Workout Time

Mission:
Evacuation
Location: Gym
Timeline: 2300
It had been a busy couple of days. Lonén was asleep. Geiger was working on things late, and offered to cover for things in their Quarters so that she could burn off some steam in the Gym. While the Gym was mostly empty at this time of night, there were still a few people milling about, working out and coming and going. She had her hands wrapped in pink tape, as she was strategically punching the weighted bag. The Trill spots showed out and around her green tank top, and peeked through mess spots that cascaded up the side of her black leggings. She had already been at it for awhile as loose strands of her hair were now sticking to her skin. She paused to take a sip of water, noticing the Commander had entered the gym. She waved at the Commander as she took a more of a swig than a sip.
Tony smiled and waved back. She had not spent much time with Lt Rinne so far and this was as good a time as ever to do something about it. So she walked over to where the other woman was working out. "You look like you need a little break."
She shrugged with a smirk across her face. "Don't normally see you here at this time of night. Then again, my nightly visits are sporadic with everything going on and family life," Aalis commented.
"I don't usually come here this late either." Tony admitted. "I couldn't sleep, too much going on you know. But tell me about you, you have your family on board." Tony started to do some light warming up routines.
"Yes, married to Lieutenant Geiger Zaal who's moonlighting down in Engineering. He specializes in weapon technologies, and then we have our son Lonén. He's five, and a spitfire wanting to know more about everything in the universe. Between all the interrogations going on and fostering the speed he's consuming knowledge, hobbies usually get by the wayside. At least training is part of the job to keep up with the younger security officers," Aalis joked. "You?"
"Aw that's so nice. And that you have your family together. Nope never been married or had a really serious relationship until well a few days ago. And it is a bit of an adjustment I must say. Don't get me wrong, I love him." She smiled. "But sharing your space with someone else. That is a challenge."
Understanding the adjustment it was to go to a serious relationship, Aalis nodded. "It is an adjustment. Once you share your space and get through that, then it's easier from there out until kids come around."
"Kids." her voice rose a little higher. "Uhm not for the first few years or so. First I have to get this perfect. I am so scared to screw it up, you know."
"Well, that is very true. One usually question everything that they do. Just don't let yourself get stuck by analysis paralysis and make sure that you two talk all the time. Communication will make or break a relationship," the security officer offered. "Piece of extra advice, one step at a time."
"Analyzing used to be a big part of my job." Tony said as she continued to warm up. "I came up through the counselling department. But I am good at talking as well. We keep talking, it's just I am the one who wants to do this perfect. He is the one you know. I have to do this right."
Aalis was stretching keeping her muscles warm even though she was in the cooldown process. "Well, remember to be gentle with yourself and your expectations. You might need to be able to pick up his queues and adjust as things grow and develop."
"Yeah. I am really going to try." She smiled. "Thank you, Aalis, I ehm I could do with some more female friends." She never made many friends as she had always been the ship's shrink and now a superior officer. Before she had not missed it very much, but now for the first time she really wanted a social life.
"Well, consider me one, if you like. It's nice to have some friends that aren't technically in the line of command that can give unbiased, as well as biased, opinions. While there are things that I wish that I could have changed over the years, at least on how some things happened," she commented before pausing to take a breath, "I realize I would be who I am or where I am at without that order of operations. I do like it here on the Resolution, and I love my family."
"I am glad to hear it. Technically I am in your chain of command, but not directly indeed. We like to think of ourselves as one big family. And how is the job going?" Tony asked.
Tilting her head to the side as she continued to stretch, Aalis responded to the question. "It's going pretty good. We've been enjoying being here and getting our space legs back underneath us. How are you enjoying the ship?"
"I do. Very much. I like how the crew sticks together and is starting to feel like a family. I know not all ships are like that. The captain and I have a good working relationship, so important." she did not want to ask directly how she liked working with Wagnor.
"You are correct on that one, not all postings are family like. So far from what I have seen of the Resolution, it is very much like a family so far. I'm still trying to find my place in it like all the other new people coming aboard. It's definitely not a bad posting so far," Aalis commented.
"I am glad to hear it. And you know where to find me if there is anything I can help you with." Tony said before starting her own work out routine.
