to take root here. My subordinate felt compelled to follow you and did what she could but with some reservation, the point is that Command expected her to follow and seemed to validate the reason for telling Medical what they need do."
"You have my apologies Doc, he was insistent in telling me the information. "When I came, he was very distraught that more people would be injured or killed if he didn't tell me what it is. Upon hearing the information that he was able to provide me with. Has indicated that this whole mission, is or was supposed to do just that."
"I accept the apology." Milton started. "I just hope that this instance will not be a rule where you weigh possible results to a mission over what my staff or I have to say in the future Sir?"
"I will make it mandatory that you be there if anything like this was to happen again Doctor."
"Thank you Sir , that would be appreciated." Milton replied.
Pix have a satisfied grin as she sat on his should like a little Queen on the Victory seat.
"Anything else about the patient?"
"Been severely beaten, the internal damage will take longer to heal but with some light surgeries to just 'Shore-up some troubled areas I am hoping a full recovery. But he will need to be Isolated in a way to allow him to rest of course." Milton explained. "Aside from that he is relatively in better condition than he could have been, the cold in the shuttle actually helped slow the progression a bit amd the surgeries went well. It is up to him how he recovers now."
Xavier nodded, looked at the officers on either side of him, "Thank you for the update doctor, and again, my apologies for overstepping my bounds." He turned to his security Chief. "Gather your team Commander, and depart when ready. Commander Stoffels... Be careful I dont want to have to break in another XO." He nodded to the doctor, and to his 'assistant' before turning and walking out the door.
