Mission: Starship Side Quest
Location: USS Eldritch, en route to Starbase Pegasus

Soran and Kay beamed into the Eldritch sickbay, the med staff got the Angosian onto a biobed. Soran's eyes rolled into his head and his whole body began to convulse. The staff began to swarm around as a nurse guided Kay away from Soran.

Kay wiped the tears from her face while she paced in sickbay. Her uniform was covered in blood, she had done all she could as a combat medic, to get Ren here alive. Now it was up to the surgeons to save the man she saw as a brother. All she could do was pace and wait to hear what the doctor had to say.

For Sky the sudden arrival onboard ship had coincided with the wearing off of the inhibitor she’d been given, the combination of that, and all the minds aboard ship had served to completely overwhelm her. Voices came crashing through her mental barriers as she backed herself up into the nearest corner, sitting cradling her head she was completely oblivious to those around her who wanted to help.

Kay suddenly realised that Sky had been beamed on board as well and if she couldn't do anything for Ren right now, maybe she could help Sky so she made her way over to her bed. "Hi Sky, it's me Kay."

Sky sat on the floor in the corner by the foot of the biobed, she didn’t acknowledge Kay at all. Her voice was just one amongst all those that were now flooding her mind.

She did not need her degree to see that Sky was in a bad way. The woman was in shock and this sickbay was much too crowded for her. But it was a small ship and Kay doubted there were any private rooms available. So for now she put herself between Sky and the room and just sat with her keeping an eye on her boss.

“It’s too loud...” Sky looked towards Kay. “The voices...it’s too loud!!”

"I can take you somewhere quiet." Kay said. "If it too loud for you here."

“No!” Sky cradled her head. “That won’t work! The voices will just follow me!!”

"They are in your head?" Kay started to look for her hypospray to sedate Sky.

Sky nodded as she looked pleadingly at Kay. “Please I can’t stand it, make them stop!!”

"I'm coming, Sky." She said softly. When she was sure she had the appropriate dose, Kay injected Sky. "This should kick in soon. I will stay with you until you sleep."

It didn’t take long before Sky was asleep, but even in a sedated sleep she still frequently stirred as the voices that filled her mind continued to invade.

After Sky fell asleep Kay continued to monitor her for a while and she noticed that her boss' brain activity was still way to high even while sedated.

==On The Bridge==

Diane left the turbo-lift in a flurry. On the bridge, Daneel sat in the center seat waiting for news. When he saw Diane walking towards him an anxious look appeared on his face. "Well?"

"All our people are back," Diane answered, "The sooner we head back the better."

Daneel nodded, "You heard the woman Vam'wa, get us back to Stabase Pegasus, warp seven."

"Aye Captain," the Klingon helmswoman replied with gusto.

Once the Eldritch was on it's way, Daneel asked Diane to his ready room. Once inside, he said, "I don't need my telepathy to know something is amiss here."

Diane's 'duty face' fell and she now looked worried. "It's Tale. I'm pretty sure Soran was in some kind of battle rage when he saw her... and mistook her for one his capturers."

"How is she?" he asked. He knew they went through intelligence training together and were good friends. Despite her best efforts to project strength and leadership, he knew Diane was worried about Tale.

"Not good," Diane told him, "I'm heading back to sickbay to check on her."

Before she could turn and leave, Daneel took her by the upper arm, "No. Wait. Let the doctors to their job. You need to try and relax a bit, have a hot beverage maybe."

Diane looked at his hand holding her arm. There were at least eight ways to incapacitate him and leave.

"I also don't need my telepathy to know you're thinking about knocking me out and leaving. Please don't." Daneel let her go. "Let me get you a tea or something."

"Fine," Diane relented. She knew he was right.

Kay came back to were Sky was sleeping after consulting with the doctor. He had been busy with other patients so had instructed her to handle this. She felt a little nervous but Kay did have enough medical training to be qualified to do this. So after reading the instructions she placed an inhibitor inside Sky that should dampen her nervous system for now and make sure she would not overload.

==After A While==

Daneel walked into his ready room to find Diane sitting on the couch against the aft wall. She was sitting with her feet on the edge of the seat and her arms wrapped around her knees. Diane looked as if she'd been crying. He watched a moment realizing she must have heard the about her friend nearly being killed and almost not making it through her surgery. He sat on the opposite side of the couch and spoke softly. "I'm sorry about Tale."

Diane said nothing and kept staring off into the distance.

Daneel continued in a quiet, sympathetic manner, "We'll be arriving back at Starbase Pegasus in thirty minutes or so."

Diane's head turned to face Daneel, "How?"

"She lost a lot of blood and it wasn't replenished in time. It’ll be a long shot, but there’s a chance she may make it." Daneel answered.

"No," Diane answered closing her eyes and hiding them in her folded arms, "I mean, how am I supposed to work with Wagnor... knowing he almost killed... a friend…”
