Approved before transfer

Posted on Tue May 13th, 2025 @ 8:58pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Price & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey

Mission: Those who are left behind
Location: Molek’s secured Quarters
Timeline: Current

Having learned about Molek’s relationship with Xavier, Sky had decided to drop by Molek’s guest quarters with some home cooked food. Just because he was a Cardassian seeking asylum it didn’t mean he had to be avoided. Arriving at his quarters she gave the security officer a polite smile.

The security officer held up his hand. “Hold up Counsellor, I don’t have orders to permitted visitors.”

“I’m only bringing Molek some food.” She lifted the lid on the food for the guard to see. “If it’s a problem I can call the Captain to clear it Lieutenant.”

Knowing Sky was the Captain’s wife, he had no doubt she probably already had permission. “Alright Counsellor, I’ll be right here if you need me.”

Nodding Sky entered through the doors offering Molek a warm smile. “I thought you might be hungry” she walked over placing the tray down on the table and lifting the lid. “It’s a traditional Betazoid dish that I thought you might appreciate.”

"Thank you counsellor." He turned to the Counsellor. "I highly doubt you actually got permission from your husband, let alone the commander of this ship." He leaned forward. "Smells interesting."

Sky smiled. “It’s a dish I enjoy, it incorporates vegetables and spices that can only be found on Betazed. I used fresh ingredients, it’s not replicated.” She took a seat. “It’ll stay warm for a little while if you’re not hungry yet, or it can be reheated. As for permission, I didn’t make Lieutenant Commander by asking for permission to do things every two minutes, my duties as Chief Counsellor do allow me some leeway.”

Ryan was sitting at his desk waiting on what was to happen next, he was frustraited by this person, it would have been easier to put him on a transport to a prison camp than to contend with this little game, but this wasn't what the captain wanted so he waited. His mind drifted to other matters as he waited for events to unfold, he reached for his coffee and just wait

Looking down, "Looks like you could get in a lot of trouble."

Sky didn’t comment. “I know about the history between you now, so I can understand why you came here. There’s only so much we can do for you, but whilst you’re here you’ll be well treated. Is there anything you need?, anything I can get you?”

"Your bartender, I believe he may have a stock of Kanar in his storage." Molek replied. "I am going to need a few barrels."

Sky nodded. “Kanar, I’ll see what I can do.” She offered a warm smile. “Do your people know you’re here? What I mean is, are you away from Cardassia on a secret mission as far as your government is concerned, or are you considered to be a defector?”

"Im probably going to be listed killed in the battle of whatever its going to be called." Molek replied as he leaned over. "Speaking from experience as a fellow psyche dr. We don't make the best information gatherers." He smiled. "Nice try though."

“I wasn’t trying” Sky offered a wry smile. “I was trying to make conversation without prying too much. I’m not used to being around Cardassians.”

"You know I like leverage. If I give what I have... I lose what I can get." He paused. "I apologize Counsellor, if there is nothing else."

“Just tell me one thing Molek” Sky looked at the Cardassian curiously. “What is it you truly hope to gain? You’re giving up any chance of returning home, losing any family you may have. It’s a lot to lose.”

"Whats left of my family are the ones I am trying to save with providing the information to starfleet."

Ryan sitting back as he was listening too the conversation from a carefully placed device sat back 'Bingo!' they had found what they needed, he debated what the plan should be, he knew he'd be going in for the family so he continued to listen in now more carefully. 'This is the stuff they want me to do.'

"That is all I am giving up. I gave the reason... now let me tell you why. If the Captain hasn't already told you. My father is one of the old ruling party of the cardassian government. Most of my family were... dispatched... before they escaped."

Sky gave Molek an apologetic nod of the head. "I'm sorry, no one should have to go through through that. Family is all important, and their safety is paramount." she moved to stand up. "I should let you get on with your dinner."

"Its the way the dominion is, and sometimes even my own people."

Ryan had sat listening too the exchange and debated something...It was high risk and possibly worth the play. He tapped his combadge "Captain, get him to give the location of his family I'll arrange a mission to get his family out." he stopped knowing there was only one thing to say next "Myself."

"I doubt that the appearance of a stranger, promising safety is going to make them feel at ease Commander. I think this is why he came here." Xavier replied tapping his combadge.

Ryan decided to press the matter "We have two hours and he's on the prisoner transport, Security is already in the system collecting other POW's now, I've already delayed them too the point they're suspicious."

"Then I guess his request is granted. I have already apprised them of the situation of the request. Starfleet has also granted me the authority to decide." Xavier replied, "Xavier out."

Ryan sat back in his chair. He was angry, he'd been trying to avoid a run in with Starfleet security. He slammed his fist into the table in anger again. 'he delayed and delayed and now security is nearby, that's gonna be a problem'

Within minutes Xavier walked into Moleks quarters. "Your crew mates will be heading to starbase 153 to await transfer to a POW camp. We need the information."

"I take it my request has been approved." Molek replied, "This time the council will not be so easy to find. However there are clues, each leading to a new destination. We have to make sure that they don't get caught." He took a bite of the food. "Betazoid food is quite delicious."
Molek finished chewing the food. After swallowing he put the utensils down. In order to find them you must follow the instructions as stated."

Ryan sat back in his chair, he wasn't wanting another run in with Starfleet security, they'd been a big thorn is his side for years now and his encounters were always either hostile of a full on fire fight, there was never anything else in his experiences he reached into his desk drawer pulling out a bottle of whiskey and a glass, after pouring an almost full glass he sat back, his thoughts were on other things including a certain female crewmate.

Xavier knew Commander Price would be listening in, any Intel would have him searching. It was his job, and he apparently was quite good at it. Given his own thoughts about what people often referred to as spooks, he had earned respect. However, given the sensitivity of this... he didn't know what would happen if the information they got, if it would remain, or would it somehow get out. Another discussion with the Intel chief, or his command staff first. Or all staff considering.
