Mission: Traitor amongst us?
Location: Commander Stoffels' Quarters
Timeline: when Tony is out of sickbay

IC

Tony had asked Diane to come by her quarters when she had a minute. She had taken the cowardly way out and sent a message, not actually calling the other woman. Not everything she had done when under the full effect of the poison was clear in her mind but she did remember Diane and she had some ugly run ins and she had some fences to mend there.

Diane had a suspicion as to why Tony called her. So show there were no hard feelings, she carried with her a bottle of wine she’d gotten from an old friend to share. She tapped the chime on Tony’s door and waited for an answer.

"Come in." Tony came to her feet feeling very nervous all of a sudden.

Diane entered holding the bottle of wine behind her back. She noted Tony’s body language and allowed herself a small smile. “How have you been? Feeling better I hope?”

"Yeah. My mind is clear again, I am still very tired. The doc has not been able to stop the poison completely. It is still in my system but for now it seems under control. Diane, I..." She really did not know what to say.

"I think I already know what you want to say," Diane interrupted speaking in soft, soothing tone, "It's all right. we've been under some duress with the evacuation and you being poisoned to boot." She brought forth from behind her back the bottle of wine to show Tony, "I don't know if you're allowed alcohol yet, but I brought a peace offering."

"Oh man, I wish I was." She eyed the bottle with relish. "I have so many medications in my system that I don't dare mix it with alcohol. "Diane I don't remember everything that happened when I was under the influence of the poison. But I have the utmost respect for you and what you do. If there is anything I can do to help in the background. Advice anything, you only have to ask."

“I know,” Diane replied, “and for the record, I respect you as well. I think it’s good that we, how shall I say this? We keep an eye on each other and together we keep an eye on Captain Carey and the crew. That’s our job after all. Wouldn’t you say?”

Tony smiled. "I would like that. I am not ready to even go on restricted duty. My mind is clear but the poison played a number on my stamina as well and it is still in my system. But that doesn't mean I can't do something behind the scenes."

Diane knew of Tony’s penchant for wanting some kind of work to do all the time. “I understand completely, but you and your body are recovering from something traumatic. I believe its best that you get yourself healed and back to one hundred percent before taking on anything. As to your offer, if I need anything at all regarding first officer duties, I’ll be sure to call you.”

She sighed. "Ok, if you promise. Say are you able to get any news from earth. We still don't know what is going on and my dad says even he isn't allowed to put a call in. He doesn't do too well with being told no either."

"No one has contacted me yet," Diane replied, "But as soon as I get back to my office I'll reach out and see I can get a hold of someone who would know." Truth be told, she'd been rather busy doing two senior officer jobs.

"You will. Oh in that case I had better tell ... someone not to get into trouble on my account. I told her anyway but she is stubborn and wants to help me."

"It's all right to let her help," Diane mused suspecting she might know the unnamed person. Also, it would save her some time to get other things done. "Tell you what, if you don't hear from... this other person, or they can't get through, let me know, then I'll try. Sound good?"

"I will let her know, thanks Diane." Tony smiled. "And don't work too hard. I am doing my best to return to duty as soon as possible."

"I work smarter, not harder," Diane teased with a wink. "And for the record, I can't wait for you to come back either. Doing both jobs puts a serious cramp on my social life."

"Very wise. I know, I am doing my best but it is up to the doc and Sky and this time I am going to listen to them."
