Mission: Traitor amongst us?
Location: Ready room
Timeline: After ship evac

As the trio walked into the ready room. "Whats going on Tony?"

Tony paced up and down. "Xavier I was fine looking after the colonists. But I am not sure I can do this. What if there is an emergency. I ... just don't know if I am up to it."

"Then its time for me to find a new first officer... one cannot have a first officer who doubts and second guesses themselves." Xavier replied bluntly. "Someone once told me years ago, that you need to trust who you are, and trust yourself to make the right decisions. The moment you start doubting yourself, is the moment you are in the wrong position."

Tony felt like he had kicked her in the stomach. "Sir... then maybe you should, I can't endanger the crew."

Sky gave both a serious look. “Whoa there, hold on a minute.” She looked at Xavier. “I know Tony has been through a lot, but requesting a new First Officer to replace her isn’t going to help matters any.” She looked towards Tony. “Is this what you really want Tony? To not even put up a fight?”

"I don't know anymore! Half the time my head hurts and I still have fuzzy spells. Diane doesn't think I should be working at all. I am trying to be responsible here and Xavier wants to replace me. If he lost trust in me." She made a throwaway gesture.

Sky nodded. “I could just as easily put you on medical leave, that way you wouldn’t have to worry about your role as First Officer. Would you like me to do that?”

"An officer who doubts their own abilities, is one that can become a liability, especially if they are in a command position Lt." Xavier replied to Sky, using rank, indicating it was him speaking as the commanding officer, and not the friend. "It was you Tony, that told me about trust. In truth I am not the one losing the trust in you. However, you losing it in yourself, and questioning your decision making skills, I have to put that fact to heart as it does affect soon to be thousands of lives. The thing about trust, was what you told me years ago, when you were seeing me as a patient." He paused. "There is still the colonist that need to get situated, I want you making sure they are looked after and into their assigned spaces without issue..." He finally sat down in front of the computer. "I will... temporarily as of right now assign first officer duties to Commander Doctrine, until we get the colonist situation under control. We will... then discuss how to proceed on a more permanent basis."

Sky looked at Tony as Xavier talked before looking at Xavier. “Understood Sir.”

The bottom dropped out of her world and her eyes glazed over. Without a word she started to leave the ready room.

Xavier sighed, and leaned back in his chair. He didn't know what else to say, to Tony, or to Sky. So he simply swung his chair around. "Dismissed Commander. Lt please se to it that the Commander is alright."
