Mission: Evacuation
Location: Milton/ Pix quarters

ON

Milton had to be quite proud of his achievements, he could finally sit back a bit. The fact that Toby is asleep on the Human bed in Pix's room; her habitat being in a closet left the room largely unoccupied. Babysitting is not unlike the Sick Bay; many of his patients can be childish at having to remain in Sick Bay for any length of time.

Diane had asked Milton and Pix to watch over Toby while she worked late, it was not a problem. Actually it more a strain on Pix as she played with the boy; even doing a chutes and ladders game with him. Milton chuckled watching Pix manipulate the human dice that were like suitcases to her size. She rolled them one at a time and did her movement on the board, hovering about to move her playing piece.

Naturally Burgers and fries were served for dinner, and the boy did his nightly routine under the watchful eyes of Pix.

Milton just checked a few moments ago that Toby was asleep. There was also the regular pulse of Pix's glow on the pillow next to Toby. It is a cute scene and all Milton needed now is for His Diane to come along to pick up the boy. Lounging on the sofa in the main area he had a padd with some minor reports he could look over while he waited.

Diane finally finished what she needed to do and secured the Intelligence Center for the evening. She'd gotten her fingers in a lot of pies recently and the need to work a couple hours after alpha shift ended was becoming more of a necessity. Most days, Toby could spend the afternoon with friends, but not always.

Upon being admitted into Rutherford's quarters she told him, "Thanks, I really appreciate this. He wasn't any trouble was he?"

Milton rose and crossed to meet her, and gave Diane a quick little kiss to greet her.

"Go see for yourself." He had that sly grin. "He and Pix wore out a bit ago, he is sleeping in the unused human bed and Pix is on the pillow next to him." Milton told her. "I think they both had fun actually, so no problem at all."

Diane took a peek in the room as Rutherford explained. Seeing everything was all right, she turned back to him with a quick embrace, "Thank you. I do appreciate the help. I'm trying to rely less on Toby's grandparents."

"What else is a Boyfriend for if not to support the woman he cares for Love?" He returned the embrace and nuzzled her neck placing a light kiss on her neck. "I even saved you a cheeseburger and some fries." He snickered. "Thought you might be on a more professional get it done track and forget to take care of yourself and eat?" He whispered in her ear. "I do like taking care of your needs wherever I can. And you know I can cook." He teased.

Diane looked back at him with a demure expression, "I'm ashamed to admit I skipped lunch so thank you." She was led to the table and as usual, Rutherford pulled out a chair for her to sit in. "Thanks again, are you going to hover over me or have a seat for yourself?" she asked in a teasing tone.

"A gentleman always sees to a lady before seating himself." Milton grinned and grabbed a basket of hot fries for himself and a small server of ketchup before seating himself. "I will ask if you got what you needed done, not what you did, just that you achieved what is needed?" He chuckled. "For conversation sake of course. He winked. "I just like hearing your voice and seeing your eyes so feel free to answer how you please." He winked.

“I did, in fact, get caught up on some things. There are some I can tell you about and some I can’t,” she answered in her typical non-committed way. She smiled and asked, “How was your day? Anything exciting happen in sickbay?”

"Well, there is trying to care for Tony." He said with a sigh. "Whatever is ailing her is not natural, I having a toxicology run on her. That is not doing so well, damned puzzle like counting fallen dominoes." He looked up and gave her that confident wink. "I'll figure it out , just kind of frustrating watching her there. Pix is having a hard time of it, she is not herself, not constantly hovering but keeping vigil, if that makes sense?"

Diane's eyes narrowed as she thought, "It does." She looked off into the distance for a long moment as if remembering something. Then her eyes went wide and she muttered, "Oh. Crap."

"What did I miss?" Milton asked. "Pix is just being her helpful self." He questioned.

Diane's tone became anxious. She put the half eaten hamburger down and put her hand around Rutherford's wrist. "I tried once again to gain some information from one of our Klingon prisoners. She kept going on about things being set in motion that nothing can be done about. I thought it was about the recent attempts on her relative's lives. I wonder if this trouble with Tony was something she was talking about? RJ, somehow, someway, these enemies of the Stoffel family have gotten to Tony. Is there any way to expedite the toxicology report?"

"Dwell times to allow for the break-down." Milton put his hand on hers. "I have it flagged the instant it is complete." He told her and looked in her eyes.. "If they have targeted Tony's family and her then we will know in a bit." He tried to assure her. "If you want I will relay you my observations right away once I make sense of it, I know you are not a bio-chemist so I will make sure the evaluation is understandable." He looked at his Padd. "Another six hours expected in the centrifuge and element break-down." He caressed her hand a little. "Nothing to be done, Pix is sleeping on the Monitor above Tony; if something goes the alarms and one freaked Out Pixie will alert us." Tapping temple. "Like I said, connection helps sometimes."

Diane nodded realizing there was nothing she could do at the moment, "All right then. I should probably contact Drex and see if he's found anything out. There has to be a way to stop this... so, you'll let me know when you find anything out. I'd appreciate it."

"You want me to carry Toby back..." He got that sly grin. "He is sleeping soundly, you could wait around and be the second one to know the report?" He grinned. "Maybe sleep on it... here, we can be up before him and have breakfast on table?"

"That idea certainly has merit," she smiled back at him with a low sultry chuckle, "if you don't mind us invading your quarters."

"Dear Ones are never invading, they are welcome guests." He stepped closer and took her into an embrace. "Especially when they relax me and Pix, you know Pix is quite fond of Toby and ..." Milton caress her back gently. "I do keep you in my heart, so I think you can feel welcome, besides you and Toby have access to my quarters anytime."

"I was being facetious," Diane replied mirthfully. "But since you put it that way, then yes, I see no harm in Toby and I spending the night... and thank you for sharing."

"Any time Love." He winked. "And this facetious nature, is that one of the things you were warning me I would have to accept?" Milton teased.

Diane smiled slyly, "One of many," she teased back.

"I said I was all in." He chuckled. "Wait 'til you see what I do to drive you wild." Grinning he kissed her softly. "Ready to go to bed, early day you know, especially if you want to see the report with me, I am hoping to rule out foul play and it is just the pressure cooker of the job blowing a valve. The Toxicology will confirm either way.

"It is rather late now, perhaps bed is a good idea," she said after a small yawn.

"Come on Love, He took her gently by the hand to lead her towards his Bedroom. "II will tuck you in and we can make sure to be up before Toby."

"Sounds fantastic," Diane replied.
