Diplomatic arrival
Posted on Fri Mar 24th, 2023 @ 8:32am by Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Diane Doctrine
Mission:
Evacuation
Location: Ready Room
Now she was settled onboard Kiera made her way to the bridge, and the Captain’s ready Room. Carrying with her a PADD with her transfer orders she paused outside the door of the ready room and straightened her uniform. Pressing the chime she waited for admittance.
"Enter." Xavier replied as he was going over yet even more reports. It had made things extremely busy.
Walking in Kiera smiled politely as she approached her new CO’s desk. “Lieutenant Keira Tal-Carver reporting for duty Captain” she handed over the PADD containing her transfer orders.
Placing the padd he had in hand, down he reached and took the padd he was offered. Taking a look through the orders. "Welcome aboard Lt. I see your husband has also been assigned as the new assistant chief engineer." He reached over and tapped the coms. "Commander Doctrine... please report to the ready room."
Kiera nodded. “Yes Sir, it’s the first time since we got married 3 years ago that we’ve served on the same ship.” She smiled. “With the threat of war looming, Starfleet what’s to get as many diplomatic staff on ships as they can. Whether the diplomatic way will work is another thing. I’m also your Archaeologist and Anthropologist, should you require those skills.”
A moment later Diane entered the ready room. She noted the newcomer and offered a friendly nod in greeting. Looking to Captain Carey she said, "Reporting as ordered Captain."
"Commander, this is Lt Kiera Tal-Carver, she will be assuming the title of Chief diplomatic officer. She's also the wife of our new assistant chief engineer." Xavier replied as he gestured to the seat.
Kiera offered a warm smile as she looked towards Diane. “It’s nice to meet you Commander.”
Diane returned a smile, "Nice to meet you as well."
“I was telling Captain Xavier, that Starfleet is putting as many Diplomatic personnel out as they can. With the threat of war looming they’re hoping Diplomatic personnel might help reduce tensions.”
This did not surprise Diane at all. Even in peaceful times, diplomats and intelligence people often worked together for a common outcome in some situations. "Makes perfect sense," she replied, "If there's anything I can do to help, please, let me know."
Tony came in wearing civilian clothes as she was still off duty and still not clear on her current position on the ship. She gave the newcomer a friendly smile and extended her hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Tony Stoffels. Currently on sick leave."
“It’s nice to meet you Commander Stoffels.” Kiera smiled warmly. “I thought I’d read your name as being First Officer. I hope you’re back to full fitness soon, I know being off duty can be frustrating at the best of times.”
"Due to personal family issues, I have given her time to grieve for those lost and to be there for those that need recovering. Commander Doctrine has been assuming first officer duties until the Commander here is up to her full self." Xavier replied as he looked at both commanders.
“Understood Sir,” Kiera nodded.
Tony nodded and sat down while Diane continued standing.
Diane looked around the room. When it seemed apparent no one was going to say anything she lightly ‘ahemed’ clearing her throat and asked, “If there’s nothing else important, I really need to get back to work.”
Kiera looked towards Carey wondering what else he might want to know.
"And why did you need me to be here sir?" Tony asked.
"Because you are still Officially the first officer," Xavier replied. "Keeping you updated with the new arrivals is something you need to know."
That made sense. "I could help Lieutenant Kiera Tal-Carver to get settled." She offered. "That would free up some of your time. She looked both at Xavier and Diane. And it isn't really work.
“That sounds good to me Commander,” Kiera smiled warmly at Tony.
"So Lieutenant, Anything we should know before we dismiss?"
“I don’t think so right now Sir,” Kiera shook her head. “I just wanted to get the formalities over with.”
"Very well... Commander Doctrine, Commander Stoffels... how about you guys, any questions."
"I have none for the time being," Diane answered.
"Me neither." Tony added.
"Very well... Dismissed."
Nodding Kiera rose from her seat, pausing to allow both Commander’s out of the door first.
"Just let me know when you are ready for your ship's tour." Tony said. "You can find me in my quarters most of the day at the moment."
“How’s about in the morning?” Kiera smiled. “That gives me chance to finish introductions and get settled in.”
"That's fine. Why don't you come to my quarters then and we will take it from there."
“Yes ma’am” Kiera smiled and nodded. “I’ll see you then.”
