Tony drummed her fingernails on the seat rest. It had been hours but it seemed like days to her. Slowly the crew was getting the systems back on line and the ship functioning again. Thankfully nobody had been killed, but it had been a close call and there were some people in critical care in sickbay. But there was contact with sickbay and engineering and she had been assured that they were getting close to making contact with the landing party. Tony could only hope they were ok. She had not left the bridge since this whole thing started and was developing a killer headache.
With the ship starting to get back to normal a bit at a time Sky had been down to Sickbay to be checked over. With Kiara busy with the minorly wounded it hadn't taken long to get herself checked over, one clean bill of health later she was back to work.
"Sickbay is busy, but no fatalities Commander" Sky smiled as she walked onto the bridge and headed for her seat.
"I heard." Tony said. "Thank god. Now if we need contact with the captain and find whoever did this. But the ship is close to functioning again."
Sky looked at Tony in surprise. "Has it been ascertained that this was purposely done? It wasn't just a badly timed disaster?"
"Did I say that outloud?" Tony rubbed her eyes. "Hell. It's what I think and suspect." She said softly to Sky.
Sky nodded. "Then I guess we all need to be on our guard." she was suddenly wishing Xavier was back onboard, though at least she had Tal onboard.
"I am always on guard." Tony muttered. God she was tired.
Sky gave Tony a concerned look. "Commander have you had any rest at all?" she knew the answer even before asking it. "Might I suggest you go put your feet up in the ready room for a little while? go rest and relax, get some sleep." she gave Tony a look that she meant it.
"Not until we have heard from the captain. And not until I know more about what is going on with the ship." She was left in charge of the ship and that was darned well what she would do.
Sky nodded. "Fair enough, but as soon as the Captain returns you're to get some rest. Unless you want me to pull medical in and have them remove you from duty?"
"Of course." Tony promised. She was glad that Sky understood her need to prove herself. "Uhm, do you maybe have some stimulants for me? To keep me sharp?"
"Are you sure that's a good idea after the head injury you had?" Sky gave Tony a concerned look. "It's not like you've been down to medical to have it checked over. I did a patch up job, not a full fix. Maybe you should go to Sickbay first?"
"With everything settling down, it should be fine to leave the bridge."
Sky nodded at Talsi's comment, then looked at Tony. "We'll be able to manage until you get back."
"You two are ganging up on me." Tony grumbled. "Alright I will go to sickbay but I will be right back."
Sky smiled. "We're not ganging up on you, we're just trying to help Commander."
"Hmpf." Tony said with a smile. "But do contact me the minute you hear from the captain, or any other important news." With that she left the bridge.
~ Sickbay ~
Down in Sickbay Kiara was grateful that the mad rush was finally slowing down. There'd been no more streams of wounded arriving, just odd walk ins who hadn't come before. As the doors opened she offered a smile as she saw Tony enter. "Commander, what can I do for you?"
"Lieutenant. As you know I took a tumble when our troubles started. Could you please give me a clean bill of health. I would not like to stay away from the bridge for too long right now. And maybe something to keep me going and focussed. I can always crash when the captain is back."
"That all depends on what shows up Commander, you know that" Kiara motioned to a biobed. "Please take a seat" she picked up a tricorder and started a scan, tapping the screen as she went along. "Hmm...it looks like you've fractured your clavicle, fortunately it's only a small fracture so I should be able to sort that for you. You've also got a concussion, if I had to rate it I'd say mid scale. Ideally I'd prefer you to take a few hours rest, but I know that's not what you'll want to do."
"No indeed." Tony said. "You know if we had an experienced second officer I would not be this difficult. But we don't. And both our Lt Commanders are down on the planet with the captain. I have to stay alert until they get back, Kiara."
Kiara nodded. "Okay, but I'm only going to give you a temporary stimulant. With your concussion if I give you anything stronger you'll be out like a light as soon as it wears off. As it is I suggest you be sitting down when this one wears off." she picked up a hypo and pressed it to Tony's arm. "That'll give you a few hours at most. Now I'll just sort out that fracture and you can get back to it." she smiled as she picked up a second hypo. "This is just pain relief for your headache and your shoulder. "Administering it she got to work with the bone knitter, fortunately a fracture didn't take long to heal. "Okay...you're done, no lifting, your clavicle needs time to properly heal so go easy on it."
"Thank you, Kiara. You have been very reasonable." Tony came to her feet, she did feel a lot better now. Now she could only hope the captain would make it back on board soon.
~Bridge~
"Any news?" Tony asked when she came back. "And I have been cleared for a few more hours." She said to Sky and Talsi.
"Not a lot as yet" Sky shook her head as she looked up at Tony. "Damage control teams are going over everything with a fine tooth comb, as is everyone else." she couldn't help but wonder if Xavier had heard her mental call.
Keith came onto the bridge and went for the Commander. "Well, good news, and bad news. We've been able to prove that there is nothing physically wrong with the ship per se. However, it appears that something is going on with the computer itself. Engineering is chasing stuff around right now. So far, I have been able to get a patch in the internal communications to Main Engineering, and feeds from other parts of the ship should be able to start coming through now," the operations officer commented.
Tony nodded. "Sabotage?" She asked softly. "Will the patch hold? Do they know where the infiltration came from?"
"It's unknown if it was directly at us purposefully or if it was a byproduct or something else right now; Engineering is working to identify the source of the issues with the computer," Keith commented. "The patch should hold unless whatever this is and it get away from Engineering. We do have some folks from operations that specialize in the computer system aboard the Resolution to get to the bottom of this quickly."
"Put everyone you have on it." Tony said. "And we need communication with the planet restored." With Sky and Talsi there she did not want to voice her concerns about the away teams down there but she was worried.
"Ma'am," he said as he turned and left the area to get back to working on establishing the external communications to the planet surface.
“So it was sabotage” Sky sighed. “Why is nothing easy anymore!”
"Yeah." Tony sighed. She was extremely worried about the away party now. "Hopefully we are the only ones affected. And we are getting things under control." This could have ended a lot worse."
It had taken about an hour. They were finally able to get what seemed to be comms down to the surface. Keith made a beeline for the bridge. "I have comms to the surface, but it appears that everyone is in a meeting so they wouldn't let me through. You have the power to do so, Sir."
"Thank you lieutenant." Tony said and came to her feet. "I will be in the ready room talking to the captain if anyone needs me."
